Tropical paradise. There are four separate villas on this property. We rented all four, but you may rent them separately. Maid service is provided for fresh linens during your stay. The host speaks English and Spanish and is warm, welcoming, and helpful. We opted not to rent a car, and the host arranged for van transport for us for day trips to La Fortuna and LaPaz. And also to and from the airport. All the villas are well equipped, clean, and quaintly furnished. One thing to be aware of is that two of the villas are at the top of a pretty steep hill, and the other two are further down. Both have beautiful views of Lake Arenal, but if your party is using both, be aware that it is a challenging trek up that driveway. We were eight 70 year olds, and we were able to do it, but something to be aware of. (The pool is near the bottom two villas.). All in all, we absolutely loved this place.

We had a wonderful stay at the Arenal Springs Villa. The property is even more beautiful than the photos, and Thomas, Maria, and their team are so kind and helpful. One day a few members of our group were taking a walk around the property and the gardener cut down fresh grapefruit for them. It made their whole trip! The property is about an hour away from the major Arenal attractions, but the drive is beautiful, and it was worth it for us to be able to stay altogether in such a beautiful villa.

Let me start off by saying this property is absolutely stunning, the grounds are located on a beautiful hillside that overlooks Arenal Lake. We were a group of 13 and occupied the Casa Primera & Casa Grande. A true getaway, we felt totally secluded. The host was very helpful and gave me suggestions on things to do and the info for a private chef. There is nothing close by so the private chef was one of the best recommendations, Chef Nixon was phenomenal! If you want a private quiet getaway look no further. The home has a lovely pool and there is good hiking areas all around. Speaking of getting around the closest “grocery” store is about a 10 minute drive. There are cabs, however they can be a bit pricey. We hired shuttles to take us back and forth. If you want to go anywhere, rent a car or schedule shuttles ahead of time. As mentioned cabs are pretty readily available but for large groups may prove difficult to find. A group of 4 of us needed to run to the closest store, the cost was $40 round trip. We decided to do a few excursions in the area (waterfall rappelling, white water rafting and thermal pools). All the excursions we chose were located closer to Fortuna, which is about 1.5 hour drive away. More about the home: sparkling clean w beautiful design and architecture. Lots of kitchen essentials (plates, utensils, cups, coffee maker). Pool and bath towels. And a washer and dryer in each home. You also get great exercise walking up and down the steep hill to go from house to house. There is also a hot tub that would have been lovely to use during our stay, however it was broken the whole time we were there.

I would like to say that the property is great. If you are a big family then you have 3 different villas and small room with bath that can satisfy your needs. They are a little further apart but walkable if you are a hiker. The host is awesome and always available. Only bummer was there was no internet throughout the stay and you have bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Also this listing is about an hour away from arenal downtown and hence we had to shuttle and lose 2 hours everyday that we wanted to go to arenal for activities.

We were a group of 18, aged from 3 to 78 y/o, and we occupied all 4 villas. All of the houses were clean and well-kept. One thing to note is that the main kitchen is well stocked with dinnerware and glasses but a little less so for pots, pans etc. if you plan on cooking for a large group. Maria was excellent; she provided caterers for meals at the house, reservations for all of us at restaurants in the area, and provided great tour recommendations. We went to the Springs Resort and it was incredible! We also did some mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining, and canyoning. They were all great with the canyoning being the most memorable! There were a few things that were less than ideal. It turned out the hot tub wasn’t working when we arrived, and they were not able to repair it during the week of our stay. This was quite disappointing since having access to a hot tub was part of the reason we booked this property. Also, we had a lot of trouble with the internet at either of the houses at the top of the hill (Casa Grande & Casa Bella Vista). That being said, it was still a great property and an amazing experience!

A variety of properties in a gated area viewing Lake Arenal. Was a little disappointed that there was no AC. Our hostess explained that at the altitude we were at the nights were in the 60s. Combined with the ceiling fans we were pretty comfortable. The views of Lake Arenal were fabulous and the jungle like rain forest was magical. Hard rains can happen without warning day or night but the result is foliage that defies description. Furnishings were beautiful and functional. The big house was amazing to say the least. All were nicely equipped throughout. But the experience was made extra special by the warmth and generosity of Tom and Maria. We became friends in a short period of time.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. We were a group of 17, including three that are 7 and under. We were able to visit beautiful national parks nearby. However, one of my family's absolutely FAVORITE thing to do, was to sit outside in the patio, overlooking the rolling hill and beautiful gardens. Every day we would see several toucans, parrots, humming birds and many other birds. From the property, you can also see monkeys playing in the trees. This was all an absolute treat! Our family hired a chef to cook breakfast and dinner at the property. This worked out great for us, since our large group did not need to worry about finding restaurants that would cater to such a large group at once. Mary and Tom were great hosts and helped us with all we needed. Check-in and check-out was super easy! This is a great place to visit! We highly recommend it!

