Wonderful, affordable accommodation somewhat off the beaten path in Kathmandu. Sugat and family are very kind, gracious and eminently helpful hosts and went the extra mile to help me arrange transportation and such. Clean and spacious property. Amazing deal for the price!

I liked very much. Sugat and his family are incredible hosts, polite and professional, they took care of all my needs. The room was comfortable mad very quiet.

Even if the location was in a nice area, I felt quite lost sometimes because the urban structure of the city itself, but I got used to it!

A lovely family, full of helpful suggestions and local advice on where to eat/visit/how to get a SIM card etc! Was also great to meet a bunch of interesting travellers, and stay in a Nepali neighbourhood. And nice and quiet for sleeping. Overall, a great introduction to Nepal.

Swagat Homestay was ideal for my extended stay - 10 days and later 7 days. My room was comfortable and all I could have asked for. Swagat is in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to Thamel and other areas of interest. However, the primary reason I chose Swagat was because of the family. Sugat, Roshini and their two children live on site and were always accessible. Within a short time I became one of their family, invited to eat in their home and even introduced to their family. Living there was a close to feeling at home as I have in nearly four months of travel. I am confident that I will travel to Nepal again and stay at Swagat.

Wonderful hosts

Loved the kindness and caring approach of Sugat, the location was great - very central and the room had everything I needed for a comfy stay.

Very comfortable room, clean and with a nice view. The bathroom is very clean and with warm water.

Sugat and his family are amazing. I felt home and taken care of. They gave me very valuable advices for my trip and helped me in everything even finding me a very good direct flight on the date and budget I wanted. The hotel is clean and in a quiet area far from the noisy touristy areas. You still can visit by foot two of the most impressive hindu and Buddhist temples (Pashupatinath and Budhnath). I could leave some stuff there while visiting Pokhara.

We stayed twice at the Swagat Hostel and we would definately like to come back for a third visit. Sugat and his family made us feel like home in no time. They have been incredibly welcoming and took the time to exchange with us and tell us more about the country's history, culture and religion, and what to do and see. The breakfast was good and the room and bathroom were clean.

The bed was a bit hard.

Sugat really made our stay as pleasant as possible. He was super friendly and always had good hints what to visit. He also made sure we could find and catch our busses. If you like to stay with friends, this is the place to go in Kathmandu. The area was a bit away from Thameel, but therefore quiet at night. We stayed here twice at the start and the end of our trip and did not regret it.

I had a great time staying here for three nights before moving to another accomodation for my treks. Walking outside, I got to know the "real Kathmandu", unlike touristy Thamel. Sugat and his wife are brilliant, very friendly and helpful in every kind of way!

Swagat and family were very homely and friendly with me. They have helped me since my arrival in Nepal: in logistic matters and also during my trek. As I was traveling alone it was very important for me. Swagat's place is warm, clean and comfortable. I fully recommend it!

The homestay offers a quiet rest in the center of Kathmandu. Sugat and his family will also take care of you and help you with everything you need.

I was treated as a friend from the off. Sugat and his family are lovely and Sugat himself wnet out of his way and could not help me enough when I had an issue relating to my previous destination as well as a second issue towards the end of my stay. The room was excellent and the breakfast was very good as well. If I'm lucky enough to come back to Nepal again Swagat Homestay will be at the top of my list for accomodation.

Hospitality and calm location. No noise and house is clean. Wash room is clean and 24*7 Hot water.

No TV or Coffie/Tea maker. It's ok for travellers who leave after breakfast and come back in the night. Good for long term stay. If you book double room or family then you have attached bath. Else it's common but very clean and 24*7 Hot water.
