We were given the suite which was perfect as it was one adult and three teenagers, the suite had two bathrooms two bedrooms and a sitting area, the set up was great, location was ideal as the girls had auditions and was only 8minute drive
It was dated, and had an old musty smell to it,

The suite was lovely, very comfortable. Kids felt safe and happy. They loved the space.
We were on ground floor, upstairs bedroom was a bit noisy but it was still a lovely stay.

The parking - there was loads of sapce and yet some twerp decided to park right next to me and block me from getting into my car comfortably.
Me having completed this survey before because I like to be useful to other visitors but Booking.com asking for it again. Bad, Bad, Booking.Com

Beautiful part of Herts. Local area has plenty of places to eat
No Aircon in the room that was working. 2 single beds put together to make a double bed. Hotel restaurant - poor menu

It looked nice from the outside.
Signage and directions were terrible once inside the estate. The hotel was difficult to find in the dark.

Tasty food - ordered a pizza from the bar menu which was tasty
Hotel is very dated. Low quality reception and bar areas, no net curtain so on ground floor rooms you are visible from the car park, light switches falling off, no hot water on the first night, too many gas company vans using the car park in front of the hotel, only one CCS charger for EVs.

Good food. Fresh and well presented.
No hot water available in the morning, so no bath or shower - disappointing.

An old, characterful building in a lovely location. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and everything was explained to me. I paid for what was described as a small, cozy room so was expecting a small space but was pleased to find a decent sized room with good facilities. A small shower room with a good shower and plenty of hot water. The bar is spacious and comfortable. Lytton's Restaurant was nice for an evening meal with a good menu, also available in the bar. A nice breakfast is served offering plenty of choice. All the staff members I met were really friendly and helpful.
My bedroom could have done with modernizing and the air-con unit fixing or replacing. Unable to supply gluten-free bread at breakfast.

Room was comfy and decent size over looking the golf course. Food was lovely in bar.
Overall nothing I didn’t like

The food was good, plenty of choice to suit most tastes
Needed a second arm chair in a twin room - 2 people = 2 comfy chairs
On second day we were given one hand towel between the 2 of us instead of one each
Poor arrangement with Nuffield Spa meant we had to take our room towel for use after swimming, return it to reception and request a replacement - unnecessary hassle
Also Spa wanted us to give personal details for membership for a 2 day visit and had no plans to destroy the data (we just gave our name in the end and showed photo ID but we had to argue our case)

The location was central to where we needed to be. The bed was comfy.
The lack of staff on during the Christmas period meant that the facilities advertised were not available to guests. We were not able to get room service, access the restaurant or access the leisure facilities. We were travelling from Australia and specifically picked this hotel over others because of the the services advertised and were really disappointed at the lack of effort put in to make guest feel welcome and at home during the Christmas period. The vibe was one of an olds people’s home and lacked the charm that was portrayed in the photos. Our toilet didn’t flush well and took a couple of flushes to get it going and no laundry service. By Mercure standards it was very poor having stayed with them previously in Australia. We felt bad saying anything to the poor staff left to run the hotel during this time as we know they were trying to manage multiple areas at one time, in fact one of the railway workers also staying at the hotel joked that the bar lady was also the waitress, cook and dish hand.

Lovely grounds and nice swimming pool available
Radiators were a bit dusty

Staff were very friendly
Grounds were lovely
Was not clean: hair everywhere, pee stain on toilet, splatter marks on headboard
Air con didn’t have a flap so was directly on your constantly and would turn on and off randomly in the night. There was no remote so had to get up each time.
They refunded me £20 but still overpriced for what we got would say it’s more £60-70.

Sehr gute ruhige Lage.

The location and grounds are lovely.
The air conditioning was not working and the heat in the room was unbearable. I complained to reception and they provided a small fan! s I was on the 3rd floor the windows only opened a couple of inches.

Room temperature! We did not sleep, the weather was not hot but the room temperature was unbearable and we got no sleep prior to the wedding and I had to sleep on the bathroom floor to cool down!

Room & bed
Breakfast very expensive. It was pre-prepared, not freshly made.
Noisy children's party and loud music until late on Saturday night.
Wi-fi had a weak signal. Internet kept dropping out.

