i arrived in the early hours of the morning, and the check-in was not particularly welcoming. I realise she wanted to get to sleep, but no information or advice was given to me. Lots of building work going on, and a loud generator was close to my outer wall, so quite noisy. No other information regarding the area or any local maps provided. I did not feel particularly welcome. But was clean and tidy, and room was quite nice.

Nice quiet property close to the river, however quite difficult to find as it’s down an alleyway. The room was nice and had a mini fridge and soaps for the shower etc. Staff were very helpful with booking a taxi to the airport

This is a 2 star hotel.

Our family of four were given a free upgrade to a larger suite upon arrival. The room had all of the basics with additional toiletries. The air conditioners worked well and the room and beds were clean. Even though the entrance is hidden away the hotel is in a convenient area of the Old Quarter. I felt that this was a great value for the price.

Got room in the 7th floor. Lift available only till the 6th floor. Also the property has a narrow entrance through a shady area.

The property was not the property advertised on the Hotels.com website. When we arrived, we couldn’t find it! There was a construction site operating on Lo Su Avenue right in front of the hotel. What we enjoyed was the helpful and friendly staff, the large two rooms we occupied and the affordability. Fortunately, we spend three days at Ha Long Bay and the Malo was a safe and affordable place to keep our excess luggage. The people were great but the property needs A LOT!! Of attention to become a desired destination hotel.

I have been traveling for 25 days, I have been in many hotels, I was in 3 hotels in Hanoi and this one was the worst ever in all the hotel I went in my life! This place is UNHEALTHY! Its full of mold in the room and in the bathroom. I got to the hotel really lat after 11pm, so I couldn't change it, but I couldn't sleep all night because I couldn't breath from the mold.. its a Very old hotel.. trying to be clean.. but its not because the air isnt clean, the bathroom is very old and full of mold too. I slept only 2 hours all night with a shirt on my facr so I breath something other thatn mold. Couldn't wait untill the morning to leave!

This hotel was horrible. Room was dirty, service was non-existing. I would not stay here for free.

Rosa is helpful in arranging pick up from the airport and activities such as water puppet show and one day Halong Bay trip. Although the hotel looks a bit old and it is located in a small alley, the condition of the room is clean and brightly lighted.

Very hard to find behind a building sire, staff didn't speak any English Room was very dull, noisy all night and the television didn't work.

If i could give this property a 0, i would. My family booked our stay to attend my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday party. We booked a room for 5 people for 5 days with the intention of being a good place for our 3 year old niece having a place to sleep close to our Vietnamese family. The hotel was an absolute disaster. The hotel was hard to find as it was in an alley behind a construction area. The hotel looked like it had never been cleaned throughout the lobby, elevator and hallways. The carpetting was covered in paint chips. The room conditions were much worse. The room was infested with insects and spiders. The bedding had blood stains and holes large enough to fit a hand through them. The floors were never cleaned with dirt pushed in the corners. The room and bathroom was full of black mold. The floorboards and baseboards were coming loose and falling apart with multiplle exposed nails. It was supposed to be a non smoking room but it reaked of cigarette smoke. The frames of the art were falling apart. I raised my concerns to the hotel management when I checked in at 4pm and they refused to address my concerns saying they would look into it the next day. The hotel manager refused to address the issue but tried to get us to take a single room with a double bed for 5 people or accept him selling us to another hotel of his choice. Expedia resolved the matter on my behalf but the manager made sure to make it difficult for myself and the Expedia representative.

Terrible hotel. Locate in the very small alley where so small, dirty and no way escape in case of fire. Room is smelled, just renovated but not really clean and uncomfortable. The photo of the hotel and the actual I saw was totally different. Never comback this hotel again

The gueshouse is tucked behind a construction site and accessed by a side-alley with a laundromat. The lobby is small n dark. Its very much a budget guesthouse. The lift only goes up to the 6th floor so the 7th floor rooms are via a walkup . Hotel is 1 star or 2 star at best. However, staff are froendly and helpful.

1. This boutique hotel is terrible. Be careful not to come out of the hotel because they lock, and wont open till late next morning. They give out only ONE key for 4 persons into a two-bedrooms unit. The bed is not clean

Horrible place. I ended up here when I extended by stay in Hanoi and needed a room at short notice returning from A day trip. I was given room 201 above reception. The handle on window was broken so It couldn’t be closed properly. I could hear all the noise from the street, from reception and the adjacent building site. Bed was uncomfortable. Had to leave after one night. So many better places to stay in Hanoi.

FAKE PROPERTY. We were put into a different hotel around the corner from Malo. This other property was much cheaper, looked nothing like the photos, was on a floor the elevator didn't even reach, and the staff partied outside our room the entire night. The property is dirty and feels sketchy. DO NOT STAY HERE. If you are looking at this property, the other reviews are clearly faked. Cross-reference with Google reviews, you will find similar experiences to ours. Most people who complained were put as no-shows so they couldn't review on their booking site.

The pictures for this hotel on Expedia look like a 3 star family hotel, but in reality it was in a lot worse condition and it was a bit on the dirty side with ants crawling around on the floor. However, the staff was very friendly and the location was perfect, so I'd say if you are on the adventurous side then you can try it out and see if it's for you. At this price you get what you pay for, and although our first impressions weren't very good, in the end it wasn't so bad!
