It was beautiful just like a mansion and very relaxing and quiet.
That the pool was only open from 11:00am to 7:00pm
7.0 / 10.0
The pool was great. The entrance has an air of grandeur.
The sheets and beds and bathroom were very nice.
Reception staff were pleasant.
There was a terrible problem with drains when we were there so the entire hotel smelled awful which is unfortunate. We struggled to find somewhere away from the smell to have breakfast even outside on the ground floor outdoor area. I heard other guests mention this too.
The hotel seemed out of funds and very run down despite enormous potential and moments of charm. Our mezzanine sleeping area was difficult to climb up to and very bare upstairs with a cheap flat pack wardrobe instead of the advertised antique furniture.
The pool area shower was not working and it felt like the hotel wasn't really up and running fully fir the season despite it being 1st June.
The local area is really REALLY run down and impoverished. I arrived by train with my children and the website advice is to walk - which we did - but never again. We felt unsafe. And there were almost non existent pavements - often cobbles or dirt so we really struggled to pull our luggage along. Eventually I called the hotel in tears saying I felt unsafe and asked for someone to come and find us. The hotel were understaffed but the receptionist did step outside to guide us the last bit of the way which was a relief but not enough to make up for our awful arrival experience.

We had a great room with air conditioning and the hotel is this beautiful old villa.
Breakfast and restaurant is lacking options and not
good enough for a 4 star hotel, one of the pool staff was rude and really didn’t want to be serving us. The shower was always cold.

Absolutely nothing, except the coffee was good but it's Italy so you can expect that they'll get that right at least
AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! ... The pictures and description are complete false misrepresentations! I would even struggle to give this place a 1 star. It is absolutely NOT a 4 star! Horrific run down, mouldy, damp, horribly decorated place - paint peeling off the walls, scuff marks everywhere, there is nothing beautiful about the decor or architecture as represented by the pictures. The pictures are completely false, the rooms look nothing like it. Noisy appointments, there was rubbish, tool boxes and equipment clogging up the corridors.
The first room was supposed to be a suite, it had a mezzanine floor where the bed was in the roof space, very claustrophobic, and the A/C was poor, old outdates machine which did not even provide any cooling functionality for the upstairs part of the room where the bed was. The room was dirty, paint peeling off the wall, the entire walls were just beige/cream paint and nothing like the pictures you see in the advertisement, parts of the concrete were chipping off the walls the floor in the bathroom had yellow stains everywhere, it was genuinely disgusting.
After we complained about the dire state of the first room, we were moved rooms and the second room we were given was even worse! The second room has an absolutely vile damp stench and the ceiling and plaster was falling off the walls, old creaky spring bed and broken and battered furniture.
To top it all off, the staff were just unpleasantly rude and quite clearly did not care at all. When I complained about the hotel the staff were rude, they told us a new room would be ready at 10am and wasn't available until 2:30pm. When talking to me, the staff kept stopping and going and speaking with other people, a complete disregard for any professionalism.
We ended up checking out as soon as we could and found another place to stay it was that bad. I would absolutely not recommend staying here at all.

absolutely gorgeous room with a real sense of history both of the room but also the building ( former Palace). Fantastic location for visiting both Herculaneum and the train to Pompeii. Safe / private parking was great- lovely gardens.
Wasn’t keen on having a wide screen TV on in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner- local news/music. Effected the atmosphere.

grand facade and pool.
very loud. terrible acoustics in room. woke early each day with knocking and noise from kitchen. noisy party on until all hours. I had to complain. band with saxophonist and piano right outside our room. very squeaky beds all night! no cleaner came in 3 days. we had to go to desk to ask for toilet rolls and clean towels. shower was wonky. loads of mosquitos in room.

Beautiful property with high ceilings and good taste for decoration. Large rooms.
1. Location. Nothing nearby. Nearest shops and restaurants underwhelming - really need a car.
2. Property in need of some maintenance, like redecorating walls.
3. Breakfast was very limited in options and quantities.
4. Some staff struggled with English.

