Great location Excellent accommodation Thoroughly enjoyable stay

The views were amazing. We had a lovely stay.

I stayed here last night, lovely views, polite owners, great with animals about just a lovely stay. The only thing is maybe have it cleaned properly and when asked about bedrooms etc suitable for wheelchair users maybe say no instead of yes as I couldn't fit in the door in my wheelchair to get into the bathroom, also I was told there's a bedroom downstairs.... there is not.

My friends and I had a great time. The property was a challenge to find, but it was perfect for our party and so much fun.

On arrival the property didn’t live up to the pictures on the site. Dated & required a good lick of paint. The surface in places had sticky ring marks indicating it hadn’t had a Covid clean as stated. The onsuite bathroom drain had a large amount of hairs so we declined to use the upstairs facilities & used the downstairs shower. First of many away days with VRBO & unfortunately this property hasn’t lived up to the previous ones.

We recently stayed here for my sister in law to be's hen party weekend and we were not disappointed. The location is beautiful , it super close to Chester city centre, just a short 10 minute taxi drive. The check in process was super easy, and there is also a co-op just down the road for any last minute supplies that you may have forgotten. We loved having the farm animals in the field just next to the property too, I would 100% recommend this property especially as it is so reasonably priced too.

Very enjoyable stress free stay

Absolutely stunning house - great location near to our wedding venue and they were super flexible with us having people coming to get us ready! Loved the animals and the facilities were just amazing :)

House is lovely- met all our needs as a group of 5. However- definitely not suitable for 8 people. The kitchen is relatively small and it’s basically has 2 double bedrooms with a couple of extra beds thrown in. The animals are lovely, nice to look out the window and see the chicken and her chicks roaming around. The grounds are well kept and set back from the main road, so quiet. A couple of games and essentials available upon arrival e.g shower gel, tea, coffee.

All in all was a great stay, comfy beds, enough amenities. Only thing missing really was there was no logs as stated to burn, and I know I could have asked but I didn’t want to seem rude. Also I could leave it as clean as I wished as there was no dishwasher tablets left in the box!

My friends and I had a lovely stay at the property. The owner is very accommodating and answers queries very quickly. The location is beautiful looking out on the countryside.

It was quite the farmhouse we were expecting, it was an annexe attached to the owners garage very much in their garden, and allow they had large grounds it wasn’t very suitable for the dogs, with all flagstones and tarmac. The fields being taken up with sheep, larmas etc, although the outlook was lovely. The downstairs space was one large barn type area very spacious and had everything we needed. Upstairs was much smaller, with low ceilings very much in the rafters, and in recent heat was ridiculously hot, would have been nice to have some fans and windows open for our arrival. It was also a bit rich charging for extra people when there are only 2 bedrooms so everyone had to share the same room. Check in, check out was simple and straightforward. Given the number of beds it would be nice to be able to use both showers at the same time, but they both use the same supply so not possible.. also 4 towels for 4 people would have be nice…..otherwise everything else was fine and as described.

This barn is lovely, clean and peaceful.the location is perfect for a relaxing stay and the owner of the property is welcoming and very helpful. Would definitely recommend and will book another stay if I am staying in the area again!

Large property, in a rural setting. Very pleasant. Good amenities.

The property was spacious with great views. Check in process was easy and the property manager easy to contact and very responsive. The beds were comfortable with plenty of extra bedding if needed. The only improvement I would suggest would be to have more information available at the property (where to eat locally, where to get logs for fire etc) and the cleaning could do with a review. It was quite dusty upstairs an both bathrooms needed a clean but on the whole our stay was good.

The property was clean, well maintained, in a nice area. Nice for short breaks as the price is high and there is not much in the area, but also very close to Chester centre if driving. Overall very good.

House was lovely and the setting was beautiful overlooking a little farm. Says sleep 11 but this is on 2 king-size and 2 single beds. The rest are pulll out beds so can get quite cramped in the main bedroom. Furthermore, there is only enough dining and seating for 6 people at any one time on the sofas.We ordered a hot tub for the which a charge of £150 was asked to cover the running costs. We paid it as we thought we'd get good use out of it during our stay. Unfortunately, the owner turned it off so it didn't get to the optimum temp to use over the weekend which was disappointing considering what we'd been asked to pay. Kitchen is small, has what you need but it in need of upgrading appliances. As everything was slow and the kettle needed really needed replacing as it was rusty or needed a good de-scale inside. Overall a pleasant stay but I hope the owners can make some improvements to fulfill its potential.