Our 3 months vacation at Arenal Springs was a delight. Everything we thought it would be and more! Views were spectacular. Our host helped with touring arrangements which simplified the process. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing experience. I highly recommend Arenal Springs, Casa Grande, to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

The best part of this rental was the host, Maria. She helped to coordinate so many aspects of this trip. She helped to book excursions (which we did daily) and she recommended some great places to eat...Cafe Macadamia, Tinajas and others. The house was very big and spacious...and could easily accommodate 7-8 people. My reasons for not giving 5 stars are below: The master bedroom mattress is very hard. I liked it on the first night and then it started to feel quite uncomfortable. Also, the outdoor furniture, particularly by the pool is not comfortable and due for an upgrade. We had some issues with ants in the house, not a big deal and not unexpected in a tropical location. We even deal with that home in New Jersey. Lastly, we did excursions daily, but we were an hour away from Fortuna, where our excursions were located...thus...a lot of driving. Lastly, the tiles around the pool are incredibly slippery when wet. The good certainly outweighed the bad and the house is nice...but there is some room for improvement. We did feel safe at all times and we're able to see monkeys and toucans frequently right from the yard and pool area. Overall a very nice place to stay...with helpful hosts right on the property. Unrelated to the house itself....we experienced several fun excursions, but Don Tobias horseback riding in La Fortuna is not to be missed. Best horseback riding excursion of our lives..with well treated and well trained horses. Great tour operators. Skip the cloud forest in Monteverde...not worth the drive or the money. Zip lines in Arenal, Canyoning and white water rafting in the area, all fun excursions. Driving around the lake daily, we did find it odd how lightly used the Lake itself was.

The house and property met all of our expectations. Loved the view from the kitchen, such a delight to cook. Pool and gardens were delightful. Marie and Tom are gracious hosts.

We had nine adult family members celebrating a milestones for aging parents in their 80s. Also, we had a full-time guide and driver. Ample space. Stunning views. Catered Chef provided a delicious barbecue dinner banquet! Tom and Marie were delightful hosts. Since our van could not make it up to the top house, they shuttled us back-and-forth every time we left and returned. The only reason we gave this beautiful home and property four stars instead of five was because of the inadequate Wi-Fi.

definitely recommended, a magical place, an unbeatable view, the attention of Luisa and Thom was incredible. After 4 years without all my brothers and my parents being together, we chose this place as the right place and we were not wrong, enough space for large families who enjoy eating in a good share.

We just got back from our two week trip to Costa Rica upon which we rented three properties and one of those being with Tom and Maria. We rented the Casa Bella Vista and the Enchanted cottage. Of the three properties we rented, theirs was by far the most accommodating. Unfortunately Tom had just undergone a tooth extraction before we arrived and was in no shape to greet us but his wife Maria had things well under control. She got us all situated into our beautiful house and cottage and made sure we were all quite comfortable. The views of the lake are incredible and the manicured grounds are well cared for. When we go on vacation we want a place to relax and have it like home, Tom and Maria have created such a place. You will appreciate all of the beautiful wood and tile work throughout. There are some great places to eat nearby and of course have Maria book you a zip line tour in nearby Fortuna. We had a great time watching the Broncos beat the Stealers only to find out later that Tom is a Stealers fan. Thankfully he was a good sport and didn't charge us a disturbing the peace fine with all our cheering. We would highly recommend the accommodations to anyone looking for a beautiful, secluded, and relaxing place to stay.

Tom and Maria made our stay at the Springs. They are fabulous people. The springs is very nice, clean and comfortable. A great place to get some relaxation time, or for a group event such as a wedding.

