Preconceituosos

Esta foi minha terceira estada no Smart Hotel, e última. Gosto do Uruguai, de sua gente, dos vinhos, e dos ‘asados’. Costumo ficar em Pocitos (onde sempre sou bem-vindo) e no Centro, como fiz dessa vez. Logo não gostei de nada , nada, da receptividade que tive desta vez.

Desde a chegada o olhar vidrado do concierge, sua falta de gentileza e mau humor, deram o tom de toda a estadia. Teria sido homofobia? Não sei. O café da manhã piorou, e algumas frutas tinham gosto de cebola em ambos os dias (contaminação cruzada). O banheiro do quarto alagava. Posto aqui fotos / registros, e ainda algumas avaliações, sempre muito positivas, que recebi no Airbnb ( para que não pairem dúvidas sobre minha conduta). Infelizmente não houve espaço para postar todas aqui, no entanto encontram-se disponíveis. Independente disso, sigo cliente da Booking, referência para mim há quase 20 anos , contudo nunca vi tamanha falta de profissionalismo como desta vez no referido estabelecimento. Posto inclusive o vergonhoso folheto de “boas-vindas” do “Smart” Hotel, que avoca leis uruguaias (direito de expulsão e retenção) para intimidar hóspedes. Vergonhoso!

Muy prolijo y bien cuidado el hotel, tanto la habitación como el baño. En general 9 puntos.

El colchón no era muy cómodo, y se filtraba bastante olor a cigarrillo por el baño. Se ve que algún otro huésped fumaba en el baño y llegaba a nuestra habitación. Otro detalle que estaría bueno mejorar es la insonorización de la puerta, se escucha todo lo que pasa en el pasillo

Wonderful hotel in sketchy neighborhood

The hotel is very nice with great staff, great rooms, nice bed, pillows, shower, and a good restaurant. The Internet was strong and steady, and TV had a few English speaking shows.

The neighborhood is sketchy with a lot of poverty, trash, and homeless people. I always felt safe, but those looking for upper class neighborhood should look elsewhere.

Smart Hotel es un hotel genial.

La habitación es muy bonita, el aire acondicionado es silencioso, las camas cómodas, tiene buen internet, variedad de canales de tv cable, el desayuno tiene variedad, el personal es muuy atento y amigable. La ubicación del hotel es perfecta!!! El restaurante que tienen en la planta baja está abierto hasta medianoche, lo cual es bastante útil cuando llegas de tu viaje tarde en la noche y tienes esa opción a la mano. Por cierto, las pizzas artesanales estaban deliciosas :D. Además, es genial que en la habitación tengas un hervidor de agua eléctrico, tazas, vasos, cucharillas y sobrecitos de té, café y azúcar. Excelente!!

La ubicación es excelente para visitar el centro histórico de Montevideo, también tienes fácil acceso a todos los demás sitios de la ciudad. El desayuno estuvo satisfactorio, siempre se puede mejorar. Me agrado el poder contar con un espacio para hacer ejercicios en el hotel.

A great stay in hotel near main strip

A great hotel near Main Street, but absolutely nothing to do in Montevideo… we thought we’d go across in ferry to Montevideo from Buenes Aires… stayed here 3 days but dead streets and no tourism. Hotel staff are super, breakfast was ok - only down side was single bed sized… they were like only 2.5 foot wide and not big enough for us 6 footers… otherwise all good…

A Good Centro Location, Large Room, Helpful Front Desk

Booking gave it an 8.6, but at $50/night I had my doubts. All in all it deserved exactly a rating of 7.7, good Centro location, large room, and helpful front desk. I would have given it a better rating, but I don't give anything above an 8.0 to a hotel whose lobby smells of sewage. The front desk personnel should be given a raise for working in it all day long.

There is a lobby restaurant called Bar Americano that is both a blessing and a curse. While it's nice to have a very accessible meal after a very late night arrival, it was rather mediocre and who wants to travel all the way to Uruguay from the States to eat at a place called Bar Americano? My room (#102) was a very large corner unit and was therefore susceptible to street noise from two streets. Our first night's sleep was irrevocably harmed by a block party outside a nearby nightclub called Chains Disco Pub. You know the music halfway down the street is loud, when your wife can Shazam it while lying next to you in bed. I was never a fan of Gloria Gaynor and listening to “I Will Survive” in bed at three in the morning doesn't make it any more enjoyable.

The lady at the hotel reception was extremely helpful. I can only thank her for accompanying me in my search for a restaurant. The location of the hotel is good, the rooms are nice, and it is a very nice hotel.

Comfortable and clean room. Good breakfast. Location is walking distance to all major sites, however on a busy street.
