Great location. Great views. Great communication w host!

We have been renting houses for our Thanksgiving with our kids and grandkids for many years and this one was the best. It was very roomy. We had 15 people and it never felt crowded. The fireplace on the porch was a popular place. Loved the large patio and hot tub. The views are fantastic. The large pantry allowed us to keep all the food we brought out of the way. Plenty of parking for 5 vehicles. Can’t say enough about this rental. We will definitely do our next family gathering here again.

This cabin was even more perfect than we thought! It was close to West Jefferson, Boone, Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked Trashcan Falls, the views were amazing. Our grandkids loved this so much! They loved playing on the hill! We're hoping to book this same cabin this coming summer!

clean, 15 minutes from everything, lots of family fun

This was such a gorgeous cabin and we enjoyed our stay so much! The cabin was just as described, easy to get to, and had the best views!

The cabin was wonderful. It was beautiful and it was in accurate description. However, I got a message over a day later accusing me of having a dog in the house, and they were not pet friendly. We never had a dog in the house. We stayed in the house because we were getting married in the area. We actually live locally though and my parents live right next-door. They did not stay in the house and they watched my dog all weekend. It would not make sense for me to bring my dog to the house. The cleaning crew found one furball and they sent me a picture. They claimed that the master bedroom had hair all over it and the bedspread. They never sent me pictures of these things. They also accused me of finding dog food. They never sent me pictures of this either. I am not going to lint roll my clothes before I go into a house just because I have a husky at home and she is shedding in the fall. If I would’ve had her in the house, there would be a lot more hair and she would’ve sent me a lot more pictures. I am very disappointed with her trying to charge me extra fees because she found one fur ball from my long hair dog that I picked off my clothes when I got there. Beware of them being picky. I have over a dozen people that will testify and I am so upset that they have put this damper on my wedding weekend.

The gated community was easy enough to find but the house itself was up winding, curved slightly steep road and all the roads are named similar. After you find the house it is easy to find again. The house has plenty of room for everyone and seating inside and out with a beautiful view. Kitchen is large and cupboards and drawers are marked so it was easy to find things. Quiet neighborhood. Parking and driveway were less than desirable because of the steepness but there was plenty of room for our vehicles. Really cozy home, comfortable beds in a beautiful area. Communication with owner was easy and they got back to us quickly when we had questions.

Wonderful place to stay. We had a blast each evening sitting the deck and star gazing, looking for satellites, etc. highly recommend this location.

We loved this mountain home. The gated community felt very safe. The house was well stocked. The layout is great for multiple families. And the views are breathtaking! Definitely recommend!

Fantastic home and location. We had a large group of friends up for a 50th birthday celebration. The house was more than large enough for our group. The house was very clean. This house has been added to our favorites when we visit the area.

This home is designed beautifully, and can accommodate more than one family comfortably. Lots of room for a large gathering. Cleanliness exceeded expectations. Large wrap around decks provided gorgeous views including lovely sunsets. Parking was plentiful. Well stocked with kitchen needs. Only thing we found lacking was kitchen hand towels and dish cloths, but the nearby Dollar Store satisfied that need. Easy to read labels helped made locating what we needed easy and quick. Stunning hot tub and fire pit area. Comfortable and like new outdoor furniture and lots of it. Ground level game room and bar and TV area perfectly suited for entertaining. The 20 minute drive to Boone was convenient for shopping needs. Owners are very responsive to questions. We are grateful for having the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful property.

Had a great get together with my friends, property was perfect

Private community with well maintained roads close to Boone and Blowing Rock as well as ski mountains. Great location for family.

Nice location, beautiful well appointed home with amazing views. Everything you need for a great getaway in the mountains.

We enjoyed staying at this cabin! It is clean, beautiful inside, and the beds are very comfortable. It has jacuzzi, and a sauna - 2 people can go in at a time. It is spacious. It is well stocked with blankets, pillows, and towels. We went with infants and it was nice that they had a playpen. The cabin has pool table, and some board games on the first floor. One suggestion would be to allow the guest to control their room temperature. We had two infants in the house and the master bedroom on the main floor was cold. We had to turn the heat higher to keep them warm, but the temperature was set at 75F with a passcode. For adults this temperature is okay, but not for infants in the winter time. The other rooms were warm. The kitchen is stocked well. We enjoyed the outside furniture the gliding chairs. We had a little bit of snow on our last day which was nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended this cabin.

This property was incredible and the pictures do not although great on the listing, in person is even better. The property is easy to get to even in a 15 passenger van. The rooms spacious basement great to hang out on a foggy cloudy day which we had. Hot tub was in perfect condition. Just an amazing property and we don’t want to leave.

Leanna and Scott have a great property with some of the best views on their respective mountain community. While we did not get a white Christmas which would have been amazing, it was cold enough to have the winter experience. The house is spacious and accommodated well 8 adults and 5 children. The downstairs bar and pool table were really nice and we took advantage for inside fun and recreation. They also had a foos ball in garage but it was too cold and table needed some repair so we did not use it. Having two large refrig both upstairs and downstairs was a nice surprise and allowed us to show for the week so we could limit trips to the store. The family had a nice time and we would recommend for sure.

Highly recommended. Excellent communication with the owner made for a smooth transaction. The description of the house, while accurate, probably does not do it justice. Very nice with lots of cool unique detail. Lots of living space which we needed during the remnants of hurricane Nicole.

My family enjoyed our week in the mountains to see the fall colors. Bear Necessity cabin was amazing, it had everything we needed. It was in a great location. I hope that we can stay there again in the future.

Home was quite spacious & allowed for privacy. Located in area which made it easy to access the wedding venue. While kitchen was useful for large group, a table larger than allowing for 6 guests would be helpful in a 5 bedroom home. A frequent review of the workings of basic items such as coffee maker, washer/dryer, etc would also be helpful as the home apparently rents frequently and consequently suffers from a lot of use/abuse. Appreciated the fact that we were able to control the inside temp ourselves as the huge wall of windows in the great room definitely impact the afternoon temp of the home. The driveway to the front porch was a great help - particularly during the hurricane. Overall, we would rent the home again for a larger group. It was much easier than staying at overpriced hotels in Boone during a football weekend.

The setting is beautiful and the house offers anything/everything we could have needed.

Our family came into the area for a wedding and this location and home was perfect. We couldn’t ask for a place with any better outdoor living space with spacious decking and Mountain views. The bedrooms were very large and quiet and well spaced out. It’s in a private neighborhood so a perfect family location and destination.

The house was gorgeous!! We all had plenty of privacy and the views were phenomenal! The house was beautifully equipped and decorated. We had everything we needed and more.

This is the second time we have visited Bear Necessities for our annual Mother/Daughter retreat and it was just as good this time as last! The house is great for large groups, well stocked, has an awesome view and a large hot tub! All of which we enjoyed! Leanne is also a wonderful host. She is very prompt in communicating and accommodating of our last minute changes to add an additional night. Enjoy!
