Carol and her family are incredibly welcoming and always ready to help out (e.g. choosing spots to visit in the park, booking transportation, etc.). They offer in-house cooking that’s freshly made and also caters to vegetarian needs. It‘s also super delicious! Also, the Yangjiajie Ticket Office is less crowded than other entrances to the park, yet close to many sights.

The bathroom can take some getting used to for travelers who haven’t been to China before. However, they were very clean and basic amenities (shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, combs, soap) are supplied.

I had a brilliant time at the One Step to Heaven Inn. The property was located in a lovely quiet village, and it was just 5 minutes walk from the entrance to the National Park. Carol and her family were great hosts, and I felt warmly welcomed. Carol could helpfully speak superb English; she was extremely kind, friendly and really helpful with ideas and travel arrangements. I would highly recommend the One Step to Heaven Inn.

Great location, staff and food.

This is a great place to stay especially if you want to go through the park without a guide. Carol is really knowledgeable and helpful. She helped me to plan all the hiking routes I took making suggestions based on the weather for the day and the total amount of time I had to spend in the park. Additionally, she went out of her way by helping me to locate a hospital where I could get a Covid test (it was a precaution in case I was asked for it at any train/bus stations).

If you are visiting Zhanjiajie National Park, this is the place to stay. The small hotel is at the edge of a village five minutes walk from a park entrance. This is the most convenient and attractive park entrance. The entrance is also quiet as it is not used by large tours. The hotel is own by a local family. The lady who meets you on your arrival speaks English well and has valuable advice on how to best visit the park. If you have time they are happy to introduce you into local ethnic culture and history. The upstairs rooms are attractive with wood paneled walls and reasonably comfortable beds. The showers had plenty of hot water and the rooms were clean.

At first we where give two rooms as requested, but one room, down stairs had a broken bed. After asking to change rooms we were given one room upstairs and a different room downstairs. The room downstairs was clean with a hard bed and white walls, not comfy like those upstairs. I would ask to be shown the upstairs rooms first when you check-in. There are not many choices for food nearby. The guest house next door had a very good cook. At our hotel the food was too oily.

First of all, this place is located 500m from Park entrance. Not possible to call taxi from the airport at all, I had to ask for a help. Cold at this time, bring more warm clothes. The only place you can eat breakfast /dinner is the hotel, because there's nothing around, so it is overpriced. If you want to go to popular park places, it is hard to come back to Yangjiajie! I was having hard time coming back from Wulingyuan(another park entrance), they don't have direct transportation, so you have to take city bus for ¥10 from a bus station, then enter the park at senlin Park, take a bus to another place, then climb a hill, and take another 2 buses! You have to manage to do it until 5-6pm, otherwise you can't come back. The room balcony door was broken, I had to ask twice to close it. The toilet was not properly fixed! No cleaning during my 3 nights stay. I don’t recommend this place, unless you want to see some park views at this side. No English speaking stuff, I spoke in Chinese.
