We have just returned from Villa Ad Astra and had an amazing holiday at this property which is quite beautiful. The villa is very spacious and extremely comfortable, the grounds are really well-maintained and the pool is just wonderful, with the beach just beyond. We were so well-looked after, fantastic service from the team there. Beyond the villa (if you can tear yourself away), we cannot recommend Sri Lanka highly enough as a destination - lovely people, so much to see and do with interesting cities, wonderful wild/birdlife and beautiful/varied landscape. We will be back!

We stayed here for the 4th time and Jan's House is just a little paradise. After the bad news of Colombo we changed our plans and travelled back to the house and can say that this is one of the safest places you could stay at. As always Thilak and his crew were looking after us greatly and the food was fantastic. The house is since 8 years in the same good shape and with the spacious pool and awesome sea views you cannot wish for more. Thank you Jan for having us stay at this wonderful oasis.

We spent four weeks at Ad Astra and thoroughly enjoyed it. The villa and property and beautiful and well situated for trips to see the sites of Sri Lanka. The staff are terrific and make every effort for you to enjoy your stay.

We enjoyed seven days at this wonderful villa. It's not far from Colombo airport (about an hour), which makes it perfect from a short or long break. It's extremely clean, the rooms are large and the staff are brilliant - very friendly and helpful. The food was also great, as was the big shared pool. The best part was waking up every morning to hear the waves crash on the shore. We'll be back!

This was our third stay at Villa Ad Astra and it felt like coming home. The service of Thilak and his staff is excellent. The house is decorated with taste and the furniture is of very good quality. The pool is huge and cleaned everyday. Furthermore the property is very safe being surrounded by a wall and having 24hr security. It is an aussum place if you are looking for a place with lots of privacy, space and very friendly staff. It is like in a hotel but 1000x better. We feel very happy to be able to spend our holidays in such a paradise. Thank you!

A lovely house that is spacious, comfortable and clean. Thilak and his team were excellent, provided delicious meals and catered quietly and efficiently to our every need. The outside area and pool are equally lovely. Galle, the tsunami museum and sea turtles are all worth visiting. Good supermarket in the village. There are better beaches in Sri Lanka so probably not the place if you want a beach stay but otherwise I would highly recommend this place.

A beautiful villa, in a wonderful location with amazing grounds, which are well maintained by a the gardening team, a fabulous pool and lovely tennis court. The house staff keep the house immaculate and cater for your every need. We stayed here for 4 weeks in July and used this villa as a base to explore. We enjoyed trips to Yala National Park, whale watching, turtle hatchery, temples, boat trips, Columbo, Galle and even managed to watch some test match cricket in Galle. We enjoyed many lovely strolls along the beach and enjoyed chatting to the locals. The nearest station is 10 mins walk away so we took advantage of the super rail system on some of our trips and other times we used a driver called Indy who was very knowledgable and a very safe driver. Our hosts were helpful with all our questions and queries. Thank you Jan and Agneta for sharing your beautiful home.

We would like to thank you for our stay in your beautiful house. Very relaxing, we took pleasure in sitting on the terrace or reading near the pool. Thilak and the 2 women prepared us good dishes according to our tastes. Also very good pancakes for my children. This is a fantastic place to holiday if you want to relax in beautiful surroundings and not have a care in the world. The villa is great, big rooms and really comfy, loads of seating outside and in to sit and read or just chill out with a drink. The kitchen appeared to have everything you need but to be honest Mr Thilak just does everything and anything for you so you rarely have to go in there. He is there with fresh tea when you wake, makes breakfast and is in and out throughout the day making sure you want for nothing. Then comes dinner, wow, Sri Lankan cuisine at its best. He makes awesome devilled prawns and great curries with the help of the two ladies, who needs lots of restaurants, you feel like you're in one every Evening! Our kids tried everything and loved it all but Thilak went out of his way to accomodate them, making them fried chicken & fries, fresh pancakes for breakfast & stocked up with ice cream etc when it was running low. After our safari trip our kids couldn't wait to get back to see Thilak! Sitting outside relaxing on the terrace, listening to the sea in such beautiful surroundings, next to a lovely, large pool.....heaven. if you want to travel and explore then there is lots to see, we took a trip to Yala for a jeep safari which was a great experience, seeing elephants up so close in their natural habitat is magical. Be warned though, it's a 5.30am Start! Because of this we travelled the day before and stayed over in a hotel near Yala (The rain tree) which was very nice and great value. Opul, the tuk tuk driver next door to the villa arranged everything and took us. Never had such a relaxing holiday or been so well looked after. Thank you, we will return one day as there is so much more we want to see. Ps the weather in August was great, we had one shower in two weeks and a constant 28°, perfect...kids were really happy & safe in the pool. Added bonus the security guard & gardener were always around & made the whole holiday more relaxing as we felt so safe & secure.

