Location was good and size of villa was good

The place was not clean. The oven was disgusting with some type of food left in the oven which was covered in mould

Accommodation was a sectioned bedroom with in a lodge. Very noisy, woken early Sunday morning. Room a bit rundown and much more smaller than expected. Had to ask for bedding as bed not made, coverings were stained.

I was extremely pleased that when I looked from memory the quoted price was $162 per night. By the time I came to book the price was $170 per night which I challenged. On arrival I was told that Huka Falls would honor the original price quoted at $162. This was very pleasing and I will recommend this venue to others and definitely use in future visits.

Clean one bedroom unit, only several stairs, covered parking area. It had a good sized kitchen (as per description on website. TV, a/c and quiet surroundings with ducks in the swimming pool. Had a couple of visits from a resident rag doll cat, smootchie!

It was quite run down. Bathroom was mid renovation? Curtains were very poor, dirty. Bedding was ok, pillows could have been better (had 2 single beds). Internet access was not good at all. Light fittings missing and paint/wallpaper was peeling, looked very sad/neglected. We had a couple move into the adjoining room so soundproofing was an issue on second night. Apparently owned by Chinese company probably going to sell for land value in the future.

Location was very good

The room was extremely small, kitchen area small also.It was connected to another room with very thin walls, we could hear everything the people in the next room was saying. Also photos on Bookings made the room look much bigger. Curtains were very dirty, obviously they had not been changed or washed for a long time. Layout of room poor, if sitting in chairs we could not see the TV. No room for small table so we had to eat meals sitting on the bed or balancing the meal on our knees while sitting in chair. Very disappointed, very over priced for what we got.

There was a shortage of cutlery and crockery. Only 1 teaspoon, 1 side plate and 1 breakfast bowl. As there were two of us we expected 2 of everything. Also where we were attached to the other villa we could hear the other guests talking so therefore they must have heard us. This made us feel a little uncomfortable. We never saw a member of staff at all even though we arrived well within a booking in time. Key was in an envelope attached on the door to reception

Carport was a bonus. Staff very friendly.

Room hadn't been vacuumed & there was grass on the carpet and the rooms smelled very damp and musty. Water stained curtains and skirting. TV reception was so poor it was unwatchable. Wifi was dial up speed (3Mbs) and could only be accessed from one room. Very thin walls, we could hear every word of the neighbour's conversation not to mention their noisy nocturnal activities!

Honestly what's not to like, extremely large rooms for the price and I fell in love with the design and feel of the rooms. Very homely, would definitely stay again!

Housekeeping dirty bag was left in the middle of the room, and the smell of carpet not the best.

Such a lovely quiet place to stay, we stay here all the time, we love it!!

Overall good layout of unit. Good to have two bedrooms and a carport to park under.

Poor lighting throughout - especially in the kitchen. Not enough power sockets in the bedrooms or kitchen, you have to unplug the microwave to plug in the kettle. Electric blanket didn't heat evenly, so concerned it might not be safe. The master bedroom didn't have the electric blanket on the bed, and it's the middle of winter. Some windows in the living area/kitchen had cracks, and one of the dining chairs was broken, so we never used that one. Tried contacting the person in reception to ask for help, as the heater in the hallway didn't work, and the previous guest's rubbish was left behind in a cupboard, but no response whatsoever. These units have potential, but are very tired and run down, and badly in need of maintenance and upgrading.

No breakfast, we brought our own. The tea bags were terrible. Dont waste money on this brand. Good facilities in general just a bit tired and dated

Tea bags. And floor in toilet appeared to be falling in. Low water pressure.

The staff member was friendly and lovely. Loved that the room was warm when we got there.

Comfortable bed

Musty smell. Grimy and felt unclean. The toilet was not bolted down. Toilet parting. (Health and safety issue) Toilet seat not screwed on. Was swiveling. Towel rail fell off because there was a bend in it, and its wall fitting fell off the wall. Stove top filthy. Cutlery and plates greasy. Cockroach on ceiling. Greasy fatty blind in kitchen. Lights were not working. No hand rail by steps. (safety issue) One towel for two people. Wifi not working. No smoke detector. It had been removed.

No tea towels no dishcloth but the fridge notice said you must do the dishes it was dirty you need to clean windows replace curtains and redo all your bedding it’s old and needs to be impeccable when guests sleep

spacious with living area

We have stayed several times during the NZ Equestrian Eventing Championships. We thought we had booked the full unit but it was only the one room half. This did not have the covered car port. The manager sorted this the next morning and opened up the whole unit which gave us access to the covered carport and covered steps. The full unit also had full cooking facilities. The manager was very good about the problems above and we enjoyed our convenient stay.

See comments in section above. Wooden steps exposed to the weather and were wet froze over night and were extremely slippery. Dangerous for anyone.

well-located for where we needed to be, and very quiet

Shabby, run-down, cold and uncomfortable. no maintenance appears to have been carried out. We booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 as it was so unpleasant. Very expensive for the condition and facilities. The lightbulb above the tv was fizzing and smoking! The property has so much potential so it’s a shame it has been neglected.

Cute cottage. Had a heat pump. Staff were helpful

No smoke alarms. Kitchen poorly equipped. No rangehood. No fry pan. Poor lighting in lounge, no bulb in down light in lounge. No heater or extraction fan in the bathroom. Would have liked coverings on the bathroom windows for privacy. Opaque windows didn't seem to be enough

Large rooms, nice quiet setting

Bedroom configuration not as requested, uncomfortable bed, very noisy floors when others walking around. Not much choice for cooking pans.

the we’re webs that we’re still present from the ceiling to the side walls and even get my face caught in one while walking up along the bed just before getting into it! There was also no toaster in our place. we had to drive out to go buy one just so that we could still make a proper breakfast. There was also staff shortages, which is understandable. But to state that there will be no room service available for the duration of the stay is very questionable for the price we have to pay to stay in the first place. If we had stayed there any longer than we did and still not have any sort of room service available, that would have made the stay and experience very frustrating. Tennis courts are advertised on the property, but we’re totally DELAPITATED! not maintained at all. The tennis courts were the main reason why we chose to stay with Huka Falls Quality Suites as we are tennis players. we were not happy.

Great accommodation to host a large family - heaps of room and all of the amenities were there. Beds were super comfy! Hosts were great, super friendly and just left us to enjoy our time. They were responsive to any queries we had which was great!

Would only recommend more cutlery, plates and bowls etc.
