I had a very pathetic experience there. My train got cancelled because of train strike and I reached there at 11 pm. I kept on knocking and calling the hotel but no one picked up the call and no one opened the door. I tried the code given on the booking email but the door didnot open. Although I had my booking done a week ago. I was standing alone in midnight outside in the street and I didnot have any place to go. Then I booked another hotel Grainger hotel that was nearby. Luckily I got the room within that time and I booked it. This is so unprofessional and unethical.

Nothing at all.
They said the check in is from 2 o clock instead of 11 and i had to wait until 5 o clock to get into the room. The room was dirty, no heating at all, i could see my breath in the room. They were very rude and asked 80£ for the week... The bathroom was dirty, toilet even more dirty...

There is no hot water, we could not bath and no one answer to our request. There was nobody to attend us , was put in a room i did not choose and paid for. i selected and paid for a room of 2 people but was put in a room of 6 as they said that was the available space, if not for the late arrival of our flight, would have neglected this and look for a better place for the night. it was a worst welcome experience on our first day arrival to Newcastle.

Pffffft where to start. What a commotion. Turn up £20 deposit cash only. No cash machine near have to get back in car after a torrid drive across in the rain. Wrong codes for door wrong keys, ended up leaving all clothes and bags in car and having to leave room door unlocked so we could actually get in as the key didn’t work which wasn’t very pleasing. Won’t be going back room dirty, sheets had blood on was hoping for breakfast in the morning me and my friends were looking forward to a steak bake but no steak bakes Shame :( premier selling prime for £10 ruined the trip even more.

Old man Scott man 2 day smoking room no good

It served the purpose of having a roof over my head for the night, and I was grateful that the owner was responsive to my messages and phone calls. It was also quiet enough to sleep through the night.
There wasn't a sense that it was a place that was looked after, and would look after you. There were some things missing: like soap in the bathroom, and the room had a kettle and tea but no mugs to make it in. The heater in our room wasn't working.

nothing. they did not allow me to check in as I had got lost in Newcastle town. I arrived around 9PM, they had sent me the pin to get inside through text earlier in the evening but when I got there, the pin did not work and nobody would answer the phone I got stranded in Newcastle for night. Very disappointing.
the staff, the way they have not even responded to any of my complaints or letters I sent them.

Incredibly basic but amazing value for money. I stayed for 1 night to participate in the Great North Run
A receptionist in the building & a separate room to make tea in or to have something to eat

The price and the shower.
There was no reception (I didn't know it in advance). I waited outside in the rain and cold for half an hour before an other traveler let me in, then I waited for 1.5 hours sitting on the stairs. I hadn't got the codes and information because I booked last minute. I shouldn't have done it. The house was very neglected and the room stunk like smoke, the window was nearly broken so it was cold and I just felt very unsafe and uncomfortable.

Location.. easy access to the town and to the GNR start.. Good group staying in the dormitory. Even though strangers .. respectful of each other .. would stay again .. showers good , clean
Just found the bed slightly uncomfortable ( stiff back when I got up .. however slept reasonably well

Crowded with one chair in room of 9 people. Drink facilities in bedroom, not seperate.

When I had an issue with the shared room, I was able to be moved to another room after speaking with a staff member on the phone which made a big difference
There was never any staff there and no one was ever at reception. any issues or questions I had required me to call their phone number but sometimes I would have to call twice for an answer.

The place itself was what you'd expect for the money you pay. Literally somewhere to sleep. Checked in and got keys with no issues.
Hotel told me on the day of checkout that I'd get my deposit back by midday that day. That was 19th June and I'm writing this on July 4th. I haven't heard from them since and still don't have my deposit. No answer to calls or texts.

This hostel didn't meet basic hygiene standards!
There were trip harzards (buckets) near public toilet at top of stairs, stale old chips and forks stuck in radiadors near beds!? And no receptionists/onsite staff, it's self check in and self checkout with codes, which is pretty unsafe, especially if you were a woman. Plus they gave me the wrong code and when I rang up their head office there was an attitude as if I was an annoyance rather than a customer.
The room was dusty and the sofa was dirty looking. No soap in the bathrooms either, so no way to wash hands properly and no towels so had to stand and wet dry after the shower.
I know the saying goes 'cheap and cheerful', but I've stayed in much cleaner hostels in England at similar prices. I've also stayed in hostels in deprived parts of South America and Asia which had better hygiene standards, better customer service and basic facilities such as towels and soap!
