We had a very nice and relaxing week in the house of Gunilla. We mostly enjoyed the house and the pool but also went one day to the beach in Vasto about 40 min drive. The drives down the mountain was a bit long and challenging for us but we also went for a very nice dinner one night in one of the small villages 20 min drive from the house. Niklas and Gunilla were very helpful and service minded with the small issues we had during our stay.
Small recommendations for future improvements: we love to have boiled eggs every morning of our vacation and were missing egg cups.
With 35C this July air conditioning in all bedrooms is a need as the fans are not enough during this high temperatures. These are just small wishes and we survived without and had a very nice vacation. Will for sure miss the views every morning.

We received the best package of information as soon as we booked which included many sights to see, beaches, activities and best of all great food recommendations. All of this info was invaluable for our stay at the Casa, help us so much in our planning.
The house is so well situated— views from the outer terrace are breathtaking. The kitchen has everything necessary for preparing meals—we ate out through the day to returning to enjoy a dip on the pool and relaxed over a meal in the evening.
Palmoli is a wonderful place to walk to & explore… enjoyed lunch & dinner at Angelo dei Capricci. Also a highlight that was suggested was at the Al Vecchio Tratturo, where we were treated like family & our courses of food were the best we had experienced—this says a lot for we were never disappointed in any of our meals while away.
There is so much to do in Abruzzo without the crowds we had been a part of prior to our quiet, slow paced week here at Casa Gunilla.
This is the ideal spot to explore & enjoy Italy.

A wonderful property in the most tranquil location, but located in a position to enable one to explore the region.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Gunilla very much. The house is located on a hill near Palmoli. A small village with very friendly people. The house has a nice swimming pool.
The house is very private located with a quiet peaceful surroundings.
I recommend the house for one big family There are 2 bathrooms but the the second one is located downstairs next to the kitchen.
The house is very cosy. There are ceiling ventilators to give you some fresh air during the nights.

Luckily for us it had been a wet spring and everything was green, lush and covered with wild flowers. The villa is well appointed and had everything we needed (except hairdryer so bring your own and Italian plug adapters as they are not standard European). Abruzzo is beautiful and the medieval hilltop towns are sleepy and picturesque. Local restaurants are thin on the ground so be prepared to drive on wiggly mountain roads for 30 mins to get to a better selection - however the drive scenary is breathtaking. We found plenty to do, wine tasting, site seeing, food tours etc and the locals could not have been more friendly or helpful (thanks to sign language and Google translate). The villa has a super pool, comfy beds and all you need for self catering. Bring binoculars to see foxes, Golden Oriels, turtledoves, birds of prey. We also saw wild boar and fireflies. If you love flora and fauna and unspoiled countryside with a mix of peace and tranquility come here. If you are a nervous driver then don't!

Semplicemente bellissimo (quasi unico)

We came here after spending several 'big city' days (Barcelona & Rome), and this was exactly what we needed! Unbeatable views, fabulous outdoor sitting area, full kitchen, pool, books, puzzles, games - what more could you need? Beautiful beaches are about a 25-minute drive, and you can walk to the charming town of Palmoli in about 20-minutes. The hosts provide an extensive list of activities, beaches, and restaurants. We miss it already!

The house was comfortable and accommodate our grown family of 7 very nicely. The view at all times of the day was lovely. The surrounding villages are a little quieter than expected, but the sea was not far away. This was a great place to relax and get over jet lag before tackling Rome.

Traumhaftes Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Where should I begin? This place was spectacular - I wish I could award more than 5 stars. We wanted a nice, peaceful location in rural Italy to relax a bit during our 2 week honeymoon, and this was exactly the spot we had in mind. Gunilla (the owner) was very responsive and helpful in providing advice on activities in Abruzzo, and Craig was also helpful in meeting us at the villa and providing us with additional information. The villa itself is beautiful - secluded with a patio overlooking the mountains of Abruzzo, nice grill, multiple chimneys, great kitchen and living area, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Unfortunately, it wasn't warm enough to use the pool, but we spent hours just sitting on the patio enjoying the view of the mountains and surrounding olive groves during the day, at sunset, and at night in front of a roaring fire. Palmoli, the nearest small town, was interesting to explore, as were Vasto, Termoli, and Santo Stefano di Sessiano (amazing!!). We took a day trip to Trivento, which is a beautiful historic mountaintop town in Molise. Craig booked a reservation for us for a Sunday afternoon lunch at a local agriturismo, which served us an unbelievably delicious Abruzzo lunch. Finally, we met the next-door farmers, Giuseppe and Evelina, who were a pleasure to interact with - even though they didn't speak English and we don't speak Italian! We purchased wine, olive oil, vegetables, eggs, and lamb from them - all fresh from their farm - they even invited us into their house for coffee and pastries. We felt so at home in this villa and area and would love to visit again someday.

