Stayed for one night and price quality ratio is great! Very welcoming and nice hostess, what else needed in a hostel?

The staff is great and the view, thats all.

The price is way too high for what you get, a lot should be fixed up in this place.

Hostel personnel was very kind and helpful. Hostel is very cozy. It has perfect location near the ski centre and hiking paths. You can also find few restaurants in the area.

only a small thing, but toilet paper not nice to use. not the hostel itself, but the area, no local shops to purchase supplies you may have forgotten, or any kind of on the go snacks/refreshments, only restaurants to dine in.

Hostel Shymbulak is a wonderful place to stay for skiing and walking in the nearby mountains. It has a great view of the valley and overlooks Almaty City and beyond to what must be more then 100km. The staff are just brilliant too, so helpful and approachable. Rooms are very clean and my bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was hearty and on time every day without fail despite the many athletes and other guests staring there. And a great atmosphere with the residents and staff - very good all round :-)

Great place, friendly staff, perfect location. A great option when skiing in Shymbulak. They even help organize the return of my ski poles I left behind when I checked out. Would definitely recommend.

The hostel administrator, Diana, was very helpful. I arrived late (flight delay) and she kindly let me in and welcomed me with some much needed hot tea and a light meal. The daily breakfast was wonderful to start the day's skiing and the tea, biscuits and condiments were plentiful. The hostel is very very clean, with great showers, comfortable beds and very well heated. Diana was very helpful with taxis and baggage storage too - a real gem of a host.

Location is just perfect and a great helpful staff. Plain breakfast is offered for free. You can also use the kitchen and appliances to cook your own meal (no supermarket around, bring stuff from city). The hostel is the most inexpensive option in the area.

Everything actually. The lady on reception was exceptionally helpful with all our requests. The location of the hostel makes it great for those willing to enjoy skiing at Shimbulak.

Shower facility needs minor repairs, as the bottom had a partially repaired crack and you have to make sure you don't step on it in order to avoid water leaking through the crack. Wifi was not functioning, however we never bothered to ask the lady in charge of the facility to fix that, so maybe it would be an easy fix.
