The staff at Ravana Heights are amazing!! We actually booked really last minute to make a longer trip to Ella after leaving Kandy early and they were so helpful! As we arrived they served us lovely tea and gave us lots of tips for the area. They served an amazing breakfast and their pancakes are delicious. The garden you have breakfast in is really lovely and you have an excellent view of Ella rock. The location is also very good as it’s only at 5 min walk to the start of Main Street. The staff really do everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. So glad we stumbled across this place to stay last minute!

Nothing it was a great stay!

Not much, except the room was ready on time.

A below average experience, they increased the cost stating its tax, but did not give any break up of that while booking, they were even asking for 3% extra for card swipe or USD. Room did not even have a balcony, while all the other rooms had one, there was no electricity one day and we had to open the doors to mosquitoes for a few ours as we did not have any source of air. View was shown as if it was of a mountain, but it was a road in front which was full of noise. An all ladies staff is good but when you need to do all heavy lifting yourself, with over 40 stairs in a hilly terrain, then that's not a holiday, one needs to have a trolley system or a provision for luggage.

- expensive for the value compared to other stays in Ella and to other locations. (For the same price in other places in Sri Lanka we had far more luxurious hotels, higher comfort levels, more facilities), dinner is 15$ which is really high compared to any restaurant in Ella - no staff to help with the luggages in the many stairs (the hotel owner is there but he sends the elderly ladies to carry the suitcases, of course we didn’t want that)

Please book this hotel - it’s amazing! We booked our trip very last minute and this was one of the few hotels that was available when we were visiting. Initially I was underwhelmed and a little sceptical but it turned out to be one of the most amazing places we stayed. I grew very attached to both the property and the staff. I genuinely felt like I was saying goodbye to family when we left. The service is beyond anything we have received even in the most expensive hotels. The women who work there went out of their way to make our stay feel like a home away from home. From offering to cook us dinner, and catering to our fussy dietary requirements to washing my dress after I was bitten by a leech, and nothing was too much to ask for. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking in to the centre and the train station. Also each room in the hotel has the most incredible views over Ella! I have attached some photos which do it absolutely no justice at all. One of these is the view from inside the shower!! I can’t imagine anyone staying here and not feeling extremely looked after.

There are a few steps to carry your suitcase up, but it’s worth it!

There is so much to love about Ravana Heights. We were welcomed warmly by the owner and his staff with freshly made tea and pancakes. We enjoyed this treat out of the patio looking out to Little Adams Peak. Breakfast is always out on the patio so we got to enjoy this view everyone morning of our visit - one of the highlights of our time in Ella. The rooms are spacious, clean and use good quality linen. The owner Senadhi grew up in the area and provided us with so many great tips. He even organized a free tuk tuk tour one morning to take us to some of Ella’s best kept secrets. A great experience!Another highlight of our stay was dinner cooked by Vasanthi and the other staff. It was the best meal we had while in Sri Lanka and I would highly recommend it. Ravana Heights is located above the main road heading into Ella but because of its height you hardly notice the road. The walk into town is about 5 minutes so it’s very accessible.
