For the price and location it’s a steal but don’t expect anything. The room was clean but the blanket had burn holes permanently in it that they had appeared to wash but not replace.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable for this part of Manhattan. The hotel is dated, but the room was clean and cleaned each day. The location is amazing and loved the bagels downstairs.

Walking in, we arrived at 2pm, room wasn’t ready for 30 minutes. Upon entering the room after walking up very poorly lit steep stairs, the sheets on the bed were dirty and there were no pillow cases. The outlets closest to the bed (too far for regular chargers) didn’t work, the towels were stained, and it overall felt unfit to sleep in so we ended up booking a different hotel.

Good cheap 2 star hotel. Clean bed with own shower room. Perfect for people on a budget. Right beside a bustling street in the East Village. Quiet room for the location. Will stay there again, unless my wife is coming and I have to fork out 3 times the price for a nicer place

I was in town to see some Broadway shows and the hotel served its purpose. It’s not fancy by any means but it doesn’t present itself that way either. As long as you read up on the hotel and read reviews you’ll know what to expect. No frills, small, and no elevator which was fine. You’re visiting NYC and it’s a great location and one of the few cheaper places with a private bathroom, which is a huge bonus! I’d stay again.

Excellent location and staff. Very very basic hotel and not fancy, but everything we needed. Clean and safe. The bed cover wasvery thing, stained, and had cigarette burns on it (despite being a smoke-free establishment) -- definitely ask for extra blankets as soon as you arrive! Staff were great and brought some to our room as soon as we asked. We were on top floor which was a workout to walk up to, but was also super quiet and secluded. Excellent budget hotel: sort of cheap quality but excellent location and service. Would have been perfect for a third of the price but this is New York: every place is pricey. At least here we had our own room and bathroom, tv, window, and could walk everywhere.

I guess you get what you pay for, but Property was extremely tired Ended up going to shop down the street and purchased an underlay pillows and sheets so we could get into the bed as ones on the bed looked grubby Kept awake most of night by street noise and loud music.

For the price and location, this place is a steal! We had a great time. Staff was friendly, our space was clean, the bed was comfortable, we were allowed to check in super late and leave our bags for storage after we checked out, which is all we needed! Also located to so many great restaurants and train stops. Great place to stay as a couple looking to save $$ but still stay in Manhattan and explore the city. Don’t expect the most amazing room ever but if you’re a no frills traveler this place is for you— very glad we stayed here and would stay here again!

Least expensive option we could find in NY. Very close to the subway station, we could easily go everywhere. There's a 24/7 Ray's Pizza right on the corner. Room and bathroom were small but clean. Front desk agents were always nice, morning and evening. Would stay again.

Stayed here for 5 nights in April. Thought it was an excellent deal! Besides a bed and a basic bathroom (shower only), the amenities were basically non-existent, but it’s half the price (or less) than all of the other hotels in the area, so it is to be expected. Everything about the hotel is on the older side (including the bedding, carpets, showers), but i did not think it was a problem. Cleanliness was passable - rooms were made every day. Noticed some staining on the box spring and mattress. The staff were amazing and helpful - We had an issue with the toilet flushing and we were switched to another room without any troubles! Rooms are very small, but you won’t be spending much time in them considering how PERFECT the location is. It really can’t be beat. st. Marks is within a 3 minute walk of green and yellow lines, and about 7 minute walk to orange and grey. Couldn’t ask for a better neighbourhood - east village is vibrant and we felt safe the entire time. Also, We couldn’t hear any noise from the street or restaurant below from our room on the 3rd floor. I would recommend this hotel to any ‘budget traveler’ who is used to simple, older accommodations. If you are used to chain hotels, you might not find St. Marks very comfortable.

This is a great stay for a night or two. It’s affordable and conveniently located in a great neighbor with lots to do. The hotel could use remodeling and maintenance. The staff is nice and they do clean but it’s only as good as the structure of the building. I’d suggest for the hotel to invest in updating the facility so it doesn’t feel so dated and dirty.

This is a great place to stay on a budget but please remember they only except cash. The staff were great the rooms were clean. It was just a nice cozy place to stay. My only complaint is there was no hot water. If you like a cold shower then you will enjoy it. Thst eas my only issue. Highly recommend staying here. I will stay there again.

You get what you pay for and no ugly surprises. Pay in cash. Tiny bathroom in the room instead of shared bathroom is a plus. Room fits more than the bed and your suitcase. Number 6 train across the street; shopping dining and NYU locations are in walking distance. I would stay there again

I asked for a few hours late check out because my flight was delayed 7 hours and I didn’t get in until 8am, and the front desk person (today- said his name was Tim) said NO because I was “difficult” and was the rudest hotel worker I have met. I didn’t even end up going since I didn’t want to bother checking in to sleep 2 hours.

Awful. Staff are rude and unhelpful. Toilet flush didn’t work properly and it blocked regularly and I was told to sort it out myself. You have to pay in cash which is ridiculous. Will never ever go back.

The only thing great about this hotel is its location - super-close to subway to go to any direction. Easy to find inexpensive and expensive places to eat. However, if you are used to any level of service and standards of accommodation - this is not the place for you. Also, if you are bringing kids. Or if you are a light sleeper. It’s an extremely loud place at night. Here are specifics of many problems with this place: - lots of narrow staircases you’ll have to haul you suitcases and children in. - mold on the shower walls - towels are stiff and thin like a sandpaper, they are abrasive and scratch the skin. - towels look like they never been properly washed, they’ve become tan in color while being white originally I believe. - old dust was all over the bathroom, including shells and corners - the lights by the beds did not turn on, had to use ah overhead light. - the electric outlet by beds was loose and didn’t work , you have to charge your phone far from the bed. - staff never responded to our request to fix the outlet - they demanded we pay in cash, which never was mentioned on their page on the Hotels app. Kind of fishy. - the blankets looked old and not clean - as I could tell by the condition of everything else on the room. - the emergency exits diagram was torn off and shoved on top of the closet - the fire alarm was wrapped into a black plastic bag ! Screaming unsafe. I don’t have a problem with old places if they’re properly maintained. This hotel is not.
