Great welcome and communication from John & Amy. Lovely comfortable house. Excellent breakfasts. We requested a sea view room, fantastic choice great views over Newquay. Large room, great to have 2 comfortable chairs by the window.

Best holiday and stay. So welcoming and the accommodation was clean to high standard and had everything you needed. Breakfast was amazing. We will be going back and everything was what we wanted.

Amy and John were really friendly and hospitable hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Good facilities including an honesty fridge, an excellent view from our room, a tasty breakfast and a brilliant location just a few minutes' walk from the town centre. Covid procedures all followed too. Would happily recommend to others. The only slight negatives were low water pressure in our room (however it turns out this is a temporary fault which was only reported to them by the previous couple and they hadn't had a chance to have it fixed before we arrived) and a lack of air conditioning in the room (but lovely big windows and I'm sure they would have provided a fan if we'd asked for one).

We had a really lovely stay at Geckos Rest. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in really good condition and was spotless. The breakfast was delicious.

Our hosts were friendly and helpful, breakfast was great too. Well situated, close to the shops and the sea view was glorious.

This is a great holiday stay, the owners could not do enough for us, very friendly and accommodating. Lovely clean hotel, every thing has been thought of down to the smallest of detail, such as where to hang the towel when you are in the shower, adjustable heights in the shower with shelving for your bottles of shampoo etc. Definitely on top of my list to revisit.

A fantastic BB run by Amy and John. The room was just perfect with all that one needed. The breakfast choice was great and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts to prepare for the guests. 10 mins from town centre. Could not have asked for any thing else. Highly recommended to any looking for a stay in Newquay near the beach.

Welcoming, great breakfasts with good choice of food, tea & coffee making facilities in room, along with ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin, also in room a hairdryer and ironing equipment, bed was very comfortable, no problems whatsoever

Amy & John were wonderful in all respects. They have us tips and advice on all manner of local and area items. We could not want for anything in our room and breakfasts were varied, wholesome, and certainly tasty. You should stay at Geckos Rest.

A nice place and reasonably priced but I feel the customer service was very poor and unprofessional.After arriving in the afternoon following a 5 hour drive we were lectured because;1- they “don’t allow kids” which was a complete lie because on all websites advertising this establishment it says ‘families welcome’ and2- because there were 7 of us and they “don’t do group bookings”. We’d all booked separately so wasn’t aware of this and he was very upset and quite rude because “it’s a nightmare when we’re full and everyone checks out the same day”(!!!!) wow. Have you ever heard such nonsense? The owner of an independent B&B complaining of a busy summer with all those bookings!! I suggest you hire a maid, Sir.He also had a meltdown over the thought of having to cook a load of breakfasts at the same time, even though they only offer guests a 1 hour window to opt for free breakfast and there’s no more than 20 seats in their dining room.The icing on the cake for me was on the first night around 9pm he was rude towards my Sister when she asked him for some warm milk for her 3 year old daughter. I’m amazed that the reviews are so great as I don’t believe for one second that this was a one off.So, if you want to be greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome go somewhere else, there’s plenty of 4 star places to choose from.We certainly won’t be returning to this establishment.

The premises were immaculate and the owners very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good with a wide choice and overall we strongly recommend Geckos Rest.

I can get a bit picky sometimes when staying at places, especially when I see simple, sometimes small items that could be fixed that spoil a stay. I could not fault Geckos Rest, everything was spot on. Room, food, comfort, view, amenities all top notch. Thanks guys for a great friendly stay.

Very enjoyable short break by plane to Newquay from Gatwick.

We had a lovely stay here while we hiked the south west coast path. The hosts were wo helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was great - a good start. For my daughter, who is vegetarian, the menu was particularly to her liking. A plus, as we were so tired at the end of the day, we didnt want to face a restaurant at the end of the day, we were offered the use of the dining room to enjoy our take away. Thanks for the great stay.

We felt welcome the minute we stepped through the door. Very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely view from our room. Breakfast is great experience and they will make you a breakfast bag to go if you depart early.Definitely recommend.

The location of the bread and breakfast was 10 to 15 minutes walking distance of restaurants and shopping. An early Breakfast was offered daily. I enjoyed my stay.I was, however, disappointed when first arriving. I was under the impression Geckos Rest was on the beach. I was also surprised how close the buildings and homes were to each other. I was given the idea that the area was more of a quaint village setting but it was more of a crowded touristy seaside resort.The rooms were clean but small. The shower was extremely narrow and movement was limited.

Great stay! John was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was a delicious English breakfast but could be amended as necessary. easy walk to the centre of town and about 15 minutes to the main surfing beach.

Stayed for 2 nights whilst travelling for 7 days around Cornwall. Perhaps the best hotel out of the other 3,the room was immaculate, the hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was spot on! Newquay is such a vibrant town and since the hotel is located within only 5 mins walking from the town centre we had time to thoroughly enjoy it without having to allocate time for getting back or driving. Highly recommended, no wonder they have such a high score on Expedia & Trip Advisor!

I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend. Great location, lovely clean room, parking was available. Amy & John are so welcoming friendly and helpful, & provide a hearty breakfast to kick start your day! Space upstairs to hang your wetsuit if required, & plenty of DVDs /board games for use during your stay. We would definitely go back :-)
