We stayed three nights at Rihga Royal starting on October 3rd 2024. When we first arrived we were very stressed. I had made the mistake of leaving my backpack on the train on the way to the hotel. The backpack was a brand name (making it a target) and had my passport and all my credit cards and bank card in it as well as jewelry and other valuables I did not want to pack in my luggage. Mr. Nishikawa the very kind and helpful man checking us into our room tried to call the train stations lost and found for me. Unfortunately it was very late and they had closed. At this time it was after midnight in Japan and we had been traveling about 24 hours. Mr. Nishikawa offered to help me again the following morning due to the language barrier. This was a huge relief. My husband and I did not really sleep that night, as you can imagine, but the huge bathroom and very large bath tub were nice to relax in after the long day of traveling. At 8 am I ended up back in the lobby where Mr. Nishikawa was waiting to help me call the train stations. There are several and they started opening from 8 am until noon. Mr. Nishikawa had no luck at the first ones and kept calling until the last stop at Narita Airport. When he told me they found my back pack an hour and half from where we were I could not believe it! Mr. Nishikawa saved our vacation by truly going above and beyond. I don't think I could have found it on my own. The junior suit is extremely spacious and beautiful with tons of amenities.

Lovely hotel for our last night in Japan. Kind, helpful staff. The kitchen fit us in for one final - excellent - teppanyaki dinner. Easy parking below. We’d already explored Tokyo so location was not essential but it was fine. Would absolutely stay again.

It was amazing! I love the room and service of this hotel!!

Stayed here hoping to spend an afternoon leisurely walk in the garden only to be told that the garden wasn't the hotel property but the neighboring school's. Needless to say, no strolling in the garden as it was inaccessible. The lobby was very nice and welcoming, with a sense of high class ambience. The check-in process was also smooth. However, the room was far from the high class ambience we felt in the lobby. Sure, the room was spacious, but everything inside was like from the 60s or the 70s. It didn't feel like classic, it just felt simply old and outdated. The TV was also old and small that you can't watch while on bed as you'd be like staring on your smart phone. I think you'd get a better viewing experience in any cheap business hotel. The amenities were also a let down considering the high star rating of this hotel. There's not much of a personal touch. There's also no hotel guide in the room so we didn't know what facilities are available. The buffet breakfast wasn't memorable. Only a handful of choices. I think one night stay here is more than enough, just for the experience.

It was quiet and very cozy to stay there. Transportation was not bad. I took a bus and subway to get to places. When I was tired I took Uber.
Near the hotel there were so many restaurants I didn’t know they were there. I went for a walk and found many restaurants and they all looked like hidden gems. I loved staying there.

My wife’s families were graduated from school converted to this hotel.
Few minutes walking distance to the place where my wife was born and grown up.

This was a terrible stay from check in to check out. This is not a 4 star hotel and you have to stop marketing it as a 4 star. It is old and cleanliness is questionable. The check in process was terrible as well as the room was not ready on arrival and he didn’t have our keys. And refused to give us new ones as he said he already gave them tonus even though he did not. Terrible.

Beautiful but overpriced. The pool should be free. Everything else was high quality.

The hotel was elegant and clean. It was a comfortable stay.

Very friendly staff

We did like a shuttle service!

The service and feel of this hotel are nothing short of exceptional. Bordering on a very large garden, the proximity to Waseda University also means that there are a lot of cost conscious food options nearby, when traveling with children.
Every little thing at this hotel is thought of and executed before you even realize that you wanted it. The luggage is transported to your room on check in and from it on check out as a matter of practice. There is complimentary transportation every 30 minutes to the train and subway station. The breakfast service is amazing (and surprisingly inexpensive as a hotel guest room adf-on).

This was our final stop on our Japan trip. After staying at some poor accommodations this was a relief. We felt immediately welcomed and taken care of. Our room was available early so we were taken to our room. Some of the comments about older interiors and older style are true however, it felt like staying at the Plaza Hotel in the 90s very retro glamour. I enjoyed the decor and the amenities. They have several restaurants in the hotel, a gift shop, and a view of a beautiful garden. Our beds were made up every night. We even had breakfast in our rooms delivered. They have a shuttle service. Only little things need to be fixed like finishes on wood areas were worn which can be remedied with paint the electronics are older but we honestly enjoyed every part of our stay. We will be staying here again next time we come to Japan.

This was a very nice hotel. The staff were amazing. Very friendly, very polite. I would rate this hotel a 10 on almost everything except I found that the rooms could be cleaned a bit better. The walls and ceiling were dirty the doors were dirty...needs to be wiped down properly especially since this is such a high-end hotel, and the vents and fans are full of dust like they haven't been cleaned for years. I was quite surprised. Also our first night there was a stain on the bed sheets and there was no cleanimg staff to change it so put a make-shift sheet of my own on top of it, but the rooms were very spacious and well laid out. Liked the staff a lot. They were very helpful and professional.
The hotel is a bit out of the way, but they have a hotel shuttle to take you to the station which was great.

