The location is the only great thing about this. It has so much potential. We arrived before 8 pm and had to check in at the bar next door. In the morning reception was not friendly. Room was dirty and old. You can here everything in your room and in hall. A coffee or tea would be nice. We will not stay again. Such a shame to let such a historic building decay.

Was a good place to stay right in the square, walkable to all shopping and the beach. Bathroom was a little outdated and bed a bit hard but all manageable and did not make the experience unpleasant. Would stay again because of location and great price.

It was fine for the price. Front desk staff not great. I booked it specifically for the location which is great, and for the price which is good for what you get.

If you are expecting a 5 star hotel at this price, you have unrealistic expectations. When you enter the hotel, its very grand! The young lady that checked us in was friendly. Yes, the carpet on the stairs should be cleaned. We were on the 2nd floor. When you open the door to the room, it was a bit musty smelling, the hotel is over 100 years old! (They should run the a/c before guests arrive). Once the a/c runs for a bit, the smell goes away. When I first went into the bstheoom, it appeared fine, but the other reviews are correct, the bathtub is gross, they could easily take care of this and it would make a huge difference. The restaurant had live entertainment, which was fun, and Sunday morning there is a market in the square, so we enjoyed walking around. For the money, the hotel was fine. Clean the carpets, run the a/c before guests arrive and clean the grout in the tub and there would be no complaints from me. For the price, we'll still likely be back!

The carpeting on the stairs is really gross. No one was at the desk at check in or checkout.

My cousin and arrived and had to check in at the bar. There are no elevators and we were on the third floor. We are in our 60s, and carrying luggage up was a challenge. The carpets throughout are stained and very old. Our room had two double beds, mine had some hair on it, looked like dog hair. The carpets had burn marks and major stains. Looking up, I noticed big stains on the ceiling. The bathroom was extremely small, taps had rust on them, and the basin had several small cracks. The tub had a bit of mold. It was quiet except for the AC which was very loud. Breakfast was free and it was continental. We opted for a hot breakfast elsewhere. We will not return.
