Charming home. Close to everything you'd want to see in San Diego, but you might not want to leave. Pool table on the first floor, hot tub on the roof where you can watch the Seaworld fireworks each night, small swimming pool in the back. There's plenty of room - we had 8 people. A place to park your car. Short walk to the beach and restaurants. And the owner is great. What more could you want?

Beautiful home and location!

We had a group of 10 adults celebrating a 50th birthday. We absolutely LOVED this house and the location can NOT be beat. We walked to the grocery store multiple times. So convenient. There are tons of restaurants and bars literally 5 minutes away on foot, not to mention the beach. Ryan was an awesome host. You didn't know he was there but if you needed something, he appeared in minutes. He even shipped some items we left behind and wouldn't let me pay for it. I can't say enough good things about this rental.

This home was such a fun piece of history, we loved the house! Not only was it in the perfect location for being able to walk and bike to so many things, the interior decoration was so fun to explore, it felt like a movie set home, which made it feel special! The pool was actually deeper than we thought which was a great perk. We paid to have the pool heated and used the hot tub on the roof, which was awesome. We used the bikes provided by the house and rented a few more for the kids, we did need to get the tires filled on the provided bikes, but that was easy. We loved riding down the beach as well as the bay to get meals and ice cream. The house felt like such an easy access point for everywhere we wanted to go, like La Jolla, Balboa Park and even Legoland and Temecula. As for the house itself, the kitchen was very well stocked, the beds were so comfortable and the extra things that were provided like beach wagons, bikes, beach toys, tons of towels, etc was such a big help to us as we flew across the country. We also felt that the rooms had enough window shade to make the rooms dark for sleeping, important for us on a different time zone! Ryan was easy to communicate with and he was so very prompt. I feel like the host communication can be glossed over but it really helps when the host has clear instructions and prompt responses to questions; and Ryan was great at all of that, clear communication to us as renters and prompt with any questions we had!

Ryan was a wonderful host. He was always responsive, patient and helpful. As the parents of the groom, we wanted a place to congregate. None of our family live in San Diego, so it became a place where we could all relax and catch up. It was a "home away from home". The challenge with finding a home to rent, was that we needed one with a bedroom that was on the main floor, near the kitchen. My in-laws find stairs challenging, so this just perfect! The kitchen was spacious, the outside area had plenty of room for all of us to relax. The kids enjoyed the heated pool and I enjoyed the rooftop jacuzzi. From the rooftop you could see the ocean, and the otherside, the bay. Thank you Ryan for sharing your beautiful, historic and 'full of personality' home with us. I hope we have another occasion to rent it in the future! All the best.

We came to SD for daughters college graduation. This home was PERFECT. Tremendous charm throughout the house. Outdoor space was amazing for entertaining. Parking was excellent (important for beach area properties). All the beds were very comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again.

Great house to celebrate. We had a graduation party with family and friends from across the country. Then we had a Mother’s Day get together. Plenty of room and the pool table was a hit.

Very cool classic house with beautiful pool area and rooftop hot tub. Can’t beat the location just a block from the beach! Really enjoyed our stay, quiet peaceful neighbourhood.

If I could give this property more than five stars I would. Better than the listing. The owner was very pleasant and maintains the house in tip-top condition. Gorgeous place with oak beamed ceilings and excellent furnishings. Everything looks "storybook" in the house except the kitchen, bathrooms, pool and hot tub. Those look new or close to it - all high quality marble, granite, etc. Choose this place! You won't regret it.

This was a great property for a family reunion (7 people). The house is perfectly laid out so everyone can be together on the main floor or outside, while there is ample privacy if people need some time alone in their bedrooms. The kitchen is fantastic. If that wasn’t enough, the short walk to the beach makes this property even more attractive. Ryan was a great host, and we all really enjoyed our stay.

There were six very little girls, their parents and grandparents and this home worked perfectly for us. Walked to the beach, grocery store and dinner and the pool was perfect for them. Would highly recommend.

Our large group of family and friends absolutely loved this stunning historic home near the beach. It was located close to both the beach and Mission Bay, allowing easy access to both - often by walking. We thoroughly enjoyed the roof-top hot tub, the bikes, and the many and varied lounging areas. Cooking in the large kitchen was easy for us, and it was well appointed. The charming, unique bedrooms were comfy and we slept well. Having a first floor bedroom is great for older folks! We used the pool table extensively, and it was a fun focal point for lots of great gaming. Birders in our group saw numerous new species in the lush, enclosed backyard. The outside pool heated well, and was enjoyed by young and old in our group. The off-street parking was usefull on busy weekend and holiday days, and helped make life simple. Thanks again for a great stay, we hope to be back in the future!

