We stayed from December 30 to the first of January, and it was the best decision to stay in Erica’s lovely home to meet the New Years. We were welcomed with smiles and warmth, the rooms were big and were very well equipped with your own fridge, coffee maker, coffee pods, drinking water, and cutleries. The view of the river in the morning just takes away your stress. Every single detail was really thought through, and they even have an electric car charger - which they’ve installed mainly for the guests to use (we came in with an electric car so it means we don’t need to find chargers around town). Then breakfast is something that is done with so much love and effort. Bread is freshly baked, french toast was divine, food is gorgeous, my husband is lactose intolerant and my friend has kids with her and Erica and John made the effort to personalize each order according to each person’s preferences. Truly a remarkable experience and everything is *chef’s kiss*

I was visiting Newport for the Mayo Dark Skies Festivsl with my daughter .My daughter and I enjoyed a very warm and comfortable stay with great hospitality abd a very nourishing, home cooked breakfast .

The most magic location beside the river. Very comfortable room with lovely decor and personal touches. The homemade breakfast was simply delicious! Erica was an amazing host - very friendly, welcoming and had great local recommendations. Would highly recommend Riverside House.

Our room was stocked with all the amenities we could ask for, the grounds and house were impeccable/beautiful/unique, and breakfast was incredible. These kind hosts welcome you in and treat you well! Thank you for such a memorable time and for one of the better breakfasts I’ve had in a long time! Every detail was beautiful and special!

It is the best B&B ever. The location is just stunning. The beds were super comfortable. The fire, the little details, the River, an amazing breakfast… Erica was super helpful and made our stay an authentic dream. I would repeat once and again.

Everything was just perfect

Erica made us feel at home from the very beginning, the house and garden are simply stunning, the location is close to the local restaurants & pubs, the breakfast is exceptional they use eggs from their own chickens and offer homemade bread, our room was spacious and well equipped with free water, tea, coffee. In the common area were games and the view on the river was just great. We would have loved to stay a little longer as we unfortunately only had one night

This property was one of a kind. Situated on the river with amazing facilities. Our room was exceptional with attention to detail. The host was extremely facilitating and provided us with a delicious homemade breakfast. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone and everyone!

What a gem, we had a lovely stay with family. Amazing home, wonderful location on river bank. Erica made us so welcome and looked after everyone. All food either home grown or locally sourced. Could not recommend enough, so glad we found Riverside House and will definitely be back. Amazing, thanks Erica & to John for the homemade breads. Looking forward to our next stay.

Only that we had to leave!

Erica has been simply lovely! My husband and I felt welcomed (notwithstanding we arrived a bit later than the expected check-in time 🙂) and at home. Our apartment was cozy, super cleaned and furnished with lots of small and nice details. There was a stove and we could light the fire before going to bed. The whole house was amazing, it’s a shame that we couldn’t use the garden because of the weather! Breakfast was absolutely one of the best of the trip, with home made compote, jams, bread etc. I wish I could stay more! Thanks Erica and John, we loved the Riverside House and Newport 🖤

We loved the little touches in the Shepards Hut. The grounds were lovely and there were tables and chairs all around the garden where you could sit and look out on the river.

The riverside location is gorgeous and just a short walk into town (sidewalks all the way). Their seating next to the river was a perfect place for a relaxing evening drink. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities (coffee maker, tea, water, mini fridge). The décor is lovely. And Erica is a fantastic and friendly host who serves a wonderful breakfast! We’d definitely stay here again!

Everything about the place was just brilliant. We stayed in the shepherds hut, right on the river and it was idyllic! So many little touches that were greatly appreciated, just a stunning place to stay for the night, I wish we could have stayed longer! Breakfast was amazing, so much homegrown produce and absolutely delicious.

The car park is a bit tight.

Superb position by the river. Walking distance from Newport. Thoughtful tasteful furnishings and finishing touches. Absolutely delicious breakfast with home produce. Excellent knowledge of local history. Comfortable beds and even our own coffee machine. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience. We booked the shepherds hut, so we were expecting minimal comfort but it had all it needed. A camping experience next to a beatifull river in full comfort. Of course if you book the rooms inside, I expect the comfort will be higher, it is still a shepherds hut, so tiny and cosy, but this is what we wanted. You get a fully equipped private bathroom in the main building, which is about 30 meters away from the hut. The host is very friendly and she cooks a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Walking distance from supermarket and restaurants.

The wifi did not reach the hut, so for wifi you needed to go closer to the building.

We were on a relaxation break just for a couple of days and needed a nice relaxing base. Riverside was a perfect base in everyway. Nice to be able to drive to Achill and then relax on the return. Lovely relaxed village also. Food in the village was excellent as was the breakfast in Riverside in the mornings.

Nothing could be improved for what we required for this trip. We were delighted we chose Riverside and would highly recommend it to anybody. Erica is the ideal host.

What a beautiful hotel and location right on the river! The owner, Erica, was so welcoming and warm. The breakfast was the best in Ireland. I appreciated all the little details that made our experience there so great.

The only difficulty was turning in and out of the driveway because it is at an angle on a busy road; however there was parking available for all the people staying there.

Lovely 200 year old house in a superb location beside the river. Plenty of places to sit out in the garden and enjoy nature at its best. Lovely walks nearby and the Great western Greenway is on your doorstep.

Lovely tour upon arrival, attention to detail in both the room (even minifridge with milk, plenty of glasses, teas etc.) and breakfast. Spacious and clean room with everything you need. Fantastic breakfast - very much a highlight!

We liked everything! The riverside setting was peaceful and scenic. Each room was beautifully designed and very thoughtful touches that anticipate just about any need. Breakfast was a delight with fresh, delicious food with lots of options. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful hosts, beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities- local pubs and shops if needed. Delicious huge breakfast with the most wonderful bacon and homemade bread and tomato sauce. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Thank you Erica and John.
