Stayed in the place for the weekend. It was a cozy place. AC was up and running when we arrived which made the arrival comfortable and relaxing during the high temperatures.

First, let me say we chose this rental for the location which was perfect for our needs. We arrived late at night. The entrance is through a gate off an alley behind the house. It does not have the address on the fence or gate. There was no outside light on in the yard. We found our way in the dark and had to climb a steep set of stairs that looked none too steady. The bedroom has no door and there is no clothes dresser. The only option is to hang clothes and/or live out of suitcase. The sheets don’t fit the mattress – there is no fitted sheet on bottom, so the sheet comes untucked every night. There is no regular blanket, only a very heavy winter comforter or a half-sized fleece throw. Pillows are limp and thin. The bed frame is much larger than the mattress and sticks out awkwardly so you trip over it easily. It appears from earlier posts that it has been broken for a long time. There are few basic kitchen supplies. Salt shaker is empty. Coffee filters are too large for the tiny coffee maker. There is one kitchen towel made of non-absorbent fabric (homemade?) No hand towels or dish cloths. Guest “manual” has no useful information about how to access the streaming channel(s) we’re supposed to have. The remote appears to need charging, but there is no charger. We contacted the host several times about this. He replied but his suggestions were not helpful. Noisy neighbors from Day 1. Yelling and thumping until after 1am. This continued for the duration of our stay. Sound drifts up constantly through heat vents. Seems very poorly “soundproofed”. There is a table lamp in living room but no plug nearby to plug it in. Overall, the space served it's purpose, but it really did feel like a marginally outfitted college dorm room.

CONTEXT: My wife and I decided to go to Kansas City on a somewhat last-minute, long-weekend trip to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. THE GOOD: The location of this property was great! Super close to all the touristy areas of KC (e.g. minutes-long drive to The Plaza, Crown Center, etc). The neighborhood it is in isn't as swank as, say, The Plaza, but we felt comfortable walking around it at night. It has two window AC units which kept the place nice and cool during 95+ degree weather. Also, the price really can't be beat. THE NOT SO GOOD: This property really needs a qualified craftsman to come through and redo it. Lots of trim, paneling, fixtures, and even the decking are either actively falling apart or seem liable to do so soon. The bathroom has an ant problem (and they DO crawl up your legs while you're in there) and does NOT have an actual door. Lastly, lots of trash was left behind from (what looked like, at least) an old bed frame that the owner told me he replaced weeks ago. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Taking all of this into consideration, it was a good stay if you don't mind living like a college student for a few nights. I couldn't imagine staying here much longer than we did and being comfortable.

Property was a good value. There are many stairs so be aware if you have difficulty carrying your luggage. Would consider staying again.

Fantastic place in a fantastic location!
Fantastic place in a fantastic location!
Short version: it was a great stay and I'm very happy Long version: I had a weeklong convention in Kansas City - after seeing the eyewatering downtown hotel rates (PLUS daily parking!), I opted for this apartment just 4.5 miles away from the Convention Center. It takes barely five minutes to drive there from the apartment! The apartment was exactly as described, with everything clean and ready to occupy. Air conditioners were already running when I opened the door, so the place was at a comfortable temperature. I was SO happy to see ground coffee available for the drip coffee maker... because I'd packed a bunch of K-cups! Shae and Lance were very fast to respond to my messages, mostly about small details. I was concerned about some minor floor creaking noise when I walked: but several guests in the lower apartment assured me they heard nothing. I heard nothing from downstairs either, so it's very quiet. Alley parking is easy and convenient... more than the street parking, in my opinion. The location sort of busted my diet, however, being located a block from Donutology to the east and Andy's Frozen Custard to the west. It's also a block between QT and BP gas stations, however, for convenient fill-ups before hitting the road. I drove the eight whole blocks west into Kansas (just to say I've been there LOL). The information book on the counter was a great touch! I'm overall very pleased with this stay: and if I have occasion to return to Kansas City on business or leisure travel, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks guys!

Pros: Good location close to many bars and restaurants. Off street parking was a plus. Cons: Communication with host was delayed. Bed frame was broken and we ended up fixing it ourselves.