I could not wait to write this review so I could share with anyone out there looking for a great place to land for an outstanding stay. We booked months before our stay and the owner and his wife were wonderful in helping us to have all the plans in place for our stay. We read all of the reviews about this place and we were not even a little disappointed. There were 8 of us and we stayed at the Casa Grande and Casa Bella Vista. The view is to die for. We felt like VIP's or Hollywood stars. The Villa was outstanding. The vaulted exotic wood ceilings, the beautiful furnishings and the largest living room I've ever seen in my life. Outside the porch wraps around the front of the villa and lends to the panoramic view of beautiful Lake Arenal. We had the Rancho outside to gather for Bar-B-Q's and the Jacuzzi was a great place to relax. The grounds keeping here is phenomenal. It abounds with beautiful flowers and Palm and Banana trees. Tom and Maria are the greatest of hosts. Maria helped all of us plan our tours and I can't say enough about her. We had almost 50 emails between Tom and me and I can't believe the patience Tom had with all the questions we had. It was our first trip abroad and it has been the best vacation we have ever had. Just email Tom and he and his beautiful wife Maria will take care of the rest for you. Thanks Tom and Maria from all of our family.

This was a 10th year anniversary trip and we wanted something special, which is exactly what we got. We spent the first 4 days of our trip at Casa Primera--one of Tom and Maria's beautiful villas. It was more than we could have imagined. The setting was beautiful and the villa was perfect--spotless and provided a very comfortable place to return to each evening. And the views from this proerty are incredible!! Lake and jungle views in one place; beautiful landscaping! I could go on and on. The location was perfect for us. A great restaurant almost at the bottom of the driveway and only about an hour to the volcano and all the activities we wanted to experience in the Arenal area. Tom and Maria were exceptional hosts--very helpful. Will book any tours you need and provide you with all the information needed to make your trip a very memorable one. We are already planning a return trip to Costa Rica and hope to be able to make Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake part of that trip! Thank you Tom and Maria--even though we had rain during our stay it did not dampen our spirits or ruin our wonderful vacation!!

I'm not a complete world traveler, but I have taken many trip to other places in the States and some other Countries. The Views I have seen here in Costa Rica while staying at Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake are breathtaking. This was money and time so well spent. We are a family of 5 and rented Casa Primera. It had a fantastic view from the front porch and kitchen and living room. A panoramic scene of Lake Arenal and the Rain Forest. Nice and close to the pool for the kids. Tom and Maria are such great hosts and through countless emails, we managed to pre-plan all our stay and did not waste time trying to figure out what to do and where to go. The villa was spotless and the domestic help was friendly and helpful. This private estate is huge and Tom even helped us to make calls to the U.S. For free. Tom had a map and Maria had suggestions that were spot on in helping us to have the time of our lives. I would highly recommend this place to anyone reading this and we will be talking to all our friends and family and trying to convince them to go and visit Arenal and stay at Arenal Springs Villas by the lake. I can only begin by saying that this is definitely all that is says in the advertisements. What an incredible Estate. All of our mouths were hanging open in delight when we saw Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake for the first time. I have no idea on how much work went into creating this place. The grounds are abundant with flowers and fruit trees. We picked oranges off of the tree for our breakfast juice. So convenient the location because we wanted to see not only Hot Springs and and Volcano and the beautiful Lake Arenal, but we also wanted to visit Monteverde and spend one day at the beach. We had 20 persons in our party and I don't know how they did it, but Maria and Tom helped us so much in advance of our trip so we just hit the ground running. All the details were taken care of ahead of time. Tom's friends have a Van Service and what remarkable people they are. There was no need for a rental car and we just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the scenery. The Villas are outstanding. Beautifully furnished and such well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. It was so nice for our whole family to be together and at the same time we retired to our separate Villas. Tom had a map made up by hand so we knew where the best places to eat and to see. We also saw a lot of wildlife. Monkeys visited us each morning and you could hear their howls at night. We are now planning on staying here once again to reunite in 3 years. Thanks Tom and Maria for showing us a wonderful time and all of your help while there We will write you and keep you updated on our family. We will treasure your friendship always.

Casa Grande was a wonderful villa for a family. We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the quiet and the rain. Sitting on the front porch, overlooking the lake in the early morning was wonderful. The villa itself was marvelous with a unique open floor plan, wonderful vaulted ceilings with wood finish and the furnishings were very comfortable. Pool was very nice, but a bit of a walk. Loved the mornings on the porch. Drive up to villa a bit challenging, but became easier.