Great location for the ruins. Safe parking. Hotel is a interesting old building with pleasant grounds. Clean and comfy room.
The area has a gritty edge to it which felt very different to Pompei Town. Not everyone I expect would feel comfortable though we had no issues whatsoever. Staff were helpful and friendly but: dinner was let down by cold plates and a side order which didn't turn up till after the meal was finished. I think due to the staff servicing a large party in the other room. This was also an issue at breakfast which was probably quite decent (hot options and milk.. the latter a new experience for us on this trip) but the buffet had been decimated by the big party and not restocked. Staff in our experience will expect you to defer to them when going through a door and will not acknowledge when you courteously move aside to let them do so. They may even greet you as they push buy. We initially saw this as rudeness but now suspect its how you survive the streets of Naples. (We for the record are pensioners). Shower was a bit hit and miss.

the staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are gorgeous
the drive to the hotel and the entrance gate to the parking. if you’ve never driven before in Italy, don’t, the driving is crazy and beyond dangerous. the entrance to the car park is really tight so hire a very small car. in fact just take taxis or an Uber. it’s not the hotels fault, they have the most gorgeous old building so there’s little to do on that front, you just need to be aware that this is really awkward.

I liked that the staff were friendly and extremely wonderful and helpful when I realised we were in a dogbox room with no window but a skylight. My fault as I hadn't realised the difference when booking with Booking.com. Free parking was good and breakfast was average for partner didn't eat it myself. they did put us in a room we could see out of the window in. The attic room was claustrophobic. They did charge us for the upgrade which in an empty hotel was a little rich. but staff so lovey didn't mater.
description of claustrophobic attic rooms. Breakfast

Spacious comfortable rooms. Beautiful bathrooms. Amazing house and garden. Great breakfast. Staff is great, do your best to try some italian words. They will appreciate that. All smiles. Walking distance from lovely harbour and the sea, and of course the Herculaneum excavation area. Ultimitate best coffee can be found the other way from the hotel at Bar centrale a portici, piazza s ciro 36.
Not that simple. You must understand that all the cheaper rooms are at the second floor which is the attic. They have no windows. But dont let that scare you, they are very comfortable. The corridor has a large sitting area on that floor with windows and 2 roof terraces with view of the sea and Vesuvius. Of course lower level rooms are more expensive and have the big windows and views.

Room has only a small roof window, also no any extra amenities like kettle or even cups. Hotel seems to have his best time years ago but it's clean, the staff was friendly and breakfasts reasonable, good location for trips to Pompei or Amalfi coast, nice huge garden and free parking, all fenced and gated - very safe.

The place was spacious and clean.
Plenty parking within the property.
The place was aged and needed renovations.
The originally booked room (double room) was too small and unappealing, we were upgraded to a bigger one at extra cost.
Breakfast was nice but not the coffee.

The staff was nice. The breakfast was good.
The photos of the hotel looked much better than in person. The rooms feels old. The garden was not being taking care of. But the most bothersome was the walls between rooms are paper thin, that you can hear the conversations from the next room (Thank goodness that they spoke a different language) including the people snoring.

Nice atmosphere, beautiful building and gardens, staff were characters. Walking distance to train and to Herculaneum Ruins.
Woken up by squeaky shutters (windy weather). Reception was informed and undertook to oil the mechanism.

The grounds were lovely, and my room was spacious and clean. Also, the hotel is convenient to the city center and sites.

This was a fantastic stay with an amazing hotel team. They were like family ams super ice amd helpful. We loved the historic location amd the beautiful fresco rooms combined with 21st century room service. Was great that the hotel had a garden and pool that we could use and its own restaurant that was very convenient for evening meals.
Service in the restaurant had to be improved but the hotel was aware of this.

Helpful and very welcoming staff, great food breakfast and restaurant in the evening. Building was old but full of lived in character and charm with nice gardens felt very safe. Wouldn't hesitate to go back there again..
Swimming pool was inoperable at the time but looked very nice, bottles emptied into large recycle bin very late into the night. That's being picky..
