Beautiful little hotel, perfect location and excellent, friendly owner. We shall be back!

We were on a 'late decision' trip to Antwerp and found this pearl. Very good value for money with the perfect location, extremely friendly staff, cleanliness and nice details like a complimentary small prosecco. A small fridge always come in handy as well. We'd rather seen some soap/schampoo dispensers on the wall than the small plastic bottles, but still nice to have it included. We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy place.

If you are ok with stairs then this is the place to stay in Antwerp. A quirky old building right in the heart of the city. Eric made us very welcome and gave us great advice about where to visit. The hotel is only a few minutes away from the amazing museum Plantin, which celebrates printing , the early production of books, maps and atlases, the early development of medicine and pharmacy, and as an aside it is full of Ruben's paintings. It is possibly the best museum I have ever visited, unfortunately we only had an hour but we could easily have spent much more time there .

Hotel Matelote is a small boutique hotel in the old town, nice hotel, nice breakfast, nice location, a great place to stay in old Antwerp.

Wonderful little hotel in a quiet street in the city, great room, nice and spacious and super cozy. You can tell they really care about your stay and if you're comfortable, only thing would change is a smoother check-in since we arrived late and there was no one there, although they did allow us to get in awesome breakfast started at eight so we didn't get to enjoy it since we had to leave early.

Lovely room high amongst the roof tops of Antwerp near the cathedral. Lots of space , well designed. Very friendly management.

Unfortunately during the COVID crisis Antwerp felt a bit sad and lonely, most restaurants were closed and the ones open only allowed take-away. Little to no tourists, while this can come as a great opportunity to take amazing pictures with annoying people on the back, the charm of the city was gloomy. But better days will come!

Great location, very nice common area, pleasant service but room is very small, No elevator and steep staircase. 12 euro for breakfast a bit too much but they offer free tea, coffee and even drinks during your stay.

Was only for 1 night so it’s hard to rate fully. Super central Location. Staff very friendly. Clean rooms. Free stuff a nice bonus. Can’t fault for a short city break

This is a nice little hotel on a quiet street in the middle of the old town, and an easy 20 minute walk from the train station. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a nice soaking tub and separate shower. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The only caveat is that there is no elevator. We had the top room at the hotel, so our room was up 3 flights of steps. The staff was more than happy to help with the luggage. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Easy to go center of city. Big room.

Very nice boutique hotel in a great central location. Close to the Christmas Markets and great restaurants. Parking available nearby. The room was unique in that the bedroom room and living area was on the second level going up a spiral stairway. Not easy for those that have difficulty with stairs but for us it was very nice to have the two areas separated. Breakfast was simple but good enough for us. Very typical breads, meat, cheeses and boiled eggs. Overall a very enjoyable stay for two nights.

However, being an old building I could hear every footstep of people in the room above. A continentAl breakfast was available at an extra charge, but was very basic.

Hotel matelote is centrally locate din Antwerp and has an impressive look from outside. The people at reception is warm and gentle; therefore the hotel conditions do not correspond to expectations. Breakfast lacks taste and variety (for its price) and not enough tables for the guests - and this happens despite you have to register to breakfast the day before. The room I was assigned was tiny and smelling paint that gave me a headache (and this I could only realize once coming back to sleep). The bathroom location was very odd and without place to hang your belongings. Wardrobe had not enough place for hangers and it was filled with a small refrigerator. To finalize, the access to the room was through a spiral staircase that a medium luggage wouldnt fit (fortunately I was there for one single night and had a small one). To close my comments, the staff was not helpful indicating you the nearest parking place (as the hotel does not have one - and this is not indicated at their site).

Excellent hotel with good facilities and friendly staff. Close to many good restaurants and in the heart of Old Town

Very charming hotel, excellent location.People should know that there are no elevators, I ended up carrying both my bag, and my wifes two floors up... They offer no slippers either...But I would still strongly recommend it for other travelers
