The house was in a residential area, away from the town centre, but the sliding gate meant cars were off the street and secure. The breakfast was nice but only choice of cooked breakfast was scrambled eggs on French bread, but they were a little cold.. Nice choice of home made yogurts, and also nice homemade bread. The large TV 85" in the lounge was available to watch, and I was as able to use my account access to log into 'Sky sport now' and watch my favourite football team win 6 - 0. !!

Nanette and her daughter were awesome people, very helpful and friendly. Huge plum tree out back that guests were welcome to try. Room was available earlier than 6pm check-in and Nanette was flexible on that check-in time (6pm pretty late check-in with 10am check-out at any rate) . Bed was comfortable and shared bathrooms were always available and clean. Thoughtful touches of personalized welcome sheet and discount card.

Sorry, despite how pleasant the hosts were, was disappointed with the laundry situation as I booked this stay strategically to do laundry during my 3 week road trip in NZ. The laundry is provided as a service but drying is not included so my clothes were returned still wet. Had to take them to another spot after as they wound up smelling pretty musty after not fully drying. It would have been so much better if you could do your own laundry and use a dryer as it is listed on the amenities. Would not recommend for self-catering, more as room rental. I found that the kitchen and dining area had a distasteful smell during my stay. Generally dated home. Felt a lot like elevated couch-surfing. Overall, good option for short term stays during peak season when rates are off the charts. A good choice for budget travelers or anyone who can rough it.

The location is really good, next to thermal spas and restaurants (about 3-5 minutes drive). The facilities are clean - the shared bathrooms, the bedroom, safe and secure car park. Nanette is very attentive. She sent a lovely message before arrival, she also checks in with you (if you are running late on the check-in day to see if you are okay). I appreciate that she waited for me to turn up at 7-ish pm to help me settle in and show me around the house. I also appreciate that she puts so much love and effort into keeping the place clean and convenient like Netflix and high-speed Wi-Fi, bathrobes and extra blankets in my bedroom, slippers, clean towels and toiletries are all available. In the kitchen there are wide selection of teas and beverages. You can cook too if you don't want to eat out. The dining room has nice size table that could fit a group of maybe six people. The lounge has a lovely comfy sofa with a big TV screen.
