We had a quiet room, the beds were nice, the shower hot and the view from the breakfast area was fantastic. Too bad we couldn't stay an extra night but the hosts made sure we could check in in another hotel right across the street that was also very nice. The location is fantastic, a stone throw away from the main plaza.

The hotel provided a heater when requested. Also tea in the reception for free was a nice touch. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the shower was hot.

The drain in the shower did block easily, so we had to clean it out a bit. The hotel is old fashioned but this seemed typical for Puno. Overall I would recommend for the night and price jf you are passing through for the lake.

Oscar was very helpful, even making sure we had breakfast before our very early flight and driving us to our collectivo for that flight. The room was warm, with hot water and some nice benches for your bag and stuff. Comfortable beds and amazing views at breakfast.

Hostal Oscar is in a good location. Staff let me sleep in an empty room when I arrived early after the night bus. My room was big, clean and the bed was comfortable.

Some staff members were not overly friendly. Breakfast was average; typical stale bread with jam and eggs.

Nice room, neat and clean with hot shower as well garderobe with hanger in the room. The owner Oscar is very friendly and speaks English. And the breakfast serve at the rooftop where you have the amazing views of Puno and the lake. The hotel location is just 5 minutes walk to Plaza de Armas. The free wifi works excellent without disruption and they also offer tours to Lake Titicaca. Tea is 24 hours available on the hotel lobby. So for the price it is worthy! No doubts.

The staircase to the rooms - I got my room on the third floor so going up with my luggage was exhausting lol. The hotel is located on a hilly part in Puno, and everytime is like climbing a mountain as you’re out of breath. Breakfast is basic just enough to fill an empty stomach.

We arrived and we understood that we cannot be accommodated, because there are no free rooms. The reservation was made 2 months ago and the staff knew about the double booking two weeks before we arrive, but no one informed us. They tried to put us in 2 rooms with additional beds (we booked 5 rooms) and there were even no beds for all of us. For luck our tour guide was in the lobby and he came to arrange the tours for the next days, then he said that he has a friend with a hostel the same like this one and he will call to ask for free rooms, then we moved there. The staff of hostal Oscar did nothing for us, instead to say sorry.

When i asked for a room with a view, i received exceptional vistas: a little sunrise over Lake Titicaca and then all day afternoon sun over the city bowl. Room 400 was very very good to me. And the value was incredible. Friendly staff and the super Manager, Efrain Tisnado, made this one of my favorite stays ever.

It seems brilliant Efrain has opened his own place now called Hostal Fortaleza. For me, Oscar was incredible but ab lot of that happened to Efrain and his incredible hospitality. I think you'd be very lucky to stay at either place. Perfect Puno digs!

it was very cold, there is no heating as well as no hot shower

Very close to the city center. Efrain, the guy who attended us was very friendly and gave us lots of info plus he organized for us the transportation to Amantaní Island and the pick up to the airport. Breakfast is the classic one, Peruvian style (bread, strawberry jam, some butter, scramble eggs, juice and tea).

The shower was cold. After we pointed out the problem they turned on the boiler. They have solar panel but if you are lucky as we were, we arrived in a very rainy day so the hot water was not there.

The staff member that welcomed us was very friendly and very very helpful. We booked a tour with him the moment we arrived and he took our drinks and put them in a fridge for us.

Breakfast was very very basic and lacked attention to detail.
