VIEWS and WILDLIFE!
The Little Cottage (TLC) is a sweet retreat where families, couples, or individuals will find the TLC (tender loving care) they need to recharge and renew! The cottage was built in the 1920's and has been well taken care of and updated over the years keeping the original character and adding modern features and appliances. It has a gas fireplace in the living room. Reliable internet/Wi-Fi and TV are all available.
The cottage is well-stocked with games, books, toys, and movies for all ages. The owner is an artist and will supply an easel and some other supplies if you would like to paint. Spend a day site-seeing and taking photographs and then paint your impressions of the beauty of Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, and all the surrounding areas. If you are a writer, there is inspiration for miles around, a desk near a window with a view of trees and rock outcroppings and mountains
There are 2 bedrooms (queen in each) and 1 bathroom with tub/shower, window, and a ceiling heat lamp (for those chilly summer or winter mornings). The cozy living/dining room has a big picture window that overlooks a wooded lot with rock outcroppings and has views of the mountains to the north (including the Twin Owls and Lumpy Ridge). Elk and deer often can be seen browsing here or rutting in the autumn months. A sweet little elk calf was born under a tree here in spring of 2015!
The living room sofa pulls out to make a double-sized bed. There is a 42" flat screen TV and a blu-ray player. Wi-Fi/Internet is on site as well. Enjoy the fire in the gas fireplace. The dining table seats 6. The kitchen was updated and is complete with cherry cabinets, granite countertops, gas range, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposer and all the dishes and small appliances you will need! There is a full-sized high-efficiency washer/dryer set for your convenience.
You will love having a cookout on the deck which wraps around on two sides. The grill is hooked up to the gas line so you do not have to worry about running out of fuel. There is a patio table that seats 6. There is a fire-pit table for roasting marshmallows and being mesmerized by the flames. (I can check with the city for fire restrictions we may have if it has been very dry before your visit.) From the deck or kitchen window you can watch your children play in the playhouse/fort up on stilts or the swing set. (Don't tell them about this in advance---I promise it will be a great surprise!)
Estes Park is a wonderful small town in a high-mountain valley surrounded by mountains. Rocky Mountain National Park is about a 15 or 20 minute drive to the entrance. Most of the year you may have to contact RMNP in advance of your stay and make reservations to get into the park. Plan for most of a whole day to see the park and get out of your car and take some of the hikes and take lots of photos. Be sure to bring a jacket and drink plenty of water (prevents headaches up at this altitude). Perhaps you will drive Trail Ridge Road and visit Grand Lake and Granby, CO or even Steamboat Springs, if you stay with us some time between Memorial Day and Labor Day or maybe as late as mid-October (it is closed during the winter because the snow buries the roads). There are many shops and restaurants in town and the surrounding areas and a lovely river walk along the Big Thompson River in town. The lake offers fishing and boating (rent a paddle boat one day) and beautiful scenery. Horseback riding is available 365 days a year.
You can choose to be as active as you wish and then come back to the cottage for rest and relaxation or games and toys for fun.
If you have a very young child, we have a small crib and a highchair available as well.
We hope you will love staying here! Let us know of any specific needs you may have

This is a cute little cabin away from town a bit but it was perfect. Vicki was great in her response time and gave some great advice for staying in high altitudes. We would stay there again! Thanks for your hospitality Vicki!

The little cottage was amazing! Great location and very close to everything near by! Vicki was amazing at answering all questions we had and was a very sweet host! We got to experience a lot of wild life , right outside the front lawn. Very happy with my decision on renting this little gem. Hope to come back in the spring time !

