Great small hotel. Jacuzzi and pool are heated. It is walking distance from the Old Fisherman Wharf.

My family arrived in the evening for a two night stay at the Monterey Bay Lodge for my daughters birthday.
Pros:
- Economical
- Pool is clean and enjoyable for kids
- Close to the beach, local park and coffee shops
- Patio/Balcony is a nice add
Cons:
- Close to the local airport, extremely loud
- Parking lot closes to the gas station is too small, very hard to get in and out.
- Rooms are small
- Floors very dirty, we had to clean it when we arrived.
- Bathroom paint was chipping
- TV is mounted way too high
- Desk chair does not tuck under the desk and sticks out into the room.
- No public bathroom for the pool
- No cushions on the outdoor furniture during the month of November.

Property was a clean old school style motor lodge. Convenient location. Could walk to beach and Fishermans wharf. However, did not like the gas station across the street.

Pretty much all tourist sites are within walking distance. The street to the west can be a bit loud at night. Overall, I can recommend a stay at the Monterey Bay Lodge.

Conveniently located to the Aquarium, but next to a gas station and a busy road. Also, there is no air conditioning, and your sliding door opens onto the building's walkway, so you can't sleep with the door open.

The location of the property was very convenient. Easy access from highway, Centrally located to drive to Aquarium, Point Lobos, Carmel, kayaking at Moss Landing. However this is motel with a pricepoint of a high end hotel. Accomodations dated, laminate chipping, sink chipped, painting needs to freshend up. Our room door opened to look at gas station.

The staff at the reception is excellent (I do not remember his name but he is outstanding. 5 stars for him). The hotel is simple but fair enough, with everything and clean and in order. The room did not have air conditioner but we did not need it because it was a cool night.

Great location for beach walks and access to fisherman’s wharf area. Nice rooms with amenities like mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Decent bathroom amenities.
Beds and pillows are a little too firm (compared to places with pillow top mattresses.)
Friendly staff, easy check in. Would stay again if immediate walking access to downtown isn’t the priority.

Liked the pool and the area around it. Rooms had microwave and refrigerator that were great. The rooms are a little dated and small parking lot.

It's my second time staying here during the week. Place is always quiet. Bed is super comfortable. The king size bed room had a fireplace. Room is roomy. I used to live in Monterey near the lodge so it's a treat when im back to be in my old neighborhood near everything.

Very close to many things. Perfect location. Can walk to beach, wharf/pier, trails, Dennis The Menace Park, Starbucks, Macdonalds, gas station. Staff very friendly. Only complaint would be the walls are very thin-heard neighbor snoring and airplane that flew over sounded like it was going to land right above us. Overall, would stay again! Location & price was affordable.

Aside from a room that was clean and comfortable, I would say that it was a great location. When we first arrived and I saw people directly across the street from the lodge on paddle boats styled to look like swans, I was enchanted. We look forward to returning in the future.

Location was excellent. Right across from the beach. Super accessible and away from the pier and wharf. Right next to a gas station so it's not your destination if you're looking for a view, but it was impeccably clean and convenient. Would definitely stay there again.

My room when first entering had bugs on the comforter, little gnats. The room smelled like death and was so stuffy and also smelled like mold. Toilet didn’t flush right when I arrived. The tv wouldn’t connect to the internet network so couldn’t watch tv. The tub had rust stains that looked like vomit/poo stain. The worker Susan was so rude and kept pressuring me to stay even though I refused. Worst hotel experience ever and so nasty!

Absolutely wonderful place ! Fantastic customer service! I love their patio area next to the pool. Our room was so clean and the bed was very comfortable! This is our spot moving forward when we come to visit the area.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was very clean and quiet. We enjoyed being just steps from the beach and easy access to Monterey Bay aquarium, old fisherman‘s wharf, Carmel, etc. The swimming pool and spa area were very nice, and we also enjoyed the fire pit area as well. There was no air-conditioning that I know of, so I especially enjoyed the sliding glass door that provided great fresh air, opened up the space and lead out to a veranda with seating that overlooked the pool/spa area. whenever we had request, the staff were very obliging and quick to respond. Overall, we had a great time!

I just had foot surgery and am using a scooter. I requested ADA rooms on the ground floor for me and for my 85 year old mother. When we are arrived they had no record of my call and assigned us 2nd floor rooms. 😠 They moved us to ground floors that were definitely not ADA. No grab bars in the bathroom or walkin showers. Tiny bathroom. On top of all this the parking area in front of our rooms was be worked on so we couldn’t park near our rooms. There was one handicap parking spot around the counter of the next building! Another problem was the refrigerator. We had to turn it off and couldn’t use because it made this low whirring noise, almost ghostly.
