Great location. A good base for Lake Biwa, Mt Hiei and the important sights of Omi Hachiman. The house itself is quaint and traditional, yet has modern amenities which meet all reasonable needs. The ground floor has enough space for 4 people to sleep comfortably, and if additional space is needed there is always the huge space on the 2nd floor.
There is also a parking space for one car, which is super convenient for those who drives.
The host who met us on our arrival to do the check in, is also friendly.

The renovations are beautifully thoughtful and clean. It’s a very old house, but feels so comfortable and livable.

2nd level was not furnished. Quite a waste to 0ut 3 of us downstairs. Feel space constraints. House at corner of road. Sign board not visible to locate.

Mio guesthouse was in an excellent location in the canal area of Omihachiman, just a short walk to the ropeway and Himure Hachimangu Shrine. A very picturesque area.
The property was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Air conditioning, heated carpet, great kitchen and comfortable futons. The owners are absolutely lovely and very very helpful. They spoke excellent English too. Price was fantastic value.
We will definitely be back soon!
The wifi was a little weak but we loved the place. No complaints.

It was really great! We happened to go during peak cherry blossom/sakura season and the view of the blossoms and the river from the top floor is so beautiful. The location is just amazing. We really enjoyed walking along the river with the blossoms. I highly recommend this location if you are wanting to stay in a gorgeous traditional Japanese house, especially during cherry blossom season! The hosts were so great and met us when we arrived to show us around the place and also gave us some information of good spots to eat, drink and visit during our short stay.
the privacy could have been a little better. There is a slight gap where people could see in if they are on the second storey of the building behind as they can see over the garden fence and into the living/sleeping area on the first floor. This is such a minor detail and didn't effect our stay at all.
