Excellent location, just few steps from only pedestrians street with a lot of restaurants and shops. Mirabell palace and gardens are in 15 minutes walk, Salzburg Cathedral is in 20 minutes walk etc.
Hotel is very simple, but has everything you need for a short stay. Pleasant staff, very clean and has a good breakfast.

The rooms are soundproof and I could not hear the very loud church bell at 7am. The air conditioning is self regulated and gets very cool. A point that most hotels in Europe do not have. It was in the mid 90's when I was there. The breakfast is fabulous and you can eat outside. There is plenty of room to use in the lobby and the courtyard if you need extra space. The location is great, you will be walkable to almost everything. Very close to Hop on/off bus.

The hotel is well located for touring sites in The Old and New Town. Also close to a laundry with limited self-service and drop-off service.

Wonderful staff at check-in. I especially appreciated their own parking garage, but be ready for very small spaces. Rooms were comfortable and clean AND has air conditioner - a plus as it was a hot 2 days. Breakfast buffet was quite good and extensive.

Clean, great location and good value for money compared to anywhere else we looked in Salzburg!
2 min walk into the new town and 10 to old town.
The room was compact but clean, and the bed was comfy. We had a nice view over the courtyard and it was very quiet at night this side of the hotel. Athough no coffee/tea in room, you could self-serve from near reception, free of charge. We parked at the hotel, and it is expensive, but limited cheaper options are available and it was secure.

Nice hotel within easy walking distance of the city. Rooms were comfortable other than the AC which made quite a bit of noise. Breakfast was great.

The Breakfast was amazing! You can get coffee anytime you want, night or day. I was thrilled that there was underground parking at the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It is within walking distance to the river and the Market Place. We even wandered into the Farmer's Market one day while we were there.

Rooms & shower are small. Had an odor coming from shower drain or a/c unit. Mattress sunk in middle. Would not recommend room with balcony if you are not a smoker. No dividers on balcony so you will breathe in the smoke or it will enter your room if balcony door is open.

Great location. On the same street that takes you to old town. Breakfast was good and clean. After 3 weeks of traveling and 4 hotels in Europe, best breakfast offered so far. I don't utilize housekeeping, so I can't speak to it.

Loved this an accommodation. The location was perfect for shopping and eating out. Room was clean and comfortable. We had breakfast included in our booking. This was perfect as it was a full buffet breakfast with a very good selection. Loved the idea of the little lounging/waiting area near the luggage room where we could have complimentary tea and coffee whilst waiting for check in. The staff on the desk were very helpful and pleasant. All in all a great hotel. Thank you Altstadt Hotel ❤️

There is nothing I didn't like except for probably a weirdly working AC, that allowed for a very limited range of temperatures to be set.
The definite and GREAT positive is the location within walking distance to all major places to see.

Good initial reception. Room was well equipped (apart from tissues, which most hotels provide)
Breakfast was efficient and standard food choices offered. Tea/coffee available free 24/7 with plates provided should guests bring food in.
Good location for sightseeing and a stroll to the Old Town, with good restaurants nearby.
Bus to/from the station stops outside the hotel.
Some staff made eye contact regularly, others less so.

Great, simple hotel with buffet breakfast and free tea and coffee all day. Spotlessly clean, the hard tiling means noise carries a long way, especially when other guests are wheeling cases early in the morning and late at night.

I am from Canada this is a great hotel, close to old town (15 minute walk) and hop on bus. Easy to take a bus from the airport to 2 blocks from hotel. 20 minutes walk to train station. Breakfast was satisfactory. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very good position for walking into Salzburg. Hotel clean and practical comfy bed and good bathroom. Breakfast was really good. We travel with Bertie & Lola our two mini dachshunds and we were charged just €6 each p night.

Location made for an easy walk into town. Nice selection of restaurants and shops on the immediate area. Staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Breakfast was well stocked with varied options which were constantly refilled. Only negatives were the size of the room especially the bathroom. Tiny shower space and strange overall layout made it cramped and difficult. I might stay here again.
