Booked one of the Deluxe King rooms with a lake view that was fully remodeled (please see reference photo), or so I thought. Upon check in and entering our room, it was obvious it wasn’t at all how the photos would have you believe (I have attached the photos as well). I immediately called Hotels.com and was told we needed to speak to the hotel employee to see if they would cancel for us as there was nothing else that could be done. I was also informed that the photos uploaded so us customers can see what they look like, are not confirmed in any way so they can upload anything they prefer. Of course they wouldn’t cancel for us, but we were offered the option of paying more money for a room that looked the photos and what was booked in the first place!! Complete scam artists in our opinion and I advise everyone to take that into consideration when booking with them.

This property deserves a zero rating! The room doesn’t look anything like the pictures that were shown. The first room we were brought to didn’t even have a light switch on the wall that worked paint was literally peeling off the wall in 4 x 6 chunks and the bathroom looked like it was 30 years old and had never been scrubbed. I immediately turned around and told the receptionist that the room would not work for the evening and we needed something else. She brought us to a family owned property just two blocks away and this room was even more disturbing. There were blood spots on the sheets, big huge stain on the wall, looked like something was thrown against it, chunks of laminate out of the desk, the bathroom floor was nearly completely worn through the linoleum, and the shower had black mold where the grout should be on the ground. There is no way that this hotel can possibly pass any kind of inspection. We decided to drive back home instead of staying at this filthy nasty place. We had reservations on September 1 which was right before the Mackinaw bridge run and we’re charged $298, we were told it was completely non-refundable! When I was told, I wanted the card of a manager, she kind of laughed and said I am the manager, and we don’t have any Business cards. I simply can’t tell you enough, DO NOT stay at this place!

Room bore absolutely NO resemblance to the photos on Expedia. AND there were many other tenants who were having electrical issues as we were. I'm sure the 4-5 room appliances plugged into a singe powerboat was a violation of codes. Should be reported to the appropriate city officials. This is a family owned property and they own three ogthers nearby. Wouldn't be surprised if there were the same. Cannot believe people who age this an excellent rating.

The view was nice The sliding glass door lock did not work. The entry way door had to kick it open or hard shoulder it. Parking was tight for big vehicles. The pool was green.

Passable for a one night say, bed was clean but very hard. Air conditioning did not work and could not open the windows because the screens had many holes. Beautiful view of Lake Huron and the Mackinac Bridge.

I’m so glad we tried this place ! The view the beach right outside your door dogs were allowed. I didn’t take my dogs but I got to visit with others. The beds were good the room was clean. I was shocked at the water pressure! I have long hair and after being on a motorcycle my hair needs lots of conditioner to get the knots out. Most places with the water pressure the hot water runs out because it takes so long to rinse the conditioner out. NOT HERE !!! And the hair dryer didn’t take 45 minutes to dry my hair. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK !!!

Never again would i stay there. The staff was rude,the rooms are unbarely gross (holes in the was mold in the bathroom with a musty odor) the pool was unswimmable. I actually did not stay there and they would not reimburse my money

The location is fantastic! The staff is very friendly! The price is good. Walk out of your room and wade into the lake. We loved everything about the Sunrise Motel except the room. Smelled musty and is in desperate need of updating. The bathroom doesn’t have a fan so after a shower the whole room feels damp. The toilet seat was very loose. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean. Overall we were satisfied with the Sunrise however some minor updates are definitely due.

They have recently remodeled and it is beautiful. The view was better than a lot of the big name places. It was quiet and right on the beach. I will absolutely come back and look forward to staying here again. We were on the second floor and I was more than pleased with our room, balcony and view. We got there after hours and the staff was incredibly accommodating and kind. 10/10 completely recommend

This property is fun because if you secure a waterfront room, the lake is accessible right outside your room. But….. the two pools and the hot tub weren’t working. 5/6 in our group wanted the pools. We should’ve been informed about this. Second, the inside of the rooms were clean but outside on the walls and grass, it was dirty. There are bugs, cobwebs and goose poop everywhere. I’m an outside person but it was gross. Lastly, my cc was charged before I even arrived. I don’t appreciate that. I’m not sure I’d stay at that location in the future.

This is a great little motel that is in the middle of face-lift. Our room was so nice. It was newly remodled floor to ceiling knotty pine. Beds were very comfortable. Great views of the bridge and own private beach. Can't wait to stay again.
