My stay at Hotel Kanra was pleasant, I wish I had spent more time here. This hotel was a lot more traditional than my other stays and I enjoyed exploring the area around it! Staff was great, they were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto!

I absolutely loved this hotel!

Really enjoyed this hotel. Decor of the rooms is lovely - I won’t describe it, just look at the pictures. There is an entrance to the subway very close to the hotel and from there one easy stop either to Kyoto station or to the main shopping street in Kyoto. You could walk to both areas easily too, but the weather during our stay was a mixture of mainly very hot with occasional torrential downpours so the subway was a quick and easy alternative. On first entering the dining room for breakfast, the buffet looks quite small compared to some hotels, but actually there is a lot there and an excellent variety of both western and Japanese options. In keeping with the minimalist decor, they do not put out huge quantities of food, but have smaller quantities which are very regularly ‘topped up’. The food itself is very high quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. My wife had a massage in the spa and enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended.

Really close to main train line, beautiful hotel and close to shrine. Staff were so accommodating and helped find restaurants for us.

Conveniently located hotel, nice quality property, the bathroom bed tatami flooring feels authentic and gave a modern yet traditional feel. The staff’s English level is above average to very good. Only 1 or 2 front desk receptionists were either unhelpful service attitude.

The style of the hotel is a traditional one but with a modern view and we really love it! Room service and food were amazing too, everyone in the staff were very friendly and helpful and knew English very good. They gave us recommendations about restaurants and how to get to different parts of Kyoto and Uji. Definitely recommend them!

Hotel Kanra was such an incredible experience. It was our favorite hotel of the entire trip. This is the only hotel that had an amazing traditional Japanese feel. We will absolutely return. Thank you to all of the amazing staff.

Beautiful Modern Japanese style hotel. A must stay while in Kyoto. Easy walk from Kyoto Station. Customer Service is top notch. Complimentary e-bike rental for adults and older kids. Too many amenities to list. Will definitely be back again.

Amazing Hotel! Perfect place to relax, everything is beautiful, minimalistic, the staff is amazingly helpful and you can arrive from the train station by foot. There is metro and bus station really nearby that can bring you in the almost everywhere in Kyoto.

Everything is great at this hotel. It goes the extra mile with service and creates a wonderful experience for guests. We will definitely be back.

I have stayed at Hotel Kanra 2 times. The first was in 2016 and the most recent in 2024. Both in the summer. This hotel is spectacular and quite unique in its design. Both time i was with my family. I highly recommend this hotel as thw location ia also amazing