After other arrangements fell through, I made some frantic calls and ran across this place. Although it was closed for repainting, I was able to tour Casa Primera and the surrounding casitas and grounds. The place is beautiful and the views are stunning. The grounds are beautifully maintained. If you are looking for exceptional accomodations in the Arenal area, I would not hesitate to call Tom and his wife. When Tom's home was not available, he went out of his way to find us stranded travellers places to stay in the area.

What a great vacation! I recently (1-9 April 2011) spent 8 wonderful days at Casa Grande with my wife, 11-year old daughter and 9-year old son. Arenal Springs Villas is a luxurious and relaxing retreat. It was truly a delight to arrive back "home" after each day's adventure in the Central Highlands. Casa Grande is everything you could want with spectacular views, beautifully maintained grounds, hot tub, pool, covered and partially enclosed BBQ grill and fireplace. The house is full of fine furniture, the master bedroom is palatial, and the maid service tops it all off. The house has an open airy feel with very high ceilings, expansive windows to take in the view, and a veranda that you could spend your entire vacation on except there's too much to do. The main living area has space for everyone. Our kids loved the place. Tom and Maria (owners) are perfect hosts; very gracious and helpful - they seemed like friends that I had known for a long time. Maria made excursion reservations for us and their restaurant recommendations were spot on. The property is private and secure with an electric gate and very quiet. I had almost forgotten how many stars are in the sky at night. It's a short drive to Nuevo Arenal and not too far from La Fortuna and Monteverde where many adventures await. I would recommend Arenal Springs Villas to anyone that wants a little slice of paradise away from the crowds of the resorts. Arenal was the first stop of our trip and if I were to go back to Costa Rica, I would definitely stay here again. This was the first time anyone one in my group had visited Costa Rica and staying here was a great welcoming treat. The property was relaxing, views were breathtaking, the service and hospitality was that of a 5 star hotel. The owners were the BEST and every single one of their recommendations was excellent (food, tours, places to visit, etc.) They also helped us plan our activities by arranging reservations, providing directions, and providing helpful tips for what to do and not to do. They really made our visit so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Unfotunately we didn't stay at the Casa Grande, which we got a little tour of while there, but we still enjoyed our stay to the fullest at one of the smaller villas. We did visit a couple other places in Costa Rica, but nothing compared to Arenal Springs. We really wished we would have stayed there longer. This place is excellent for small and large groups. There were 7 of us so finding the perfect place was somewhat limited but thanks to Arenal Springs Villas we found it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed at Casa Grande with my girlfriend in late October and we had a blast. This property and view is as nice as I have ever seen and I have been on many, many trips. Tom and Maria, the owners, are wonderful. They will plan trips for you if you want, recommend great restaurants, etc. or they will give you privacy. They were very helpful and even let my gf use their phone to call her kids in the states. We stayed in the larger home but any of the homes on property would have been great. The landscaping, views, amenities in home (very open, upscale, views from every room), and the easy access to volcano, La fortuna, etc) were incredible. I would not hesitate to go back and would love to go as a big group and rent out the entire property. We stayed at the Enchanted Cottage in Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake. We had a wonderful time and met a lot of wonderful people. Tom and Enrique helped with anything we needed including providing valuable information about the area. The property is located in an ideal location. The estate is breathtaking. We even had a troupe of howler monkeys visit the trees by the house for several hours. After spending an amazing 2 weeks at Arenal Springs Villas, we are planning our next visit back!!!!!

My husband and I planned our wedding at the Arenal Springs Villas. It was absolutely wonderful! We had invited 20 other guests to join us and stay at the Villas for the week. Each house is beautiful and all of our guests enjoyed their stay. Every inch of the property is outstanding. We enjoyed spending time by the pool and simply walking around the property. The views from various points on the property are breath taking. Our wedding photos turned out beautifully as well. We literally didn't want to leave! The owner was wonderful in accommodating all of our needs. We used his recommendation for vans and drivers and formed lasting friendships with them. The owner, Tom, was also super helpful in arranging various tours for our whole group including ziplining and horseback riding to the volcano. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this property!

We rented the Casa Grande and adjacent villa for the month of July, 2009, to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It is an absolutely beautiful property with fabulous views of Lake Arenal. We felt like we were in a Hollywood movie. It was more than we expected. The innkeeper and his wife who was our chef and maid couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. She was a great cook. The tour director and driver to whom the owner intrduced us were top notch. Very knowledgable and friendly. We had a wonderful time as did each of our guests. We had eight guests each week. None wanted to leave when their week was up. A perfect vacation!