This is a wonderful place, managed by a pleasant crew. Four villas on a size-able plot share the swimming pool, which was fine during our stay with a British family in one of the other villas. There is direct access to the beach and the garden is well maintained and quite large. The villa has a pleasant feel to it with various couches, a big screen TV, books and magazines and even a study area! The house was clean and welcoming upon arrival. Distance to Galle Road is a 5 min walk where busses and tuk-tuks abound. Nice restaurants at a 20 min walk or short tuk tuk ride, various day trips possible to e.g. Galle or Colombo. Nearby Kalutara also has some interesting places to visit. We would definitely recommend this place to friends or relatives.

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful villa for 3 weeks July/aug2016. The pictures really don't do it justice....I do not normally bother to write a review once home. The chef/manager was on hand to help with anything...phone sims, advice on travel and receipes .... My husband being a keen cook intended to cook with him but was so impressed decided against. The grounds are large and only one of the other villas was ever rented out....but the pool is plenty big enough to share tho we only shared it on a couple of occasions. The grounds are constantly being groomed and the beach(sandy) really is only through the gate. It is a place to relax and chill and be waited on...literally. There are only a few bars in neighbouring hotels to walk to....so if you are looking for lots of night life this is not the right location. We used it as a base and did a couple of 2 day trips around the island, drivers can be arranged at a reasonable price. We also used the trains which were much quicker and cheaper to travel around. We felt very safe all holiday and the owner was very courteous and helpful in the booking process. We would recommend this villa and country to anyone considering it.

We were staying in the villa for 1 week, two families with 4 little kids and we enjoyed it very much! The property has everything what you need and more. The stuff - Tilak and co, made the stay really homy and relaxing. Tilak cooked us great dinners and made us fine breakfasts. They cared for us all the time without being pushy. The villa and the whole property is spacious and stylish, with big swimming pool that has also a smaller pool for kids. You can relax at the pool with kids safely playing in the pool! The beach is nice, and so close that you have to speak up if you want to hear each other because the sound of the waves is so loud:)! We also rode an elephant at the beach and the kids loved it! We didn't go out of the property much, because of the kids, but also we had everything there! Perhaps the only negative side is, that there are no nice restaurants or shopps near the villa reachable on foot. But for the first week in Sri Lanka we really needed to relax and the villa is perfect for that! We highly recommend it for families with little kids!

Wir waren 3 Wochen hier. Der Bewertung von Manitu können wir uneingeschränkt zustimmen. Das Team im Haus hat einen jeden Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen. Inbesonders unser Fahrer und Guide hat uns Land und Leute autentisch nähergebracht. In fliesendem Deutsch mit viel Wissen und Humor! Danke für die schöne Zeit.... :-)

Wir verbrachten 2 Wochen in diesem tollen Ferienhaus. Gleich zu Beginn wurden wir mit einem Abendessen von Tilak, dem Koch verwöhnt. Er beriet uns, half, kochte und kümmerte sich zusammen mit Debika und einer Reinigungskraft hervorragend um alles. Hochachtung! Insbesondere konnten wir durch Tilak mit Indi, unserem Fahrer und Reiseführer für 18 Tage, Kontakt herstellen. Dies war eine große Bereicherung für unseren Urlaub. Das Haus selbst lässt keine Wünsche übrig. der Pool hat genau die richtige Temperatur um sich bei 32 °C "Dauertemperatur" abzukühlen. Der Strand ist ebenfalls sehr schön, allerdings mit vielen Teilen, die aus Indien angespült werden. (Plaste) Das Haus ist komplett klimatisiert, man kann nat. auch abschalten. WLAN ist inclusive, TV mit indischem Musikkanal auch zu empfehlen. Es gibt einen Wachschutz. In Sri Lanka hatten wir (2 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder nie ein unsicheres Gefühl. DAS HAUS IST SUPER! Sehr zu empfehlen.
