Walls were a bit too thin but after 10pm everyone was quiet so it wasn't a big deal.

Peter is absolutely lovely, very helpful and accommodated checking in late and even let me know I had accidentally left some of my property behind and kept it for me for a few days until I could collect it! Very clean bedrooms, common area and kitchen, all the facilities needed are available

Peter runs a clean, efficient hostel and is very accommodating. Just across from train station and Cairns Central mall with both a Coles and Woolworths grocery stores and many shops and food court. Only a few blocks to central downtown.

Very clean. Peter helps with everything. It’s a comfortable place. Best place you can stay in cairns. I loved the swimming pool, it was very clean.

Noisy neighbours, some of the people who stayed there are noisy at night even around 10pm onwards, we can’t normally sleep at night because they always slamming the door. we are a bit scared of what happened in our last night stay because something happen downstairs like very loud bursting the guys are shouting. we just stayed in our room like wondering what happened down there.

Peter was very accomodating when I needed to make a last minute booking change and the app wouldn’t let me make a change and he also voluntarily gave us an double bed upgrade. Also this place is the famous old ‘Geckos Hostel’ which I didn’t realise when I booked. Iconic! I can’t believe they changed the name. Clean tidy rooms, mini fridge, good (and free) aircon, plus nice shared kitchen. Very happy with this as a budget stay to explore Cairns and surrounds. Nice little pool to cool down in at the end of the day too.

Very nice property, well maintained and clean. We came back for a second night after our trip to the reef and Daintree rainforest as it was good value for money.

The check in process is quite inconvenient. You have to have an Australian SIM card or pay roaming fees to call the manager and let you in when arriving outside the check in times. The two times we checked in there were new guests in front of closed doors struggling to get in. I suggest to at least provide a WhatsApp number and share the WiFi with arriving guests upfront to make the check in easier and avoid high roaming fees.

The property is exceptionally clean and diligently maintained by Peter. He is very kind and accommodating and upgraded my room. He even use waterproof pillow and bed sheet. The environment is natural and it is like living in a rain forest. It is close to Central station where you can go shopping at Coles and Kmart. The kitchen is also clean and has essentials for cooking. The shared bathroom is easy close to the bedroom and not busy.

Even though I have arrived in the very early morning I was welcomed very friendly. I had the chance to change clothes, use facilities and drop off my luggage. I got perfect information on everything I have asked for. Because of low season I have gotten a better room than I have booked. The guesthouse is kept up perfectly and with a lot of love. Many things are renovated like kitchen, bathrooms and at least my room. Because it’s so quiet I even think the walls are sound proved. It's extremely clean. There is a laundry, swimming pool, vending machine. Just everything you need. It’s a very quiet place. Perfectly located opposite the train station and a shopping mall with supermarket. But really the best thing is the beautiful historical guesthouse with it’s warm-hearted atmosphere. I can recommend it 100%.

There is nothing to complain about.

Great location. Totally affordable price and exceeded my expectations for budget accommodation. Newly renovated so everything felt fresh and clean. Didn’t use the pool as we weren’t there long enough. Kitchen facilities were good. Aircon in each room is great.

Not really a problem but the room windows open into a closed veranda so if you’re a light sleeper just take some ear plugs and you’ll be fine.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning and then out by 6.30am which did not leave us much time to make any assessment.

Nothing I can think of

It's the cleanest accomodation I have ever stayed at like this and that is the fifth time I have come back

It is clean, comfortable and not noisy and has a nice large television and comfortable couches and the pool is nice outside and there is also nice trees outside

There is no air conditioning in the main area and people smoke cigarettes outside near the main area sometimes not being courteous to the other guests that do not smoke cigarettes

The cleanliness of the establishment was outstanding, peter runs a great ship here.

Great hostel! It’s a shame I could only stay for 1 night. Very clean and cosy. Newly renovated with lots of thoughtful touches throughout. Lush pool area. Friendly owner. He kindly upgraded my single room to a double. Close to city centre. Would definitely stay there again.

For a hostel type place it was extremely clean and welcoming. Owner was very polite and always said hello every day.

Some backpackers needed to prepare before they sleep with other people. I had 2 people wake me up during the night because I was snoring . Very rude people and next time they should prepare ear plugs with them if they're sharing .

Superbe auberge en plein coeur de Cairns. Tres belle piscine. Un beau batiment avec de belles chambres et des communs nouvellement renoves ( cuisine non encore finie ). Emplacement ideal : pres de la gare ( train, bus) et du centre ville tout en etant au calme. Je reviendrai !

Clean, pretty old house in a great location.

The blankets provided were very comfy and provided great warmth in this winter season. The hotel is just a 2 minute walk away to the shopping mall. Convenient location for those seeking a convinient place to stay.

This was a repeat visit. The place has been completely refurbished and newly equipped. Kept spick and span by Peter. Absolutely central: 5 min to big supermarket, 12 minutes to Esplanade Lagoon for a swim.
