I hope you read this review before you book this hotel. I will recommend you DON’T book this hotel. It was the only one available for the night we wanted to stay in Miyajima so we had to book it. We read some bad reviews but we risked it. Well it was VERY VERY bad. The hotel is very old and it feels unkept and dirty. The comforters were supposed to be white but they now look yellow with stains. Completely disgusting. Additionally the entire hotel smelled like strong seafood all over. Not in a good way! We had to put towels in the door so that they strong smell wouldn’t come into our room. We ended up spending our time outside of the hotel until late at night and woke up super early to checkout because the smell was unbearable.
You can have an old hotel but at least keep it clean and fresh. This hotel needs a renovation and new management. We 100% regretted booking this hotel.

We stayed only one night, the Japanese room was clean and quiet.
Great breakfast with Japanese and European choices.
The only problem are the inside shoes for people with big feet they don’t fit.

The food was incredible! Loved the seafood choices

Nice view

Nice location and the island is fantastic. Our room was very run down compared to others who had the same newer areas and views. Very average for the money. Room was traditional which was not mentioned when booking. Had to set up beds ourselves. Not fun after a long day.

location good. food bad. room uncomfortable.
3.8
A good opportunity to experience sleeping on futon and onsen

For the price, we were expecting more.
It’s an older hotel that could use some maintenance. The location is great for access to all areas.

Convenient location and large room. Very few eating options on the island after 7

The traditional Japanese experience was a nice idea, but from the beginning with having to where slippers, that were only one size for all ( much too small for me) it fell short. The room was spacious, the view was a very partial view of the water mostly looking at roof tops and backyards. They included dinner and breakfast and although there were a lot of choices the quality was very bad, worst food experience on our two week stay in Japan. Breakfast looked like they brought out several items from the night before. On a positive note the hotel is close to all the shopping and the Otorii Gate. They don't offer a shuttle from the ferry to the hotel (saw many other hotel shuttles) and the walk is about 15min, so dont bring a lot of luggage! The island is incredible and I will be back, but not at the LiveMax

After walking up Mt misen it was a luxury to check into this hotel and not have to do any climbing for the rest of the night. The rooms were spacious, bath was wonderful and the buffet was delicious.

A bit of a walk uphill from ferry building, printable directions would have helped. Loved this hotel, they were great, they recommended a place to dine that was great considering there is basically nothing open at night on Miyajima. We loved our experience, thank you for everything

Very pretty hotel and well situated. Only 5 minutes on foot to the souvenir shops/restaurants.We spent 2 nights on the japanese style room. We enjoyed the Free Rental of the yukata, there are many colors and sizes. Just a small annoying detail, there are no plug for the mobile phone near the bed. We recommend this hotel !!

Excellent breakfast, decent room, bathroom a little small

New hotel with reasonable room price.
Food in buffet style in average standard.
Need to walk around 10 min from the pier while near to the shops.

Excellent hotel in Ryokan style. Rooms in japanese style with low table and madrases to pulle out on the floor. But a very comfortable bed og excellent feather deck. We were offered a smokers room, but within 30 minutes the very helpful englishspeaking staff had removed the smokers odeur from the room. Good location. Fine breakfast with many variations. Good spa facilities but you will have to pay extra for luxury. We experienced an earthquake the second night but alle were safe.

I stayed in a traditional Japanese room. It was spacious and comfortable. Reception upon entering was wonderful. I took off my shoes and put on slippers. The check-in was easy and pleasant. I made use of the private bath and a massage and both were wonderful. The only flaw with the massage space was that you could hear the karoke that was nearby. Miyajima is a great tourist destination. At night it is much quieter and very pleasant after the crowds leave. Breakfast was included and very nice.

Good to be on the island when most of the people have left.

People who work there were very friendly and nice. The room was spacious and clean. The onsen was also nice and clean. The location was good as well. Overall, we had such an amazing time while staying there. We would love to stay there again when we come to Miyajima in the future.

New and nice hotel
3.8
It requires a bit wlak from the pier, but the condition of the building and room are quite new. If you dont have much luggage, it is a good choice.
3.8
The reception area is very pretty and staff are friendly. The rooms are adequate and the breakfast buffet is ok. The onsen baths are lovely too. Now for the not so good. Noisy leaking gutters that dripped and gurgled all night. Thin walls that you could hear people whatching tv. And if you want arrive too late to order dinner, 3pm... You are out of luck . The town has nothing open after 5pm. We found noodles in the gift shop, but they were the boil in the pot variety.

The LiveMax resort feels more like a traditional Japanese hotel than a resort. We were able to drop luggage early and then complete checkin later with a lovely young english speaking receptionist. The room was beautiful, large and peaceful as we sat overlooking lush green foliage outside with good privacy.

Nice cost hotel. Great staff from reception to restaurant. Would stay here again.

Everything was a good experience except for the food. We were traveling in various southern parts of Japan and had stayed at other Ryokans and hotels and was very disappointed with the meals at this otherwise nice place. The meal was buffet style for breakfast and dinner. We were disappointed with the quality and selection. For Breakfast, we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get seated from our reserved time, and as the last seating time, we felt very rushed to finish eating. Noticed the chefs did not refill the 3 or more empty dishes. It was my understanding that the management is new. Perhaps the kitchen staff was not experienced to handle large crowds which was the case during the Obon season. The staff was very helpful and kind otherwise. It was very convenient to town and the ferry terminal. Overall facility was very fell maintained.
