Fantastic hotel to relax, great pool facilities, lovely restaurant/bar and staff incredibly helpful - organised a great river safari which I would recommend doing!

There's no doubt that Sea Rock villa is going to rate near the top in terms of accommodating overseas tourists. It is beautifully situated on the gorgeous beach and its own grounds are kept immaculate. Food in the restaurant is eclectic and good value. In essence this is ideal for sun-seekers who enjoy a bit of up-market pampering.

For anyone looking for 'real' Sri Lanka this is probably not the hotel for you. Hospitality is cordial but formal, the antithesis (from this reviewer's experience) of most ordinary guest houses and small hotels in Sri Lanka where the welcome you receive is almost overwhelming. Although the restaurant is more than adequate for a day or two, anyone staying for longer will probably begin to hanker after a different menu. Other decent restaurants within a reasonable distance are thin on the ground ( the Italian one next door appears to be permanently closed).

The staff were wonderfully friendly , caring, and could not have been more helpful. The library was a very useful feature.The bed decorations were charming.

We were confused by the sunbed booking arrangements - some apparently were booking in advance with no evidence of having done so. The menu should perhaps have included specials on a daily basis. We were certainly not aware of any.

Clean, small place right next to the ocean and not too far from Colombo

Being next to the ocean plumbing needs to be maintained regularly. Shower and hot water were an issue. Floor tile in the room can get slippery with moisture from ac and although clean can be hazardous for older people who could slip. Staff could be a bit more aware of whats going on. Today a traveller wants to know activities and absorb as much culture and food.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles. They never wavered. We were warmly greeted by Mrs Jaika and Miss Darshika and a fresh melon welcome drink. Our check-in was efficient and friendly. We were given the option to pay in advance or wait to the end of our stay. We happily paid in advance. Housekeeping swiftly took our luggage from our car to our room and gave a succinct orientation - how to operate the AC, TV, safe and where the fridge and tea making facilities were. The room was beautifully appointed and had a private balcony overlooking the well maintained pool, gardens and beach. Hot water was available 24/7 with a great shower. Even during the power cut everything ran smoothly as the quiet generator was put into action. Thank you Mr Kumudu, Mr Maneesha and Mr Umesh for taking care of us and maintaining everything impeccably. The food in the restaurant was first class. The menu was extensive although sadly we weren't able to sample everything on it in our 2 day stay. We did however thoroughly enjoy the club sandwich, lightly battered prawns with mango salsa and mango mayonnaise, Thai prawn red curry, spaghetti shrimps in a creamy cheese sauce, baked crab and to top it all a lobster Thermidor, one of if not the best we've ever had! No room for dessert which no doubt would have been of equally high quality. Our hats off to the Head chef - Mr Ajith, Demi chef - Mr Gunasekara and Commi II - Mr Chaminda. Can't wait to come back for more of the same plus to try more of your tasty meals. Mr Sunil, Harshaka and Janaka were so attentive throughout our stay. Our every need was met and expectations surpassed. They even asked if there was more they could do to look after us! We were totally spoilt by such kind staff. Sea Rock Villa may be rated as a 3 star property but we were definitely treated to a 5 star service. Congratulations to Mr Ravi and his outstanding team

Great location. Unreal restaurant on the very beach. Perfect pool. Guarded parking. Near the interesting turtle hatchery.

We came on the low season and the sea was stormy. But that's pure our problem, not the locations'.

This small property is directly on the beach with a very nice usually empty pool, it was my last day and it was perfect for unwinding it's next to a very nice italian restaurant and some hotels with SPA facilties. The staff are very nice and the restaurant in the place had a nice a la carte breakfast and resonable varities and prices for lunch and dinner as well.

The room was not as clean as i expected, i had to ask to change the bed sheets and pillows as there were some stains on them but this is usually common in srilanka unfortunately, but they responded to me and changed them. my door had an issue with not being able to lock it when i was outside.

Great beach location and a really nice menu with quality cooking. Didn't check out too much around the area but didn't feel we needed to. Stayed for two really relaxing nights with sunsets and a drink on the balcony

When we arrived, we had an exchange rate dispute, because the hotel tried to adjust the commercial bank USD sell rate (in order to convert to LKR) , which was better for them, but we were able to find a compromise. Despite this event, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Spacious rooms for 2 adults and child (3 beds); great stop prior our departure (1 1/2 hours drive to Colombo airport) just a few rooms, boutique- family style Good service around pool, nice beach in front of the hotel but not suitable for swimming Best kept secret- some 500m walk South there is great swimming area without waves protected by rocks

Swimming sea conditions- advice people to walk South to enjoy great conditions; unfortunately we only discovered this place the last day afternoon

Great location and superbly managed by the owners who have thought of everything. The beach itself was a disappointment (for swimming) which was partially due to high winds, however everything offered and provided by the hotel was great.

We didnt appreciate the overly inflated prices for taxis and tuk tuk (40% higher compared to prices from other hotels). They offered 15,500 Rupee to go to the airport whilst another hotel in the same village organised one for us for only 11,000. This is the only reason why we rate the hotel a 9, and not 10.