We had a wonderful stay in a wonderful house! We spent eight days in Gunillas house and it was a very nice vacation. The house is very nice furnished and everything you need is there. Mostly we prepared our meals at home (sometimes with the grill) and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere around. Thank you very much to Karen and Dave for welcome us and offering so much good food, oil, red vine and other special delicasies. Perhaps it would be a good idea to cover the pool by night because we always had a lot of insects in it. For following guests we remark that the last meters to the house are a little bit difficult to drive (especially with bigger cars) but it's manageable :)
Vasto is really a nice town with beautiful restaurants and beach.
We can recommand this house to all guests who prefer holiday in a wonderful but quiet area.

Lovely house and wonderful surroundings. A bit hard to get the car down to the house but we managed. The house was very clean and tidy, one of the neighbors who welcomed us and gave us the key got to be such a help with finding restaurants and doing true italian things. We some minor problems with the house but everything was solved during our stay and Gunilla always helped us when we called, or Karen & Dave. We didn´t know that it would be quite as far to restaurants and places to visit when we got there. You can walk up to Palmoli but it´s very steep and you walk mostly in the forrest. The surroundings was just wonderful and when you wake up in the morning and look out at the valley you just loose your breath. Vasto was a really nice town where we went quite a few times. There is also an absolutely amazing fish restaurant between Montefalcone and Montemitro. You just HAVE to go there the food is awesome. We had never learned so much about Italy and the surroundings is it hadn´t been for the truly wonderful neighbors K & D.
The house was really nice and the pool was useful in the sunny days.
We stayed for 4 weeks so we really got to test the house and we have made some suggestions to Gunilla but in all we had a marvelous time!

We decided to go to Italy only a few days before leaving home and came across this house on the internet. The contact with the owner was very easy and everything was arranged instantly. The owner was very caring and gave us a lot of useful tips about our stay and the surroundings.
Our contact on site was an extremely friendly native English-speaking couple who made our arrival (and departure) very smooth.
The house is simply fantastic, especially the view from the master bedrooms and the terrace. We spent most of the days and evenings by the pool (great for our two young children) or on the terrace from breakfast til dinner. Candles and discrete outside lightning makes sure the ambiance is right.
Inside is very clean and well furnished. The inside feels brand new while some old charm has been preserved as it is an old and completely refurbished farmhouse.
You feel quite isolated (what we were looking for) but a few very friendly neighbors live a couple of hundred meters from the house.
If you come in late as we did try to bring some basic amenities as there are only charmingly tiny grocery stores in the nearest 20km with limited opening hours. The kitchen is well-equipped and we cooked most of the food ourselves as there are not many restaurants around and it is often easier to eat at home with kids!
Palmoli, a small local village, is just next-doors and if you are sporty you can go there by foot through the "bush". I personally enjoyed shopping from the local butcher who can provide all the meat you want but English will not take you far which enhances the Italian submersion!
It you want to swim in the sea instead of the pool you can find beautiful beaches in Vasto and Porto di Vasto (less commercial).
We can certainly recommend this house to anyone!

We stayed in this gorgeous home in August. We booked it for two weeks. The access to the property is a bit tricky but once there, you are in total seclusion. No other homes can be seen from the property. The views of the mountains are phenominal. The home was exceptionally clean, well maintained, well furnished and the furniture is way better than any rental we have seen before. Our kids ages 4 and 7 enjoyed the pool. Gunilla was extremely easy to work with and made our stay enjoyable. She also provided some good information about the area. We cannot say enough good things about our stay. We would recommend this property to all our friends and families.

We arrived late in the evening, exhausted from work, and were greeted by the fantastic views, candles on the terrace and local wine ready for the glasses. Immediate relaxation. The standard of the property is very high, every detail seems to have been chosen with much care. We particularly enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen, and outside (try pizza on the grill!). The local wine is delicious and food markets in the nearby villages filled with fresh cheese, charcuterie and vegetables/fruits. If you are looking to shop for more than a simple lunch or dinner, go to the markets or the large grocery store in Vasto. The views are breath-taking. Time is well spent on the terrace and by the pool side. You may also hear bells from the sheep browsing nearby. We loved that. As we got ready to leave and looked back on our stay, we realized that we had hardly left the house. The location and property offered all the tranquility and comfort we had looked for. In summary, this is an haven for wellbeing. We can't wait to go back.
