Was very pleased with my stay here: the bedrooms and lounge area with kosatsu in tow were very spacious and comfortable, the bath and shower facilities were excellent with a free laundry machine to use with free detergent included, and the hosts were very accommodating, providing a lovely homemade breakfast both mornings once I asked. There is also a bike rental service should one need it, though I didn't use it. There was a slight hiccup on my part when I arrived to drop off my bags and the door was locked (I hadn't noticed the host's message with door code instructions), but a quick message to the host brought her running pronto to sort me out - so extra points for being prepared! Couldn't recommend enough!

About a 10 minutes walk away from the convenience store near the station, but to be expected in a more remote area. The toilet facilities are downstairs and outside in a courtyard area, which was only a little awkward one night due to a torrential thunderstorm pelting it down with little overhead cover, but that's why you should always bring an umbrella!

Good place to stay at to see the Shirahige torri. The place was so spacious and comfortable. The host was generous to let us rent the bikes which was definitely the highlight.

Traditional stay that is a short walk to the station. The furnishings were quite nice, beds were great, and the hosts were very kind and helpful. I would love to stay here again! It's a great base for biking, hiking, day trips, etc.

Everything was great, I would only suggest 1 more air conditioner in the front room on the top floor.

Spacious and clean house. Owners were very keen to accommodate my vegetarian breakfast request. Very helpful. Quite street that give us a peace of mind and good rest. Good experience with traditional Japanese house architecture. We were allowed to use the bicycles.

The isolation of this old house is not perfect. So it is getting quite cold but luckily there is an kotasu and warm bedding. As the bathroom and toilets are kind of outside the house, those were really cold 🥶!

Old but quaint. Real experience of traditional Japanese home. Enjoyed the space and comfort of this venue and even more ideal for cyclists doing Biwaichi.

A great place to stay if you like to experience Japanese style lodging. Bathroom is outside as others have said, but it’s not that bad. They have hot water bath/shower, space heater, and all sorts of amenities. A lot of thought and preparation to ensure that guests would be well accommodated. This was our highlight during a trip to Shiga. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

Free bike rental with prior notice, pretty near Shirahige shrine.

Bathroom and toilet required you to brave the elements before getting in their respective rooms. (Had to walk in open air, not so fun in single digit weather while in thin pajamas)

I was so impressed with this property. The size and comfort for the price made the choice a no-brainer for my next return. I immediately fell in love the this town and lodging here made my stay even better. Huge room with everything I needed.
