Place has sentimental value as was married there 11 years ago.
Hotel very tired and in need of refresh
Bathroom dated however clean was supposed to be superior room

Good gym, pool and sauna and the room was very spacious.
Nice feel to the hotel and the staff were great.
Nothing really not to like… maybe the menu was a bit limited.

It’s a nice old Hotel in a nice place
The room was a bit dated,cobwebs,cracks and Tv not working properly but it was clean and tidy

Eating in was a bit weird, place was empty but staff had to ask the chef if it was fine for him to cook for us and once we finished our meal, we couldn’t pay at the table, we had to pay at the bar round the corner from the restaurant and they didn’t have a clue what we ordered and couldn’t find it, which took about 5 mins.

Single use plastic cups were in the room for tea and coffee, not good, felt the hot water was going to melt the cups, could not hold them, burnt fingers, and spilt drink.
No complimentary shampoo , conditioner, or soap for the sink.
Key card took ages to work,
Chair in bedroom was broken, told they were waiting for new ones to arrive.
Menu was limited, only had one vegetarian option.

The heat radiating from pipe in the room which couldn't be turned off made it really uncomfortable.

breakfast service was speedy and efficient, food was appetising and well cooked, waitress was very pleasant and chatty

was difficult to find staff at reception. Bar had no beer on tap and very limited choice of anything else to drink. Rooms very dated carpets stained and worn.

The teception staff was good. Also plenty of parking spaces available. The option to go to the swimming pool was nice. The leisure centre was OK. Like the rest of the hotel, all could do with a bit of an update. All working, but looks are not great. Diner quality was good.
Staff not always too accommodating. Hotel could do with some TLC. Breakfast too expensive for what you get. Many items (like simple corn flakes) or pancakes were not available from the menu. Only 1 bottle of wine for the restaurant to choose from. Shower was very hot, temperature control difficult.

Room size was above average
No evening food available which we were told about a few days before arriving. Location is outside of main town meaning a walk into to get food. Didn’t use spa, very much in need of decoration throughout the hotel. Staff polite but had to pre book in which we did but had to book in again on arrival.

The bedroom was tired and came with noisiest and most uncomfortable mattress ever. Avoid room 5 folks! We were also turned away at breakfast for being 15 minutes early dispite there being loads of empty tables.....

Friendly staff in leisure club and spa, very chatty and congratulated us on our celebrations, we rely appreciated that he took the time to look at our notes.
Reception staff could do with some hospitality training, their desk is too high, not very welcoming.

A lot of effort seems to have been made to put right things that were criticized previously IE decor of the bedrooms and public areas so don't pay too much attention to previous reviews that criticise tired decor. This had been addressed in the areas I saw

Reception were excellent with us. Moved us room due to leaking tap in the bathroom no problem at all to a very comfortable and spacious double room. Couldn't make breakfast but they happily made us up a wee packed lunch to take away instead. Will definitely stay again. Great value for money.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Pool was nice and is open until very late.
Room and especially the bathroom could use some updating to modern furniture and fittings. Overall the hotel looked a bit run down. Wifi was not the best.
