The staff are overwhelming in their attention to detail, kindness, and customer focus. They have been trained to put the guest first - exceptional ! A wide range of menu items is available in the main restaurant and the bar to suit every palate. Everything is cooked to order, and well presented - the chefs do a terrific job, and they made the meals a highlight of our 5 night stay

Brilliant location. Not too happy. Checked in after 4. Corridors still had bags of laundry everywhere. Tray of dirty cups outside our room. Lots of rooms still being serviced so late in the afternoon. Which I find rather disruptive. Driveway up to hotel in such a bad state of repair.

The hotel was very modern and clean. The grounds were beautiful. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and not over priced by today's standards. We'd stay here again.

We had an excellent stay at the Oakhill, and can’t wait to stay again! Every member of staff couldn’t do enough for us and each and everyone made us feel so welcome. The food was outstanding We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

Staff were very friendly and helpful contacting me on route to check when i was going to arrive and offererd to jave food ready for me should i be late. Room was very comfortable and had everything that i required. Looked good to.

Beautiful room, very clean and comfortable. Four stars only as noise from people in the room above was a little disruptive. Also, if planned building work will impact guests, it should be disclosed at booking.

A lovely hotel with a great restaurant and very friendly, helpful staff, stayed for one night but could have stayed the week. The room was very comfortable with a huge shower. Dinner was superb and the Almond Apple strudel was to die for (all their deserts are home made) well stocked bar and a really varied choice on the evening menu.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay

This hotel is a hidden gem to find. On the outskirts of Matlock and has everything you want. Staff are fantastic as was our room. Cleanliness is at a high speck and serves wonderful food which is the same price as local pubs but at a higher presentation and exceptional. If your considering then book as we would highly recommend

Quiet and beautiful setting within easy walking distance of Cromford and it's canal. Great to have pitches with electric hook ups for motorhomes etc so we could meet up with friends who were camping. Have syaed here before, the rooms are newly renovated and clean, however this time the room is less spacious than our last room. Would definitely stay again

Loved the beautiful gardens and decor in the main buildings and the cottage where we stayed. Would have preferred an earlier check in time as 4pm is a little later than usual. Lovely footpath walk into Cromford from the hotel which avoided the main road. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented and for a small hotel the choice was reasonable. The entrance check in area was not what I expected but may be due to continuing renovations but could be improved. The bar area, dinning room and sitting lounge were very stylishly decorated and inviting. I have another night booked in August and am looking forward to returning

Lovely large room but spoiled a bit by being woken at 5.20am by the refuse collection service. The room had a bath but no proper shower which made washing hair a challenge. Bed was comfy but squeaky. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Dinner was delicious.

The hotel is lovely, beautiful setting, super friendly staff and both breakfast and dinner were great. We will be back! Only thing to improve are the pillows, they seemed a bit old and too hard. The hotel is walking distance to train station, very handy to see the area without the hassle to park car (like Matlock Bath or Matlock).

Stayed for three nights for a family get together. Oakhill was most welcoming with friendly staff and efficient service. Though we found the evening menu somewhat limited, the food was excellent and extremely well presented. The building had real character and the gardens were delightful. With it’s industrial heritage we all found Cromford an interesting area to explore.

We had an amazing couple of days. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and grounds are very beautiful and well looked after.

Fabulous venue in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. We were well looked after by the attentive staff. Great breakfast freshly cooked with local ingredients.

This is a very traditional hotel, we found it great service and an excellent base for local walking and visiting the area. It is very well positioned for Chatsworth house. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious.

We were delighted with our stay. It was so peaceful around the hotel. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were very helpful with their advice on the local area.

First of all, the good points. The staff were all wonderful; all really friendly and helpful. The food was also good. The main restaurant/bar area is a really nice place to dine or have a drink. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was not up to an acceptable standard – particularly when compared to what is being portrayed on the booking websites. We were led to our room, which took us on a corridor past the kitchen and staff toilets, which really felt like the staff accommodation or a nursing home. Even my 12 year old daughter commented that it felt like a hospital. The room itself was tired and no better than youth hostels I have stayed in. The bright light from the courtyard outside lit up the room through the thin curtains, making sleep difficult. My main point of contention is that was is being depicted on the booking websites – a luxurious boutique hotel, is not even close to the reality. I did contact the manager who stated that they are being transparent here and that some of the rooms are scheduled for renovation (in January). I felt that this was disingenuous, as the photographs should accurately the standard of the rooms and I should not have to parse every line of small print (and even then, I would argue that this is not clearly stated).

Austere room. Needed two comfortable chairs or a settee, towel rail and a shower curtain over the bath. Also a upholstered bed head and cushions. Hotel was quiet , good location being central and food was reasonably priced and good .