Me and my wife stayed over 20/22 october 2020,this place is lovely, very spacious, very cosy and quiet,with the added bonus of the farm animals the owner keeps in a field next to the property. The owner (Bona) is very friendly, very approachable. I would thoroughly recommend Hillside,its a great place to relax and chill.

Lovely host, easy to communicate with. Brilliant location easy drive to city centre and Chester zoo. Lovely barn and very nice view from garden.

My husband and I booked the barn as a nice little getaway since being unable to travel to our honeymoon destination due to COVID. Upon arrival we noticed a very unpleasant odor throughout the property. The pictures in the listing do not accurately reflect the property. There was no football table, the kitchen and utensils were filthy. We had to go out and buy our own sponge to do the washing up as we didn't trust what was there. There was food and hair on the plates. Everything needed a thorough washing up prior to using. The cupboards were dirty (dust, food, drink spillings etc). There were cobwebs all around the building. I had unfortunately walked into a few throughout the barn. The outside patio seemed very appealing from the images, and with the weather being so hot, I specifically looked for an accommodation were we could sit outside and enjoy a nice day under the sun. Unfortunately, there were no sun loungers, the garden table and chairs were filthy, covered in cob webs and the slabs were covered in bird poo. They also had quite a few workmen on site during the day. So, even if there were sun loungers, we wouldn't have felt comfortable enough to be using them. There is also a large house next to the barn which isn't shown in the images. The images gave us the impression that it is in a secluded place with privacy and space. Again, this unfortunately wasn't what we arrived to. Although the living area was spacious, there were several bed sheets thrown into the corner. It looked like they didn't have anywhere to put them so dumped them under the stairs. The bed linen had marks on, so we didn't trust sleeping directly on them. So we had to sleep with our towels underneath us and a blanket covering us. Luckily the weather was hot throughout the night so we didn't freeze. As a major point, we would have expected the property to be thoroughly cleaned to a high standard especially since being in the mist of COVID. At the very least, hand sanitiser! Overall, the property doesn't look like it has been cleaned in a very long time. Tidying up is not the same as cleaning and this is what the property lacked. Although it has so much potential, it unfortunately didn't fulfill our expectations and have left us feeling stolen of our experience and the money paid for it. We only hope that the owners are able to implement some changes and fulfil the image that is shown in the pictures.

Tricky to get in.holly hedge obstructed key pad which was dark. Needed my torch.accommodation very cold. Took ages to heat up,very poor tv.very poor kitchen with old greasy oven and microwave.No bath. En-suite freezing cold floor. Water roasting hot. Nice views, lots of space. Wood burning stove.

In a good location for what we needed - area around us very nice. Dog friendly, accomodation very good. checking in and out super easy. Great space -only 2 of us but could accomodate a family easily.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was excellent (very close to Chester & also not far from Liverpool). Lovely view. The property was very comfortable with all mod cons with a lovely garden & nicely furnished too. The fireplace made it feel nice and cosy too. We can certainly recommend it.

Nice conversion with plenty of space. Great base for trips to Chester, the zoo and only a short drive to shopping complex in Elsmere port. Kitchen storage space very limited if you are self catering. Poor wifi but overall a well presented accommodation.

We stayed at the property for 2 nights over New Year. Great location for local sights. We went into Chester and also visited Cheshire Oaks and Blue Planet Aquarium. The Barn is very spacious and provided enough room for 4 adults and 2 children. Very well equipped inside. Even though the barn is on the property of the owner the barn itself feels completely separate with fantastic views. There is a local village with a few pubs 5 minutes walk away. If we would have stayed longer we would have tried the local Chinese that seemed very popular. The Barn itself is open plan downstairs which makes use of all the space. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs which sleep up to 4 people in one bedroom (double bed and 2 singles) and a double room in the other with an ensuite wet room. We wished we had booked for longer. Thank you for letting us stay and we will be recommending to family and friends.
