A thanks for the property being pet friendly. We also loved the beauty of the area. As landlords ourselves, however, we cannot recommend the property. There's little pride of ownership and very little attention to detail. Contrary to the description, the house is a duplex, thus shared. I'll be charitable and call it an oversight. Upon arrival, we were given the wrong keys, no garage door opener (thus no access to washer/dryer) and cable wasn't hooked up. All should have been squared away well before arrival. Overall maintenance was sadly lacking. Problems: broken kitchen vent, one bad stove burner, broken tiles and graut, leaky fridge, rusted clothes washer lid (despite claims the washer was "brand new"), water seeping into the filthy garage produced enough mold to make enough penicillin to innoculate India and much more. Unit wax poorly supplied: no cleaning supplies, no mop, knives so dull they barely cut sandwiches, and more. Owners were slow to respond to requests. Owners did the bare minimum to make the unit somewhat liveable, but it was substandard. We reached out to VRBO early for help, but they did nothing. We've stayed at wonderful units through VRBO. This fell short badly. I would never rent out this unit in the condition it's in. Owners did the minimum, then sat back and counted our money. They should be ashamed, but I don't get the feeling they are.

Although a little outdated, and no place to actually lie down and suntan, very comfy and great views . Need own transportation , no buses or train near by

My husband and I stayed in this quaint bungalow for 5 1/2 months (Aug-19 through Jan-20) while we were waiting for our house construction to be completed. The place was perfect for us due to the location and also because it is pet friendly. The unit is not new, but everything was kept very clean and we had new bedding and linens. The house met all our needs and the owner Shelley was extremely accommodating with our very uncertain building schedule and we are forever grateful that we were able to extend our stay until our house was ready to move in to. Thank you!

The one bedroom unit is on the street, lots of noisy traffic, dogs barking across street, gets very hot no a/c. It is in residential area which you would think would be nicer than staying in a hotel but in reality staying at a hotel would be preferable. I have traveled to a number of different countries and would expect to be somewhat disappointed in my accommodations but I was very disappointed in this one. My recommendation would be not to stay in this rental, good luck remember I told you. It is small and could use some paint. Noise and heat would be the greatest disappointments.

Great location in Ventura— convenient, out of the rush, and safe. Owners were respectful and communicative, no issues whatsoever. Everything worked and was easy to use. I was there on a work relocation for 6 weeks, just me and my dog. Only note is that listing says it can fit 4 people— that would be really tight!!! I had a great time and felt comfortable and at home.

If the integrity of a property owner is important to you, PLEASE DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY. While the unit was nice, and our stay in Ventura was lovely, we had to leave early because my daughter had to move north unexpectedly. We gave the owner notice and asked if she would be willing to return some of our money if she could rent the unit out as soon as we left. We even offered to leave early and stay in a hotel if she could rent it sooner. She came to us early one morning as we were leaving for a short trip and told us that she had indeed rented the unit. The new occupants were expected while we were away, so we quickly threw our stuff together and vacated the unit. As we left, she again agreed to refund some of the rent we had paid even though her listing said no refunds. When we returned, we stayed in a hotel for the remainder of our visit. While there, we contacted her to see about the refund. She said via text and email that she was working on our refund. Needless to say, it is now four months later and still no refund and no communication. So, if honesty and integrity is important to you, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS RENTAL. All the other reviews say how nice she was, and this is true, she was very nice to us, until it came to money. When it came to this, she was no longer friendly. Do not trust her. Do not rent from her! In addition to this, we had several other issues. The owner promised to put in air conditioning for us. It was not done prior to our arrival. We had to call and remind her. The unit eventually arrived, it was damaged, had to be reordered and only then was it installed…weeks after our arrival. The installation then caused a problem with the circuit breaker. She told us that she knew there was a ghost problem and some outlets shouldn’t be used. Ultimately, the entire unit had to be rewired while we were in the unit causing an inconvenience as we had to be present while the work was done. In addition, be aware that there was a lot of traffic on the road during the mornings and evenings as people speed up and down the hill in front of the house. If you want to sleep in, the noise was disrupting. Finally, be advised that the owner parked her small motor home in the driveway and/or stayed in the adjacent unit when it was not occupied. If you do not want the owner in your driveway or next door with the front door open wide open watching you come and go while you are there, do not rent this pace. There was little privacy.

I loved loved loved seeing that sunset view through the three palm trees to Santa Cruz Island every night! The neighborhood was lovely and our stay was enjoyable. We were traveling as a family: Mom, Dad, 4 1/2 year old and 15 month old. It was a bit hot in the place in the evenings and we would have loved to know about the fan in the garage sooner, and the grout is crumbling which got under foot a bit, but besides that, we were very comfortable. (My 6 foot husband had to crouch in the shower due to a low shower head, he would have me mention.) The CalKing was amazing and big enough for my husband, daughter and I. We also fit a Pack and Play in the bedroom, as well. Would look into the 2 bedroom with backyard for a future visit. By the way, the Vietnamese/Hawaiin place nearby called Mai's is yummy! And don't miss Boccali's in Ojai! Enjoy!

good short term rental; good to have a place to come home to; owner ready to help with problems. Clean, nice.