Home away from home
This was our first stay in Estes Park and our first stay with VRBO. It could not have been better. "The Little Cottage" is perfect. Vicki, the owner, is extremely helpful and hospitable. The house was ideal for my wife and me and our two sons, who are 21 and 16 years old. They were perfectly comfortable in the bunk beds, and our bed was comfortable too. Being able to cook our own meals and wash our own clothes was fantastic. The whole house was so comfortable after a day of hiking in the mountains. The central heat worked perfectly, and it was nice to open the windows for some cool, fresh mountain air.
The photos of the house are completely accurate, but it's still a little hard to grasp the layout. The location is close to the center of town and the Safeway grocery store and is a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. It's on a quiet residential street. We were there for 7 nights and never heard a single noise from any of the neighbors. The front door opens into the kitchen. The compact washer and dryer are located in a closet in the kitchen. The dining table is in the adjacent living room. The two bedrooms are separated by the bathroom. It's very cozy but has plenty of space for a family of four or more since the couch pulls out into a bed. The appliances are compact but are new and work very well. The house was very clean. The front deck wraps around the side and includes a gas grill and fire pit. We enjoyed using both.
The house was fully stocked. Vicki supplied all the essentials and more. She was prompt and responsive in communicating with us. If you're lucky and the timing is right, she might come by and orient you when you arrive like she did with us. On top of everything else, we saw elk grazing in the back yard every day. It was an amazing place to spend a week in the mountains.
If you have any questions, just contact Vicki. You will like her. She's super nice and helpful. If you stay here, you cannot be disappointed.

Great location & value
Overall, the cabin is snug and homey, not fancy but not cheap either. Appropriately appointed, satisfactorily cleaned and well stocked in accessories in the kitchen and bathroom. Only thing I noticed missing was a clothes iron, which was no big deal! Host is very helpful and quick to respond and friendly to top things off! Great stay and probably will book again next year!

Comfortable little house
The house was okay but nothing spectacular at all. It was adequately clean. The shower curtain was really dirty on the bottom and needs to be changed. The kitchen has been updated and is very nice. Loved the washer and dryer. The house was filled with so many things it came across as cluttered as there was not much empty space or wall space at all. It needs to be thinned out a little.

Felt like home. It was close to town & Rocky Mountain national park. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances ,spices ,pots & pans for cooking. Owner thought of all our needs & supplied us with plenty of extra towels, blankets & things to do. Having a washer dryer is a great convenience . Would have gotten 5 stars if stove was working. Cozy & relaxing
Vicki was great! The crib was unavailable so she got a new pack-n-play for our baby to sleep in the night of our arrival. The kids really enjoyed all the games, play area, & wild life! We'd definitely stay again.

Perfect view of Lumpy Ridge in the morning!
This is our second stay at this cabin and my family and I loved it!! The location is perfect. Close enough to the downtown to make everything quickly accessible but far enough to avoid all the hustle and bustle of being in Estes Park in the holiday season. The cabin really has EVERYTHING you need. We cooked a holiday meal and found all the utensils we needed.
Internet worked great! Sleeping arrangements worked for four people (two teenagers and two adults). The view of Lumpy Ridge out the living room window was perfect...we enjoyed many a high mountain sunrise.
The owner is wonderful and super helpful and we wish her the best!

This place was so wonderful. It is cozy but spacious enough for our family of 5 and our dog.
Our overall experience with this property was exceptional. It was clean and well stocked. We were there for 8 days over the Christmas Holidays and had everything we needed to prepare Christmas dinner. The cabin is located in town and close to stores and restaurants but not too close. The neighborhood is very quiet and there was a lot of space around the cabin where the kids were able to play in the snow. It is a short drive to the YMCA where we purchased a day pass. They had lots of fun activities there for the whole family. For example, ice skating, sledding, and even roller skating. We enjoyed the local bowling alley as a family and were able to enjoy a parents date night at the Wheel Bar where we caught the Cowboys' game on the big screen. The owner was available and helpful during our entire stay at the cabin. I would recommend this wonderful place for a couple or small family and we will definitely be visiting again.

We spent the entire summer in the cottage and truly loved it. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the abundant wildlife walk by. We also loved the firepit.
