Pool was just right temp another enjoyable stay

It was dirty the lifts are disgusting

This place is safe and the rooms have all the things you need. The staffs are really helpful. I highly recommend this place to other travellers.

The outdoor areas are nice. Heated pools, tennis court The place is in need of an upgrade on the inside. Bedrooms are nice enough, but not very well soundproof.

The reception staff were very friendly. The sri lankan girl was so nice. The room was not cleaned properly. Room was very cold at night. Carpets was so dirty they should do deep carpet clean. No proper dishes were provided not even washed properly.

The food was appalling.

Tennis/basketball courts and swimming pools were awesome. BUT. There was a limit on devices that could connect to wifi (and a GB usage limit) which was really annoying when you have two children and a business to keep track of on holiday. The rooms aren’t serviced daily (there is a note saying this is the case to be environmentally friendly?!) however you are told to call reception if you need things specifically. We asked at 8am for our rubbish and dishes to be taken, and new towels. Was told best to try and talk to housekeeping if they are around, they weren't. Came back at 3:30pm to dishes and rubbish still in our room. Called reception who said again to try and talk to housekeeping if they’re around, they still weren’t. Told to put our rubbish, towels and dishes outside our door which looked gross. They were picked up about 6pm just as we were settled in and relaxed. Then needed some bowls and spoons for breakfast cereal, again told to ask housekeeping if they are around(?!) - otherwise had to walk to the restaurant and ask for some there, which I ended up doing. No water in the water dispenser at the gym, so went to reception and had to go to the bar to get it filled, which felt awkward in workout gear. all of this felt quite budget which didn’t match with the price we paid. Unfortunately will be our last stay here.

Rooms and building are tired and need a renovation. Was looking forward to sitting on the sofas by the fire in the guest lounge, but it doesnt exist. The photos were staged. Also "the restaurant" is just part of the bar. And the fireplace is in a side area. Its all the same room staged in the photos to look like 3 different areas. Restaurant very expensive. Didnt eat there. Disappointing. The outdoor heated pool was great though really enjoyed it. Tennis court was fun too. Extractor fan in our bathroom didn't work so steamed up a lot.

No water supplied or water bottle, asked me to drink from bathroom tap, room was filthy specially the carpet, beds were terrible , couldn’t sleep at all, bathroom tiles were mouldy.. won’t be coming back to this place

Inise (i hope I got her name right) has given a great customer service that made a big difference to our stay. Thank you Inise. This is our repeat stay with Wairakei Resort, a good place to stay for a time away with family and friends, lots of things to do in the resort, (2 pools, basketball court, tennis court, etc). The property is undergoing some carpet replacement, a much needed one. We will be back, hopefully the refurbishment continues.

I wouldn't recommend the Economy King block as it is really rundown. The whole room could do with a fresh makeover, the carpet was very faded/stained that even though it maybe clean but looks very dirty. The bathroom is like a throw back to the 80s...

Loved the two hot pools. Thw favilities were great. My room was tody but I was in an old building which creaked when you walked around, and you could hear the neighbours easily. Room amenities were great. Didnt eat in restaurant so cant comment on quality of food - I shied away after seeing the ludicrous cost of their breakfasts ($46 adults, $30 kids!!). I enjoyed my stay there though and would be happy to stay there again.

Resort does not have hot water facility in winder.

Photos were shown on website was huge bedroom, when we check in, we seen rooms were small. Heater not working well.

Staff at check in were rude, didn't give proper instructions to get to the cobwebs filled room. Was told by staff the sauna and spa were closed permanently. Was told told by other guests that the spa was open wasting my time and money going somewhere else

I stayed with my teenage son on our way though Taupō. The room was a little tired but this was more than made up for by the facilities. We played squash and used the gym, sauna and spa pool. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Slightly tired interior but renovation is imminent. Friendly staff. Was a long walk to the room in a far away wing. But warm, comfy and restaurant is great. Venison to die for!

Pool area..too much crowded all time...both of them.. Spa just looks like a water Tub...no pressure orbubble in it.....

Hotel was good. Like others have mentioned it’s a bit dated. But it’s comfortable and the thermal pools were nice

Although the property is showing its age it still has a lovely charm about it and the grounds are expansive and relaxing. I was only there from late afternoon till pre dawn but it felt very safe.

Abit old but was fine

Great resort with lots to do. Holds special memories. The only complaint I have is probably due to Expedia and not the resort however when we booked through Expedia the cost included Breakfast but when we went to check out the receptionist (who wasn’t overly friendly about the situation) tried to charge us for breakfast again. After a lot of back and forth and rummaging through emails they finally found that the booking did include breakfast - check your bookings!

Bathroom in our room was disgusting wasn’t clean at all, thought we’d come back to a clean room after a day out but no sheets were just pulled up nothing was cleaned