Our family of eight (2 Seniors, 2 Adults, and 4 Children ages 9-15) from Virginia stayed a week. "Storybook" home is everything advertised and more. Very friendly and accommodating landlord. Super clean and kitchen has everything needed to prepare and serve meals. Lots of shopping and great restaurants within easy walking distance. Pacific ocean and beaches are just 2 blocks away. Home has its own pool and hot-tub if you prefer otherwise. Private parking (a rarity) for 2 cars included. Truly an enjoyable experience for the entire family!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a delightful VRBO property located at Pacific Beach, San Diego, and it was an absolute treat for our family gathering. As a family of ten, with two teenagers and two younger children, finding a place that caters to everyone's needs can be challenging, but this house was more than up to the task. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The house itself is spacious and well-appointed, ensuring that each member of our family had their own comfortable space. The layout of the home was perfect for family gatherings as well as offering quiet nooks for some alone time, which is essential when traveling with a large group. The location of the property is a highlight in itself. For families with children and teenagers, this house is a dream. The younger ones had ample space to play and explore safely, while the teenagers appreciated the proximity to local hotspots and the independence that afforded them. In terms of amenities, the house left nothing to be desired. The kitchen was well-equipped for family meals, bedrooms were cozy and well-maintained. We highly recommend this home.

We had a family reunion (all adults) and every single person loved this enchanting home. It is full of rich history yet also has modern kitchen and bathrooms and great amenities such as a small heated pool (small extra charge), hot tub and pool table. From the rooftop you had some peeks of the ocean and could gaze over the bay from the hot tub. Just know that there are many sets of stairs throughout, but it does have the main living areas and a large en-suite bedroom on the main floor for those who cannot do stairs. It is a great location, easy walk to Ralphs grocery, boardwalk/ocean or bay. It is in a cute, safe, quiet neighborhood. Ryan lives just next door (adjoining) so he is super helpful and communicative, but gives you total privacy during your vacation (you will not see a trace of him). Thank you for an amazing stay!

We traveled to San Diego for my nieces wedding. This house fit our group perfectly. We were traveling with all ages from 18 months to 80 years old. It was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. Toddler loved all the pool and beach toys. Teens loved the pool table, pool and hot tub. The outdoor space was great and felt very secluded. We liked the proximity to the grocery store and beach as well. We all loved this home!

We had a lovely time at the Storybook House. The location was perfect - so easy to get to the beach, the bay, the grocery store and coffee shops and restaurants. Our 3 small grandchildren loved the pool - and our gathering place for every meal was at the patio table. Ryan was extremely accommodating - we had everything we needed, and more!

The Storybook house is in a perfect location. It is close to the beach, restaurants, grocery store, and a short drive to various attractions like Torrey Pines, La Jolla Beach, Mission Bay, Annie’s Canyon. The house had plenty of space (bathrooms, bedrooms) for our family of 8. The backyard/pool area was a great place for the family to gather. We enjoyed cooling off in the 3.5 ft. Pool. Ryan was a great host and responded quickly if we had questions. We will definitely return!

This is our 4th year staying at Ryan's home in Pacific Beach. We have vacationed in San Diego for many years, and this home meets our needs way beyond anywhere else we stayed previously. Our kids and grandkids ages 1-11 join us and the roominess and comfort of the house itself, the large patio area, the pool, hot tub, and walking distance to both bay and oceanside beaches are all features that make our extended family vacation so much fun. The neighborhood is quiet and it's nice to get away from the hubbub of the beach itself, but be close enough to easily enjoy it. Ryan is always wonderful to work with throughout the reservation process and during our stay itself.

Fantastic property for our family reunion for eight days! The house is spacious, has various sitting areas inside and out for smaller group gatherings. 12 family members were very comfortable in their bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything was in excellent working order. The 3.5ft high built in pool in yard and roof top hot tub were well used & appreciated. Also evening pool games inside were a lot of fun! We cooked dinners at home 5 nights, All appliances were easy to use and were in great working order including gas grill outside. We had another house of 12 that were able to join us to enjoy the pool and to eat altogether. We were walking distance to ocean and bay. 4 bikes and other beach toys were all used on a regular basis making it delightful to get out and ride on boardwalk for sunsets! Owner is readily available if needed. He was very responsive when we had an issue with the garbage disposal. It was taken care of immediately after we contacted him!

Very quaint cottage style house with plenty of room for our large group. Great location! Two blocks from the beach and restaurants and grocery store. Parking for more than two vehicles was a challenge but not terrible. Prefect place to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from UCSD!

This was a lovely home and Ryan was wonderful. There are many uneven stairs but if you’re sure footed the charm more than makes up for it. There was plenty of room, the beds we’re comfortable and the counter space was plenty. It was wonderful for the family dinners that we had. I will definitely return.

We are 5 senior Seattle friends who have known each other for over 60 years. For several years we meet for an extravaGANZA trip to a different US destination. This year was San Diego and this VRBO storybook house was perfect in amenities, cleanliness, and location. Easy walk or shirt drives to beach, restaurants, and of course coffee.

My wife and I stayed at the Storybook house with our 5 kids and our friends with their 3 children (12 people total). There was more than enough room in the house for all of us to stay and it is an amazing location for accessing both the ocean or the bay. Thank you Ryan for being such an accommodating host. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
