Customer service ie front desk in competent ac don’t work water dripping from the roof
Breakfast which was asked huge letdown from kitchen staff
Given a room at a smoking rooms side as I open the door smoke smell
Toilet water didn’t work take the head for over a day
Room 402 didn’t have a fridge iron given had loose wire exposed which is dangerous
Even though it is a 5 star hotels feels like 1 star hotel

The property is very old and dirty. Very unlike the pictures suggest.
Checked out two days early. Hotel promised refund through expedia.

We stayed in India for one month and stayed in 7 different cities in 5 star hotels and one of them was Kolkata. AVOID booking in hotel Hindustan it was the WORST experience. This should be a 3 star hotel. Room service was terrible, called 6 times to get a towel 2 hours later. They never came to pick up used cutlery for over 1 day so we left them outside our door and it was outside for 48hours no one came and picked it up. The garbage can was full and no one came to pick it up during our whole stay. We stayed 4 nights from Wed-Sun and there was clubbing in the hotel going on every night till 3am even though we were on the highest floor we could hear the noise. Also something was biting us at night (see pic for reference)

Rooms were good but not upgraded.Food was really good but expensive. Complimentary breakfast spread was good. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Overall a pleasant stay.

Dirty rooms, linen were unwashed probably or unchanged. Bathroom taps were faulty. Sofa chair was dusty. Cleanliness was a joke

It’s a wonderful property but it was sad to see poor maintenance. Probably reason being almost two years of lockdown but still there are few things that could have been done like polishing of wood and stone bases and replacing door knobs

This hotel is great for business travelers and tourists alike. It is in the heart of Kolkata close to many of the important tourist sites. The staff are professional and very welcoming. The restaurant and room service are both the highest quality.

Only Geographically its suitable. But Right from FOOD SERVED IN BUFFET B'FAST Is very poor standard. Managing is worst. Overall food and Resturant & Staff of Resturant and House Keeping needs a huge improvement.

I stayed here for a few hours before boarding my flight and have mixed opinions. The room was just okay and not clean all the way and the mini-bar was empty. The rooms need to be renovated among other things to offer a truly 4.5 star experience. Staff was attentive and helpful.

It is a good hotel and the stay was comfortable. They have friendly staff and very helpful. However the Wi-Fi was very bad and I had difficulty working. The area around the hotel is very busy and unclean. But it was close to my place of business and hence was very suitable.

Poor by international standards, rooms are very old, both in style and standards of fittings. A/C thermostat did not work, it's either ON and noisy or OFF, and rapidly warms up.
Staff were all great and very willing to help. Good buffet, even better restaurant.

Pathetic hotel, rooms on 6th floor looked like last renovated in the 80s.
Only saving grace was the duty Manager - Mr Dennis who quietly upgraded me to suite when I complained to him.
That looked like newly done up, but had leaking water on the bathroom mirror, in some ducts etc.

Excellent service, both check in and check out was smooth and prompt. Breakfast buffet was included in my room rate but I would've happily paid for the delicious spread. Housekeeping was extremely helpful with extra towels and coffee/tea. I shall be returning for a 3-days stay beginning December 29th, 2016 ^_^

Over rated over hyped pathetic Hotel. When I reached the hotel the reception staff did not have any clue of my booking. Despite of showing them the reservation paper from Expedia..they took half an hour to figure out about the reservation and finally gave me a room (showing that they are doing a favor as they have no information and they will check with Expedia post this). Room was very average..not at worth the price paid for. I was just settling down in the room I heard someone trying to open the room door...when I asked who it was it was housekeeping. I never asked for anything so asked why he was here and trying to open the door to which the person replied just wanted to check whether there is an ash tray in the room or not. I was just astonished to this behaviour...I was travelling alone and spending 2 nights at this hotel was a nightmare.NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED

booked a queen room, but got a simple double bed one.very stuffy rooms with archaic services.bathroom was scary wid minimum amenities.food quality was way below standard.a good hotel fot the 70s business crowd, not matched up with the young traveller used to bwtter sta dards

The hotel staff was extremely slow and not even courteous. the room was dirty and the bed linen was dirty as if it had been slept in. there was hair on the bed linen, the door handle was dirty.

The only big advantage of this property is its location which is in a prime location and close to park street,esplanade and shopping neighborliness.The hotel has always good offers on drinks, Wednesdays and Fridays..kindly check for the 'underground' nightclub and the 'virgose' bar.They are good places to check into, with cocktail and happy hours till 8pm.Room service is a bit sow with elderly staff but nonetheless polite staff.People at the reception are a bit indifferent towards many of your preferences,make sure to spend an unlikely hassle-free check-in.Rooms are recently renovated,floors still show cracks on wood,Food and drinks are expensive but quality is good.Rest everything is not bad at all.Its a good budget hotel and if you are able to negotiate well with the rates or free upgrades,which they do offer subject to availability, may be a great option too , considering the nice location.

Great place to stay if you are visiting kolkata and need to be in the south. Walking distance from interesting places like park street, Victoria and practically next door to the forum mall. Hotel has a good restaurant and a night club. Very nice breakfast spread. Very helpful staff. The room I had stayed in was on the 8th floor and had good protection against the noise from the flyover.
The place seems to have been recently renovated, but the bath taps in my room were in a poor shape. The pool however was a welcome break from the kolkata heat.
Overall great place to stay!
