The cooked breakfast was good quality food in just the right amount. The location was easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the bay front, we were able to enjoy the village without the car.
The weather, but we don’t hold that against Akaroa! Would have liked a longer stay, so will be back.

Jacqui was so welcoming and we enjoyed our stay here. We were able to have a good rest after our long drive, and the breakfast was superb! We highly recommend this place if you visit Akaroa.

Our hosts were warm and friendly and very lay back perhaps too lay back. They live across the road so were not there when we arrived or when others arrived on the second afternoon.
The room we were given on the first night was very small and really quite unsatisfactory. The room for our second night was what we had expected but we had to ask for the change

A beautiful Historic Well maintained and modernised French Colonial House. Warm welcome by our host Tim and a cosy fire going in the shared lounge to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine/Beer. Perfect location within walking distance to restaurants and points of interest. Breakfast was very sumptuous and beautifully laid out.
The bed was hard and needed either replacing or a deep topper on it.
Pillows also need replacing

How cool is this place, you book a room but get to use an amazing warm and beautifully decorated living room and have breakfast in a gorgeous dinning room. Everything was period and Jaquie has an eye for simple design that compliments the house style. Book and you will not be disappointed. Not many places in NZ equal the style and service on offer. Walking distance to everything, parking easy and safe, breakfast perfect.

Really enjoyed being seated around table with other guests, service and interaction with host very friendly, range of food on offer very good and well presented
Could not fault anything really - only possible suggestion would be some history of French Bay House and its people though have to say this was well related by our host and we probably learned more that way than having a brochure to read.

Jacqui and Tim were exceptional hosts, the full breakfast absolutely delicious and the accommodations charming and fully functional. French Bay House is a little piece of art, beautifully restored. We stayed for two nights so met a few different people each morning and exchanged travel and life stories. we would return in a heartbeat.

The attention to detail with tasteful decor and an English country house feel. Wonderful friendly hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. So relaxing and we felt thoroughly spoiled. The honesty bar in the dining room is a special touch!

Everything about the French Bay House was exceptional: the wonderful hosts, Jacqui and Tim, who made sure our room and stay were comfortable; the location; and the excellent breakfast each morning. We would happily stay there again!
I can’t think of anything I would improve. The French Bay House is one of the best, and perhaps the best, B&B at which we have stayed. We would definitely stay there again.

The house was beautiful and everything was very well thought about. Jacqui, Tim, George and Margot were extremely lovely to deal with and welcoming to the French Bay house! Breakfast was a perfect touch to the experience!

It was just beautiful, Jacqui was lovely and so accomodating and open. Really lovely place to spend our anniversary, got some amazing recommendations for dinner too! They really go above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable. Even left the heater on in our room for us as we were arriving later.

What a fantastic place to stay in Akaroa. I loved every detail about the place and the host Jacqui was extremely accomodating allowing me to check in earlier, as well as leaving my bags in the room while I was venturing around Akaroa. I would highly recommend staying in French Bay House and look forward to another trip.A

Centrally located with loads of character. Relaxed owners, great honesty bar and lovely gardens. Great breakfast enjoyed with other guests.
As the property is old, the room and bathroom were smaller than we would usually expect for the price however they were both beautifully furnished and very clean which is far more important.
