introductory chat was like being scolded by a drill sergeant (there was even a pop quiz on the rules) staff member lives/slept right outside our room in an open space which was rather awkward, especially going past in the dead of night.

What did u like- location is easy accessible. Place is overhaul tidy. Easy to check in.

What didn’t you like- the fact I paid just short of £50 for a room both bottom bunks was broken leading me to have to put the mattress on the floor to be able to sleep. Also that alcohol was allowed with others.

Decent, all-day breakfast

The dorm room wasn’t very secure - there is a code to access it, but then you need to press another button to re-lock it, which only 1 of my 5 roommates remembered to do - not a reliable system. Lockers in the room had been broken into and not repaired, and no alternative for secure storage was offered. Half of the showers were out of use. The location is fairly central to the city, but the area isn’t well lit after dark, honestly thought I’d got lost in a dodgy side alley when I first arrived. The staff were friendly but I felt more like an old friend couchsurfing, rather than a paying guest - it’s important to balance the friendliness with also handling situations in a professional way.

We never felt that we are at other place. We felt it like our home. We will definitly choose russel scot backpackers. Highly recommended.

It was exceptionally large family room, stunning, clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious. Overall really happy with the service and room that was great value for money.

There is nothing we could dislike or can see anything wrong with the room. Well done.

Good location, friendly staff, the cleaner Aimee she is very friendly and having a good conversation with people staying. Great to see the formal office block change to affordable hostel.

The room sound proofing is not so good, but you got what you paid for. The room is bigger than I expected.

I loved the atmosphere of the place. The host is wonderful, and the whole stay was very cozy and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. We could also have breakfast there included, which was great. Absolutely recommend the place..

Owner/main member of staff is a little challenging. Very quick to assume the worst. Must have had some terrible guests in the past.
