Clean and comfortable, good breakfast, convenient location

I was so keen to leave so I left early for work. It made me appreciate my own accommodation at home a lot more.

Look at these photos they clearly show: The walls has damp on them, the room smelt of mould. The whole taps rotated when you tried to use them and looked like they were about to burst. The window couldn't be opened. The furniture had to be rearranged to find a power socket. The mirrors had police warning stickers on them warning of possible child abuse: It felt like the type of place that the government would house ex convicts in after they are released from prison. The man was nice who worked there, but the woman who served up the food kept speaking angrily in foreign languages. The egg with the breakfast was surprisingly rubbery and I was a bit suspicious about what cooking oils they had used.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well-maintained. They also offered free parking, which was a nice perk. Definitely value for money. The English breakfast was good - exactly what I expected.

Some noise from the street traffic. Next time I ask for a room facing the backyard or use earplugs.

Quite dated The full English breakfast was very sparse with just 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg, backed beans and a hash brown. My friend told the staff that he didn’t like beans or the has brown and was therefore served an egg and 1 rasher of bacon

The accommodation fully met the expectation set by the description and photographs of simple accommodation, providing great value. What wasn’t expected was the warmth of the welcome, the kindness of the family running the guest house and the keenness to make our stay a pleasant one. Breakfast was spot on in size for us, with an English breakfast both mornings - despite us expecting continental breakfast to be served on at least one of those - and on both days we were invited to ask for more if we wanted it. The family even came to see us off - we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and valued in our stay.

The corner shower doors might be difficult for anyone of a larger size, as they didn’t open terribly wide for access. I also personally found the mattress a bit on the soft side for me.

Great value for the price

Very close to the venue we were attending. Free parking at rear of hotel.

Dirty cups in room, looked like they had only been swilled under the tap. Mattresses too soft and lumpy, felt like sleeping on a hill? No hot water from the hot water tap.
