We had a great time in Isla Verde/Carolina. Lots of restaurants near condo and directly on the beach. Host Maxine was very accommodating and responsive. Will definitely stay here again!

Got to the place and it had everything you needed. Clean in all the rooms. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Three of us stayed at the retreat and found it to be spacious and comfortable. The view from the patio was lovely (provided you can look beyond the abandoned pool area that is a little of an eye sore unfortunately). Maxine was a gracious host and accommodated an early arrival and an extra night’s stay. Communication was stellar from booking to checkout. We also appreciated the full disclosure that the pool was not working but booked anyway since the beach is literally also right outside the door. Our only suggestion was that a notebook be provided with “helpful hints”. We got the impression that there was one in the house at some point though it wasn’t there during our stay. Maxine answered all our questions promptly so it didn’t take away from our visit though if we’d had it, we might have been able to save her a few texts 😊. Overall a great stay and a very welcoming host.

Great spot to stay! Very close to several necessities, grocery within 1/4 mile, and several restaurants. Bar, snack shop, and games area all within the complex. This is the hotel district so all the food prices at restaurants are somewhat inflated. Parking garage with free parking and reserved spot super helpful. Very safe area, no problem walking around at night by yourself. Apartment was spacious and beds are very comfortable. Appreciated the leather furniture instead of cloth especially in a VRBO. Lots of towels available and loved having a washer and dryer in the unit. We were a family of 4, two older boys and it worked perfect. Wifi was enough to support our devices, but could use an extender to the back bedroom. There were chairs for the beach and beach toys for littles. We added some inflatable floats to the collection for riding the waves. Clean, but could use a deep clean to get in the corners and in the cabinets. Keep in mind I'm kinda a clean freak. Light switches kinda confusing and craftsmanship on renovations and repairs was not of high quality. Overall would be on my list to stay there again!!

The place is beautiful, the owner is accommodating, she has supplied every amenity you would ever need. We had a fabulous time .

If you want to be in a great location in a nice condo, this is the place to stay. Lots of restaurants walking distance, grocery store nearby and a short drive to Old San Juan or Condado area. We traveled as a family of 5 with 3 teenagers and the space was perfect! Beds were comfy and place was very clean and spacious. Super nice having 2 bathrooms too. Kitchen had nice plates, glasses, pots, pans etc., if you want to cook. It isn’t your own kitchen but pretty darn close. The balcony is great with a nice view of the pool. Yes, the air conditioning unit goes off at times but if did not bother us at all. We were out there all the time and enjoyed every moment. We were hesitant after reading some reviews and I have to say I’m so glad we booked. This unit had everything we needed for an enjoyable trip. Thank you Maxine for a wonderful vacation and thank you for delivering a bottle of champagne on New Years Eve. Hope to stay again!! You were a pleasure to work with.

Terrific location, nice view of pool and ocean, and short walk to beach. 3rd floor is convenient. Pool and beach do close early. Small store in building for essentials. There is a bar in lobby and at pool. Restaurants and grocery store within walking distance. Can rent chairs and umbrella at beach. Short Uber to Old San Juan is worth the trip. Unit is clean and has a lot of essentials for cooking, laundry, beach, etc; even a folding grocery cart for shopping. Enjoy.

The condo was definitely overpriced. We wound and the property owner was a nightmare. She lied about the price then tried to charge us more for and “early check in” and “additional guests” even though there were no additional guests and the property was listed for (7) people and we only had (3).

Very good property that is being renovated. Room is older but clean. Beds are decent. Great AC! All appliances work and having two showers is nice after the beach.

Maxine was very communicative. We had a few issues with our stay and she had them fixed very quickly. Pictures are as shown. Place was clean but the building is older which I think is the cause of the musty smell. There were a few Damp Aid water bags to help with the smell in the condo. The middle bedroom has no A/C vent but there were a couple of portable fans to use to help with the heat. Liked that there were also a few beach chairs to use along with a boogie board.

Family of 7 in Puerto Rico for a week vacation. The condo was clean and spacious. I had minimal communication with my host which in my eyes is a good thing. Besides asking for towels I didn’t have any issues to discuss with her. Location is perfect. Pool on site and a 3 min walk to the beach. Restaurants and shops within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.

I love the layout of the property, just need some updates and supplied with essentials. Maxine is great owner, easy to talk to, and welcomed suggestions.

This is a great location-the pool is great and the beach beautiful! The apartment was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 teens. There was enough room for us all to have some space or spend time together. Most of the apartment is recently updated, and quite comfortable. Puerto Rico was a wonderful surprise. The people are warm, the food is great and you don't feel constantly "hustled" like you do on some of the other Caribbean islands. Maxine is extremely helpful and responds really quickly to questions, provided helpful suggestions but gave us space to explore on our own. I would definitely recommend this home for your home away from home!

