Came in from Northern VA to visit family in Staunton for the weekend. The home is very charming with a historic feel in a quiet neighborhood. Excellent communication and responsiveness from Kate. Will stay here again if available the next time a big group of us comes to visit.

6 of us stayed at the house for a local
Artists workshop, and we had a fabulous time. The house is lovely, it had more than enough room for all of us, and the communication during the booking process was excellent.
The house is in a very nice neighborhood and an easy drive or about a 15-20 minute walk to the main attractions in Staunton.
Thank you for a great experience and wonderful hosting. We would definitely go again.
Thank you for a great experience.

The house was a short walk to downtown, which was very convenient. We found plenty of outdoors activities: Humpback Rocks, Sherando Lake, Crabtrees Falls and canoeing with Massanutten Adventures.

This property was very clean and comfortable. Location and neighborhood was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped and the large dining room accommodated our entire family. We were in Staunton for a family weekend and to ride the Virginia Scenic Railroad Blue Ridge Flyer on Father's Day. The train ride was awesome! I would highly recommend Quickly's Retreat we had no problems, it was great. We would definitely stay again.

Everyone in the family enjoyed staying at Quickly’s Retreat. It was our base of operations for day trips up to the parkway, down to Lexington, over to Charlottesville, and right into downtown Staunton. The house is on a quiet street and is within walking distance of lots of great shops and restaurants. The beds were comfortable, the Autumn light through the back windows was pleasant, there was a friendly neighborhood cat that greeted us, and we had plenty of space to relax and enjoy hanging out together for four days. It was a great trip and staying at this house was a big part of that. Thank you!

We drove up in the rain just after our check-in time. Even though the day was dreary the cream and red exterior worked to dispel the gloom. Then came the problem - our host had neglected to send us the key code. After contacting VRBO support three times they were finally able to contact the host. She immediately sent us the code and all five of us breathed a sigh of relief and entered the house.
The house is a nicely restored early 20th Century home. There are wood floors throughout and gleaming woodwork in the first floor common rooms, including the large entry hall. The kitchen comes with multiple place settings, lots of breakfast bowls, an immense array of glassware for drinkables, and an assortment of odds-and-ends of edibles.
Upstairs, we used just three of the four major bedrooms. One of our group had a smaller bedroom with a full bath just around the corner in the hall. The rest of us shared a spacious full bath which, unfortunately, did not have locks on the doors. Oh, well - we knocked before entering.
We did not need the fourth bedroom on the second floor. It looked cozy. We did not use the third floor TV room with the bed and sink, but it also looked cozy.
Other than the delay in gaining access the only detail where I felt the property fell short was in lighting. This is an old house, true, but for a series of rainy days the ceiling lighting never did dispel the gloom. This is partly because the host is using CFLs to conserve energy and partly because several of the fixtures did not have their full complement of bulbs.
All five of us enjoyed the house and our time there. The TV worked well to watch an Apple+ movie and the ISU/KU football game because my Apple devices had no problems in using AirPlay to send the video and audio to the large screen TV.
Be aware that there is no cable TV and the Apple TV apps mostly require a login. If you have your own accounts for the apps you want to use, fine, but the ID and password provided did not give us access to the apps.

Beautiful home, close to the heart of Staunton
We loved staying in this beautiful historic home over Easter weekend with my 2 adult kids, their husbands and infant grandson. We enjoyed the short walk to the town, going to the cute shops, and relaxing in the front yard. We love older homes, and this house was very well maintained and beautifully furnished. We cooked on the grill and made breakfasts in the kitchen, and it had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Staunton House
We did have an issue with parking due to snow not being cleared out, which was an inconvenience. The neighbor complained to the owner because we parked in ‘his spot on a public street and Kate the owner of the house requested that we move our vehicle out of “his spot.” Although there was parking available on a pad behind the house we could not access it due to the snow nor could we access the driveway. We had to borrow a shovel so that we could park and gain access to the house. Although we were here for work the house is nicely located near the downtown area of Staunton with plenty of restaurants available

Staunton Wedding
House was in good location and as promised. Wasn't given entry code or password for TV ahead of time but was able to massage host and get quick reply on both. Was a good fit for our needs. Nice big house and very clean.

Great getaway
We came and went to several venues in the area. The beds were comfortable and showers adequate for our group of 4 after a day of hiking. We mostly did breakfast at the house and ate out the rest of the time. The living room, dining room, and kitchen gave us plenty of space to chat and eat and do our own thing as we wished. I will consider hosting my next family get together here also!

The house was clean and beds comfortable. There was plenty of room for us - two couples and 2 singles. We liked how close it is to the restaurants in Staunton. You can walk - it is a little walk or a very short drive. thanks!

More Charming in Real Life than in Photos
We really enjoyed the house (it's actually more charming in real life than the photos) and picturesque neighborhood. The kitchen was well-stocked and spacious - with room for many cooks and helping hands. It's a nice 10-15 minute walk to downtown, so although you're in a neighborhood, you can get to town easily by foot or car.
We had some difficulty with managing the temperature and the thermostat.

