Excellent breakfast, lovely place to stay host's Pete&Kim are a great team and make you feel welcome.

We expected a high standard based on reviews we had read here, but really the standard of everything was absolutely outstanding. It's a charming place full of character, beautifully brought up to date as appropriate. Everything worked perfectly, everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, breakfast was superbly cooked and presented. Kim and Peter are pretty much the perfect hosts, keen to attend to every detail without making themselves intrusive.

In all honesty, the only drawback of the trip was that we couldn't stay longer, which is certainly no one's fault but our own!

It’s been beautifully renovated and is incredibly old. It’s like going back a few centuries when you arrive. It’s absolutely stunning.

Only allowing guests to check in during a two hour window between 4pm and 6pm is crazy! I appreciate it is not part of a large hotel chain but a two hour check in window is just too restrictive. We paid for three nights but lost our first night and had to pay to stay elsewhere because we couldn’t get there on time (the traffic from London to Devon was a nightmare that day. My friend is in wheelchair so public transport wasn’t an option for us). The 45 min breakfast is also too short (8.15am - 9am).

Fantastic choice for breakfast and quality first class.would recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely return in the near future.The location was a bonus so near to Sidmouth our first visit and really impressed.

Beautiful surroundings, our room was very comfortable with an amazing shower! Everything you needed with those extra touches, that makes all the difference to your stay. We were made to feel very welcome & very well fed at breakfast, with quality food cooked perfectly.. Many Thanks

Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice and beautifully cooked......the best poached eggs ever! Friendly and attentive hosts and staff and would definitely stay again . Very comfortable room and excellent shower, all tastefully decorated in keeping with such a beautiful old building.

Kim and Peter made the extra effort to ensure visitors' comfort and were outgoing and friendly. Breakfast was good and the options were wide and varied. The shower was effective with plenty of hot water.

The driveway is a bit tight. The room 5 ensuite was very small and uncomfortable.

All breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice and well attended. It's always an added bonus when hot food is served on a warm plate. Breakfast doesn't get much better than this!

Our stay was excellent but the only down side was the ensuite. It's true, it was quite small but useable although how larger guests manage in it I don't know. The shower and WC were perfectly acceptable but the hand basin was almost a non starter. The basin itself was a small kidney shape with a single fixed water outlet which would be improved with a movable outlet that could be moved to one side when the basin was in use. Furthermore there was a glass shelf over the basin which was positioned for its aesthetic effect. I would suggest that this was placed to one side or removed completely. The effect of both these obstacles meant that the useable area of the sink was reduced to the size of a pudding bowl. I have the marks on the top of my head to prove my point. Just a little more thought to the practicalities and a little less consideration to the aesthetics would improve the situation greatly!

Good setting with easy access to local amenities. Pub across the road with tasty food.

The owner and chef were very abrupt, particularly the chef. the lady serving breakfast was lovely

Excellent breakfast and facilities provided. Felt like home from home. Owners very hospitable and a great laugh. Would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.