My stay at the Rihga was phenomenal! Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, very little noise, and conveniently located next to a bus stop.
Even though the nearest train station is a 10 minute walk away, I'd still highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of Shibuya/Shinjuku.
4.4
Excellent hotel for the price-point. Very nice rooms, elegant lobby, decent restaurants (if a bit expensive). A nice quiet area, nice for walking, and easy access to the hot-spots of Tokyo by metro or cab. Only complaint, with one or two exceptions, the staff at front desk speaks poor English and were not very helpful, even if they were polite.

Loved the old style hotel, but very clean and comfortable. It was very elegant and all of the employees went above and beyond for us every day.

Shuttëe bus every 30min to and from main station. Big rooms

Wonderful place.

The property is clean and grand, elegantly decorated and furnished. I enjoyed the stay. Only that it's a bit inconvenient to access the Shinjuku JR station. a journey of 25 minute by taxi. The property should provide more frequent shuttle bus to customers who are not driving.
4.4
The property is amazing. The rooms are very large and beautifully decorated. The location is quiet. The lunch buffet was amazing. I also really enjoyed the bar at the hotel
The staff there was amazing.
The issue I had was the fact that the lady who checked us in did not speak English. We had to rely on Google translate to communicate. For a four or five star hotel in Tokyo where you pay almost $400 a night there is absolutely no excuse for not having an English speaking receptionist at your check in counter. Not only did she not speak English but she was actually getting upset, frustrated or both when people tried to speak to her in English. This is simply unacceptable.

They said they have a free shuttle to the airport it’s not free they charged us it was fine but just a heads up that’s why we originally booked there to avoid the public transportation system with our bags. We were offered a free upgrade on floor 25 it was nice also allowed a later check out of 11am vs 10

Breakfast is a bit expensive
4.4
It was very cut off from the main Shinjuku area
4.4
Regal feel to hotel but in need of renovation. Right next to University. Restaurants a bit overpriced for quality. Overall great place to stay.
4.4
A little bit frayed along the edges, but the staff, location, lobby decor and access to a beautiful park/garden makes up for it. Being next to Waseda Uni also meant good and assorted food.

WE HAD AN EXCELLENT STAY AT RIGHA ROYAL IN TOKYO.
PROS: NICE SIZE ROOM, BEAUTIFUL LOBBY, BEAUTIFUL SMALL AND QUAINT PARK ON THE BACKSIDE, HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS STAFF, SUMPTUOUS BREAKFAST BUFFET (PAY ADDITIONAL), VERY CLEAN, VERY SAFE AND FAMILY FRIENDLY. NOT TOO MANY DINING OPTIONS AROUND THE HOTEL, USE METRO TO TRAVEL TO SHINJUKU OR SHIBUA.
CONS: AWAY FROM TRANSPORTATION. CLOSET STATION IS WASEDA = 1/2 MILE WALK. USE OF TAXI'S CAN GET EXPENSIVE. IF LOOKING FOR NIGHT LIFE AND ACTION, MAKE A DIFFERENT CHOICE. DINNING RESTAURANTS IN THE HOTEL FOR LUNCH AND DINNER ARE QUITE EXPENSIVE.
4.4
Beautiful hotel with great staff and good food. The English on the property needs improvement in my opinion since people are having a hard time understanding and orienting English speaking tourists.
4.4
we booked RRH at recommendation of relative despite it being away from the tourist areas. good call. visiting the shopping areas and shrines was an experience but exhausting navigating the sidewalk and store crowds. returning to the RRH was like returning to home, peaceful and quiet. we took GO cabs everywhere so can't speak to whether public transportation was good.
we booked with breakfast included which we enjoyed each morning. a nice selection of japanese and western fare. never crowded. we also ate at the japanese restaurant which featured a variety of prix fix offerings. very nice. there was also a chinese restaurant and the garden cafe. all restaurants except breakfast require reservations in advance.
for those who want to swim or hit the fitness room, the upcharge is $30 pp each visit. we chose to skip it but the facilities looked nice when we took a look.
in summary, a classic european style hotel, well maintained, not crowded, polite japanese service, accessible to all parts of Tokyo via taxi. we enjoyed our visit very much.
4.4
What i didn’t like was the limitation of vegetarian food. Most foods that did not have meat were cooked in meat broth. Also the rooms we had where my children were set up all the power outlets worked only when the lights were on making it hard to sleep while charging our phones.
4.4
Forgot to add the breakfast option, feel Yen3600 should for 2 persons, end up for one person only
