Friendly staff, super location

I wanted to check in on Sunday so the hotel asked me to send my credit card data via email :/ It sounded like a scam so I had to contact them and convince them that I would not do this. But then the receptionist was very friendly and allowed me to pay the day after.

The Hotel was easy to check in to even though I arrived after the reception was closed. They have lock boxes for the keys. Rooms are spacious and quiet.

Rooms are a little tired and shabby. The hotel has not been updated or renovated for a long time. The internet is not very fast.

Location and price looked good but as the hotel cancelled on me before I arrived I can't verify that to be true.

Although I provided a check-in time (on request) at the time of booking, several days in advance of my arrival, the hotel cancelled my booking before I arrived. They claimed that I was not contactable by phone or email. When my plane landed I received their message cancelling my booking. I went to the hotel anyway and could not gain access. I had to book and pay for another hotel at 11pm that night. Some days later my card was charged for a stay which the hotel cancelled. I raised the issue with booking.com who advised it could take 5 business days to resolve. This time has now passed and I have received no further communication.

Opera district. Easy to move from Jungfernstieg to Landungsbruken-HVV Boat station: fish market, Reeperban and Elbphilharmony (S1,S3). From Jungfernstieg to uberseequartier (U4), just one station to Miniature world, Elbphilharmony (This was so useful!). Stadtkrug and close fish resto, Fischerstube. The hotel is professionally operated with check-in and check-out. The room has an elegant high ceiling with well equipped heating.

The location is perfect, the place is clean and the room had a good size.

The only problem was the pillows, they are extremely poor quality. If you don't use a pillow for sleeping I would recommend this place, if you really need it, try to negotiate an upgrade in pillows before arriving or something because you will not be able to sleep.

Photographs look much better than reality. I asked the recepcionist if they could keep my luggage while I was on meetings all day, since the recepcion was closed before 10:00 am and I had to leave the room by 7:30, so they would have had to pick up the luggage from the room and keep it somewhere else, but they refused to do it, they wouldn't move my luggage from the room to the luggage room for me. Then I asked for the receipt and she said that she had many other invoices to do first, there was noone else there, in a very upsetting tone.
