First night was excellent and we enjoyed the drinks in the hotel bar which is lovely.

On the second evening there was a private event which meant the bar was closed to hotel guests which we didn’t know when we made the booking. The event was noisy as we were on the floor below and it went on till 1am. When we told reception on checking out they removed the service charge as a goodwill gesture.

Megan the "duty manager" dealt with my dissatisfaction appropriately although some of the points she made I felt were totally invalid.She did follow up and did attempt customer satisfaction;Given the issues were not of her making she responded as best she could and even if she had given a full refund, which she did not, I would have still been upset with regard to the preceding events

The swanky bar where I envisaged spending the night drinking cocktails could have been open as opposed to closed off for a private party.The in room info does invite you to enjoy this facility - we were not allowed to and had to walk to the Lowry Hotel to avail ourselves of their facilities instead.Apparently as we booked the day before they did not have time to tell us and we were the only ones not informed(although a fellow guest at checkout said he had the same complaint)and apparently it's appropriate for hotels to close of the swanky facilities you've booked there for with notice or recompense. Room was nothing like the glamorous visions shown on website - no slipper bath for us just a disabled walk in shower. Informed of 25 wedding anniversary and the minute and clostrophobic reception area allowed us to greeted by a mid twenties youth ,who could not have been more ambivalent. Finally, upon leaving the lift would not arrive;as I stood waiting I noticed the adjacent lift was ajar and presumed it had arrived but the door had not fully opened so I stepped in although it was partially open and fell as it was broken and the floor of the lift had stopped short of the exit door. and had not been sealed of or sign posted.The drop was not great 8 - 16 inches or so and I only tweaked my ankle but the response informing the staff was jaw dropping. "It's not been very long .... only 45 minutes" So seriously 45 minutes and not taped off, no cones,no warning sign in front or no 5 star penguin suited employee to stand there preventing such accidents. I'm sure a Premier Inn standard hotel would've had it taped of in under 5 and might have even offered us a drink on arrival but I guess fancy suits, 5 star attitude will keep the wealthy clientele coming back

Beautiful decor, amazing staff and service, great shower and spacious room.

Staff were superb

The inner sanctum room was fantastic specifically the Curtis. Loved the decor and layout. The staff are always amazing and friendly and the bed is super comfy.

A couple of the towels had holes in it. The tv remote also didn’t work from time to time.

Light in the room is all it nothing. A dimmer would be nice. Staff is not responsive when it comes to special wishes. Nice bar but we never found staff there. Brought our own drinks. No lobby. Restaurant has no atmosphere. Unlike the rest of the hotel.
