Such a quaint cottage. Lovely to be able to have delicious breakfast just a few steps away from the cottage. Really lovely staff! There were some issues with the cottage but they were resolved quickly and pleasantly. Beautiful linen and a perfect location.
The bathroom wasn’t very clean, and the Wi-Fi code and blankets missing (the nights are cold). But as soon as I mentioned these to Daniel he was quick to put it all right. It’s all about how issues are resolved, as opposed to the initial issues! 😀

The drop huis has changed ownership and I was booked into the previous owners private home.. the new owner at Dorphuis was very helpful and apologetic but he is not getting the bookings from Booking.com

It is easy to give a good review when things go perfectly, but it is when things don't go smoothly and the property owner makes an exceptional effort to put things right, that reviews really matter. I turned up to my booking to find the property unattended. Short of time, I booked somewhere else. Booking.com doesn't allow immediate cancellation, even though it is obvious that no one needs two different stays on the same night! The owner was very communicative and understanding and worked hard to help process the refund. To me, this is the mark of an exceptional and responsible property owner. Many thanks and best wishes to the Dorphuis!
Booking.com needs a more flexible and realistic approach to immediate booking cancellation, where there is a problem with check-in. Making it difficult for both client and host is not great practice.

Ampie was absolutely fantastic and he exceeded our expectations in every way.. He ensured that our stay was utterly sublime. The breakfast in the restaurant was delicious and we will most certainly be back.

there are two dorpshuis places in Calitzdorp so there were confusion at check in as I showed up at the wrong place initially as the incorrect address was provided.

Convenient location & clean
Church bells ringing every 15 minutes right across road. Unnecessary should be stopped, but earplugs provided helped tremendously.

The location for our driving route and the people in the town. The pool was nice to soak my feet in but not clean enough to swim but it is early season. Wrong WiFi code in room but restaurant staff gave me the correct one.
Couldn't be helped because of load shedding but the generator was right beside our door. The general upkeep of the room could do with having some repairs done.

Breakfast was excellent and the host was lovely, friendly and genuinely concerned and caring in trying to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Location is excellent and parking provided was safe and convenient. Room was spotless and as it was bitterly cold, the room came equipped with electric blankets, as well as extra blankets.
We were placed in a room directly above where the generator is housed (used during loadshedding) and whilst we were warned about the noise, the fumes from the generator came straight into our room to the point where we both got headaches. We felt nauseous and unwell. Would recommend either directing the exhaust away from the room or not having guests in that room during loadshedding times.

Daniel and staff were great as was the Wednesday night special . breakfast was 10/10 - accommodation and closeness to town was a positive . Rooms were clean and beds great with electric blankets and even a touch of a little cherry - we had off street parking at the annex .