The property owner is very accessible and friendly, which makes all the logistics very easy to deal with. As for the property itself, you have the beach right outside the gate, a well-kept and large pool on the 1st floor, a supermarket only a 5-minute walk from the property, and multiple restaurants all next door. You cannot beat this location if you want to avoid having a car in San Juan. Highly recommended for first-time visitors to Puerto Rico, as this place will make your stay east, comfortable, and pleasant!

The condo was great with close proximity to airport, restaurants and right on the beach. Maxine was very responsive to any and all questions and helped make the whole process a breeze. We would definitely stay there again.

Pictures are accurate of what the condo looks like.Negatives: I was sneezing for the first 3 nights and was not sure why. I then cleaned all the sheets, pillow covers and bedding. I had no issues after that. I am confidant the owner will address the cleanliness issue. I wanted to leave a higher rating but could not due to this issue.Also, the building restaurant and game room were closed. I assume it is due to covid and they may re-open later.

Our family enjoyed our stay. The condo offers access to nice pool and beach and is close to restaurants, activities and San Juan. Lobby of building and pool area are nice but the rest still shows some signs of hurricane damage (nothing overly significant). When you arrive definitely ask for towel cards and wristband for access to beach - we went a couple days without those because we didn’t specifically ask for them. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Location was great. The overall facility not that great (Mare staff) they were non committed to their non-guest. Parking terrible, difficult to navigate and spaces to small to accommodate a big vehicle. If there is reserve parking space one have to drive all over the tight space parking garage to find it if one was lucky. The description on VRBO lack or is missing some information. There are only 3 bed (one king and two queen) plus a rolled-away bed. We could not enjoy the view from the balcony or porch because of the AC unit sitting in there. It was to noisy and hot and if you turn it off, it gets hot inside. There were items that are not provided but are not message on the VRBO listing that no amenities; i.e., soap, trash bags, detergent, paper towels and toilet paper or "no more towels, you can wash" are provided. Also, I believe that a small cooler should be available to guess so they can take drinks to the beach. Ass and addended comment, a note shall be included on VRBO advising guest that if they go shopping in Puerto Rico (supermarket) to take their own bags because none are provided by the stores. They sell it for $.99 cents each.

Maxine is a great hostess, she is very accommodating and gracious! We had a great time in Isla Verde. The beach and pool were right there and so much fun! The hotel is still being remodeled but we were not inconvenienced by it at all. The apartment is very comfortable and had plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 2 teens. Thank you Maxine, we hope to be back soon!

You can't get much better than the location of Maxine's condo. It's steps from Isla Verde beach and all the great restaurants of Isla Verde. The condo is very spacious. It easily accommodated my wife and I and our four kids age 19-12. It was very comfortable and included everything you need including a full kitchen and washer/dryer... and a parking space in the underground garage. It was a great home base for us to explore the island. It's located inside the St. Clair Mare hotel. You check in like you would in a regular hotel. They provide access keys for the security gate to the beach and cards to use the hotel towels for the beach and pool. You can also set up a "room account" so that you can charge purchases to your room in the hotel restaurant and bar. (This was very convenient at the pool side bar!) Maxine provides the pass code for the lock on the door to the condo before you arrive. The hotel is under going renovations. All of the main areas of the hotel have been completely renovated including the pool; which is fantastic. Some of the hallways are in the process of being updated so there was some old carpet and missing trim work. Being a privately owned, Maxine's condo has not been updated to match the more modern style of the rooms pictured on the hotel website although it is very well maintained and tastefully decorated. The over-sized balcony has spectacular views of the ocean and pool with plenty of room to sit and relax. And finally, Maxine was great to work with. She was very responsive to my questions and made the process very easy! If you're looking for a spacious condo at an affordable price in a great location, this is it.

My husband and I traveled with my aging mother and college-age daughter and son. The condo was the perfect size, comfortable, and felt like home. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking up a nice meal: large refrigerator with an ice-maker, large oven and stove top, dishwasher, garbage disposal, plenty of dishes, pots and pans, utensils and glasses. Everything in working order and clean enough to feel healthy. While the decor and environment does not feel new, it feels "lived-in" and "homey", like you don't have to worry about bringing in a little sand from the beach. The patio has a lovely view! WOW!! The outdoor furniture is worn and a bit weather beaten, which is understandable. All the chair cushions needed help but we just covered them with towels. The beds are comfortable enough, although the sheets and towels could use refreshing. It is very easy to access the pool and the beach which was important since my mother cannot walk far or on uneven surfaces. You can exchange your beach towel as many times a day as needed so no washing necessary. The fitness room is small and cramped but has all new equipment. The tv's in the fitness room are not working so bring your own music or entertainment. The lobby has a lovely lounge but the bar was not open for service. I do not recommend eating breakfast at the restaurant in the condo, food was mediocre, coffee weak and price high. Internet was spotty, but who cares when you are in the Caribbean! Overall, the condo was just perfect for our needs. Do not expect a super modern and all updated decor, just a "home-away-from-home" atmosphere to relax and enjoy the beach.