The included access to the Nuffield Health Centre is just excellent - a large swimming pool with lane swimming and a sauna & steam room were much appreciated after a long drive. The opening hours are also long, enabling even an early morning swim too..
The welcome was good, the old part of the hotel is charming. A nice terrace to sit & have a drink + picnic benches.
The only thing I didn't like & this is not the hotels fault - is the fire doors in the corridors that slam shut! This woke me several times - perhaps some soft closing mechanism could be fixed to the hinges?

Well what can i say - 100% fantastic!! 5 stars!! The Car park is large and there is plenty of spaces and i didnt fear for my car parking there. The moment you walk in to the hotel it smells clean and fresh with no dirty smells or musk. The staff are welcoming and wonderful. The room had easy access for any one that struggles on there feet or has heavy luggage. The Room was sooooo large and cool with the air con not being to loud. The shower super hot and toasty, the Bathroom Clean, The room was clean, the tea and coffee facilities were clean, the views and gardens stunning. The internet good and did its job. The bed!!! the best part SUPER COMFY and perfect. its the first time i have sat and slept on a bed that was so good. great black out curtains and the TV worked. The Pool and Gym thats there Fantastic!!! 100% recommend this hotel and its facilities. Breakfast is Buffet and there is lots of choice to pick from and hot drinks and two cold apple and orange. Atmosphere was calm and relaxing and was great to just unwind in. I had a great time there and almost wished i was staying there longer it was so good, it was everything i wish other hotels and accommodation's could be.
Now only a few things to point out as the hotel was just so darn good! The gap under the door was so large that if any one was walking past your room you heard them. so as you can image if your trying to sleep it can be frustrating. Also the couple in the room above could be heard making love and then there TV was really loud (but they then left their room so peace was retuned.) The food and drink prices are super high!! A simple Malibu and Coke cost me £6 and a Bottle of water and a J20 £7 then as there was NO food shops or restaurant's nearby i ordered a fish and chips that came to £18 - that i found a little disappointing if I'm being Honest. Breakfast was a buffet Great!! But at £12+ i expect it to be hot this was warm / verging on cold otherwise i cant knock it.

I stayed on the night of 10th June 23, when the temperatures were 30 degrees. I arrived at 11:30pm after an event. The person on the desk wasn't sure if my room was ready, so had to go and check, which was fine and came back saying it was already for me.
I went and it was like a Sauna in the room, so I thought no problem I will switch the air con on, there on the unit was a big notice saying not working.
Needless to say I went back to reception to ask for a different room, and they did swap me to another room. However the Air Con in that room didn't work either and there was no controller to operate it. Luckily the room was a lot cooler than the first so made do for the night.
When I say at an Accor / Mercure Hotel I expect a great standard. The room was clean but it was quite run down, in fact the whole hotel was, and yet it could be so nice.
I wouldn't stay again, I might as well get a cheaper hotel where everything works.

Welcoming with historical features. lots of character.
The bed was incredibly poor. Springs gone or such like. We cut our trip short as we had no sleep the first night. may only have been that one room as have stayed at Mercure before and been very happy. A refund for one night was given without trouble.

The room was ideal for us. Short walk from the lift as hubby has difficulty walking far.
The staff were lovely. Every single one I interacted with was most helpful. The leisure centre is fabulous and whilst I was there I had the pool to myself!!
The gardens are lovely but need a bit of tidying up. Great to sit out on the patio by the bar though. Nice lawns to walk around

The suite that we were
given was absolutely fantastic the service that was provided was outstanding.
The food especially, breakfast was so delicious and there was nothing that you would miss.
So surprised to see fresh smoked salmon cream cheese and a huge range of fruits full breakfast complete array of jams and cereals this place I cannot fault.
The health spa minutes around the corner was so relaxing and available each day at no extra fee.
Honestly all I can say is I'm looking forward to going back there again next month.
Well done all staff but especially the petite lady at the front desk.
Thank you so much for making our anniversary extra special.
Xoxo
The only thing I didn't like was that I had to go home as if I could I would have stayed a few more days.
