I loooove this place its amazing!!. The 1st time we ever stayed we slept in room 2 out side down the back now that was perfict for my little family of 5! Lots of space cosey and comfy

We slept in room6 this time it was ok. Maby not good for a family of 5 as the room is abit small and kids just went crazy

Very run down building. The kitchen has that grandparents house type of smell, very old. I think the couches need to be replaced, it feels dirty and it smells too. The beds are the worst. Spring wired base and mattress were too thin and I could feel the wire and it was missing some of the links so it’s like sleeping in a hammock. Very uncomfortable. But being the worst rated “hostel” no one goes there, so I got the whole 7 shared room to myself. Apart from what’s stated above, it was an okay short stay.

The staff was great. Cost-effective. Served its purpose. Hot water was great. Kitchen was clean. Other guests were friendly and quite.

Bed springs in one of the beds were broken but it's a backpacker so it is what it is.

Kitchen and bathrooms might be a little small if the place is full. WiFi could be better tbh.

The top bunk was unstable and dangerous as the ladder was not fixed

The add on booking dot com said "room, microwave and kitchenette" - none off that - was a tiny room with small desk bed and chair. No kitchenette or microwave and pretty sure no room in the place had a separate kitchenette. Is an old youth hostel- they never had those sort of things description was incorrect - Bit poor in this modern world.

Good location. Close enough drive to mt taranaki for hiking and close to town for afterwards.

unfortunate placement of room caused a little bit of lost sleep due to noise of others up until early hours of the morning in the "reception/hangout room" over all was a great time

Some of the people living there long term, were fighting a bit which made the stay slightly unpleasant.

Unfortunately my room was below the kitchen space and it was imposible to sleep... the common area is busy until late and from very early (which is what a common area is for).

Lovely location next to a stream with nice grassy areas. Very peaceful and still close to town.