Walking Distance to Great Locations
Our group of 5 women on our annual hiking trip had a great stay. Quickly's retreat is an old house tastefully decorated. It was very comfortable for our group. The house is within walking distance to various restaurants and shopping/sight-seeing, which we did almost every day. Quiet street with friendly neighbors. Back deck has afternoon shade for a great happy-hour location. Also sat out there for breakfast as trees blocked some of the sun. Would definitely rent this house again.

Great house & Attractions
I spent four nights in this lovely and spacious home with three close friends. It was well appointed and very clean. We loved its charm and beauty. It was very close to the downtown area and it was an easy walk down and a slower walk back up the hill. The beds were comfortable, the sheets soft and the towels plush. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The owner was very responsive to our few requests. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone staying in Staunton. Don’t miss the Shakespeare Theatre - the actors are very accomplished and the theatre is on the smaller side making the setting more intimate. Great time in Staunton and Charlottesville.

Fantastic House
This was our second rental of Quickly's Retreat. The house is in a quiet quaint neighborhood in easy walking distance to downtown. The house is very well equipped and was perfect for our group of 5 adults. We enjoyed the area surrounding Staunton for some spring road cycling along with the restaurants and shops in town. I would highly recommend this as a vacation rental.

lovely
This is a beautiful house probably built around 1900. It has large comfortable rooms, wood floors, and a beautifully remodeled kitchen. We had a family reunion over Thanksgiving. The house was perfect - dining room large enough to accomodate all of us, 5 good sized bedrooms and even quiet nooks for those needing a little space. We enjoyed Shakespeare at Blackfriars Theatre in Staunton and shopping at the wonderful shops. I would absolutely recommend this home I loved being there!!!

Charming, Comfortable and Quiet
This is a beautiful classic old Staunton home in a quiet neighborhood close to downtown. The home is well equipped with kitchen, bed and bath essentials. We used Quickly’s Retreat as a home base for a group of adult friends to enjoy a long weekend bicycling in the surrounding beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Parkway. Staunton is a wonderful town with all the main attractions within a 15 minute walk from the house.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. It was perfect...

Nice cozy old home
Quickly's Retreat house was the perfect place for my family to gather for all the activities around my niece's wedding. It was the haven we sought each day to get some peace and relaxation in. We had family come in from the Pacific Northwest, from Arizona, from New Orleans, from DC and from Orlando. The house was large enough to accommodate all of us without feeling cramped. We did not need to cook, but the kitchen was well stocked with whatever we might have needed to cook up a dinner or breakfast. Plenty of linens and pillows and towels. Having a washer/dryer available is nice, though we also did not use that. It is a nice place to come home to. The remote key code to enter the house is very handy and easy to use. I did not have to worry how everyone was going to get in when they first arrived. I just gave them the code. Easy. I can only say Thank You to Kate for having a nice home we could use while we were in town.

Charming home in a fabulous location
We had a family weekend in Staunton July 2018, and chose to stay in this extremely comfortable home with our sister and three adult children. The house is a gracious 1920’s home with an updated kitchen (which was very well stocked), multiple bedrooms and bathrooms (lots of hot water for showers too), and a large living room with a comfortable sofa and chairs. (We needed a couple more living room chairs, and just moved them from the small sun porch.)
The house is on a quiet street, but only minutes from everything in Staunton. We enjoyed the great restaurants downtown and wandered through some of the eclectic shops. The “shopping” highlight was Sunspots Glassblowing Studio and Gallery - I cannot recommend that outing too highly!
This rental was really wonderful for a group going to Staunton. We will return there in the future!
Thank you!

lovely home in great location
This house is delightfully furnished with antiques and easily accommodates a large amount of people. It took me two days to discover the sitting room upstairs off the bedroom. Comfortable beds (biggest King I've ever seen). Great big dining table, wonderful kitchen, games provided. A quick walk to Woodrow Wilson library, Shakespeare Theater, and Beverley street shops and restaurants.

spacious, comfortable, and unique
We stayed in Quickly's Retreat for three weeks and could not have been happier. Kate, the owner, was helpful, the house was supplied with every necessity and then some, and the town of Staunton turned out to be quite a gem. We also made day trips to Charlottesville, Shenandoah (for whitewater kayaking), Lexington, and Monterey.

Wonderful five days in Staunton
Very nice house in a terrific location. Kate is an incredibly responsive owner and made sure our stay was as good as it could be. We would not hesitate to return. Staunton is such a great town with the ASC, breweries and vineyards, and lots of other things to do.

Beautiful home! Much bigger than pictures led us to expect. Very comfortable.
Very relaxing! Easy distance from town. Sheets on master bed were fantastic! So much to do in town we didn't get to it all. We will need to come back and will defintetly stay in this spacious home. Owners were easy to work with and fast to reply to questions.

Loved our stay here!
We were in Staunton for our son's wedding and needed a place to stay for a week. Quickly's Retreat was just right for us. There were 6 of us staying in the house and we had plenty of room. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of towels. The kitchen was well stocked. We had Sunday Brunch for 30. The neighborhood is very quiet. The location was perfect. We did have a problem with the stairs. The bottom step looks the same as the floor in the living room and it is easy to miss the last step. Suggestions are bath soap in the showers, recycle bins for each category, and some way to see that last step. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would use the house again.
